Would you work in this scenario?
I live in a small town in between Portland, OR and central California. It's about 5 hours either way. With the riots in Portland this past weekend I came down to Sacramento to work, as I called ahead of time and they said they allow same day working if they like the girl. I also just wanted to try out a new scene.
Last night I worked at Deja Vu (best club that hires on weekends) and honestly hated it. I now realize how lucky we have it up in Portland. First off the club takes 40% of our earnings...still better than making no money but damn. The prices for everything are super cheap as well and the customers were mainly rude sleazeballs. One dude grabbed my vagina in the $20 dance then refused to tip, another guy who tipped extra to touch my boobs was super aggressive about it and gross the whole time. They also had a "free dance" every hour or so where you're required to give a free dance to anyone who asks.
The manager said I was top earner "by far" last night and I only made $426. I need money but just felt degraded and robbed working there. I also have to check out of my hotel by 10 AM tomorrow and then drive north 5 hours right after which I'm not too thrilled about, and there's a minimum 5 hour working shift requirement....so I'd either have like 3-4 hours of sleep or just drive up right after work.
Would you work for a club you really hated for the extra $$ and risk the drive or go home tonight? My next chance to go to Portland wont be until Thursday as I have class Monday-Wednesday.
Side note: in terms of how badly I need the money, I have enough to pay all my bills but only about $100 extra. So I don't NEED it but could certainly use it.
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
I don't know what it is about the Hustler/Deja Vu clubs, but it's the same issue on the East Coast. A customer bought me a drink and when I asked for a tip after a 2 for $40 dance, he actually said "your drink is your tip." And I just let that go because some customers can be stingy assholes like that, but it seemed to be a recurring theme! I HATE those stupid free dances AND the 3 for $40 dances. Like, no. Stop it.
I didn't work at all last week because I was really concerned about the riots and how customers would be spending (and toss in Veteran's Day), so good for you for making what you did! If you're more comfortable with the Portland club, and it seems like you are, if you can hold off until Thursday, by all means hold out until then. I can't believe you drive 5 hours! I created a post a few weeks ago about traveling 2 hours one way for a new club, and I was so concerned about it. But honestly, I would rather drive 2 hours to a club I'm more comfortable with than stay in this area. It seems like it isn't worth it to make ~$400 for a 5-hour drive, to be completely honest. Let me know what you decide- be safe! :)
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
Ugh... the " free dance ".
Wtf ? This is a built in incentive for customers to linger and not spend / try to pounce a freebie - blech.
I'm not sure I understand the set up completely. I'd probably stay another day or two though. It's a long drive for only one night earnings and there is this quirky historic hostel in that city you could stay at to keep your accommodation really cheap.
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
No. I would not. I'm against sleezeballs thinking they can grab you like a blowup doll.
And I would hate promoting free dances for cheapos.
Only way I would go back if I were you is charging the men upfront/getting rooms were they must pay upfront. And working shift with bouncers that will have your back and boot the disrespectful men out of there.

I agree with this.
Is there a different club where you could work? That would let you get started on the spot?
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
i would never work for any club that offers free dances...whether its a yearly, monthly or daily "special" i feel like thats a HUGE smack in the face to the dancers from management.
I would just drive home. live like a non stripper for a couple days to remember how lucky you are lol
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
^^ I know. Free dances??? Wtf?? Do they give away free alcohol too?
Re: Would you work in this scenario?
I don't know if you have ever worked at Stars in Bend, Oregon but it might be closer than Portland. I used to travel 3 hours to that club and was usually happy with the money.
