At home pole & protecting my ceiling
Hi gang! So I purchased an X-pole and am super hyped to set it up, however, super worried about damaging my ceiling. A while ago, like pre-pole-purchase, I thought I read somewhere (I think tumblr) that sometimes people would put a piece of plywood between the top of the x-pole and the ceiling to protect the ceiling from scuffing. Now that I have the pole, I can't find that anywhere, and none of the installation guides I've read have said anything about it. Is this actually a safe option, or is this something my mind invented along the way?!
Re: At home pole & protecting my ceiling
I imagine that a piece of plywood would cause more damage to your ceiling than the xpole itself.
You want to make sure it's set up under a stud but other than that it shouldn't cause any issues. I've had my xpole up a few places and even with popcorn ceilings you couldn't tell after you took it down that it was ever there.

That's good news, thank you! 8)

There's a thread in this section, Home Pole discussion..I (& other ppl) brought up about removable poles :)
Re: At home pole & protecting my ceiling
If you are renting and DID damage the ceiling it is one of the easiest things to fix. Popcorn texture can be bought in a can. Spray it up there and the damage is covered. If the ceiling is flat you can buy a very small container of Spackle and a spatula. Apply as flatly as possible (like icing a cake) and sand with a sanding sponge. If you need to paint over it- flat white ceiling paint is cheap as well. If it's your house Fuck IT! Don't take it down.

My results weren't *quite* that good, but nothing a tiny bit of magic eraser or paint couldn't fix. No need for plywood! :)
Re: At home pole & protecting my ceiling
i dont have an X pole...i have a fitpole, but it comes with a thin rubber circle that goes between the pole and the ceiling. ive had my pole for a few years and so far there has never been any damage at all.
