Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
So I recently switched from a $20 to a $15 lap dance club (which I worked at for over a year before). Between forced habit, being a bit drunk, and being money hungry, I tell customers who have never been there that it's $20/song.
I had one day where it was so slow I sold a single dance the whole night, so of course I ask for $20. Apparently that customer complained to the manager. He then scolded me and said I'm lucky the boss didn't hear about it, because I would have been fired.
I find it kind of ridiculous because they allow girls to undercharge at $10/song (. . . no thanks), yet I'm not allowed to do $20? I've heard of other dancers doing it but I think they also offered "extra services" so no one complained. It's not as if it's posted anywhere in the club either.
Has anyone else had issues with management for up charging? I've worked in clubs where I could sell $30-40 nude dances when we're "supposed" to do $25 so this is odd.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
What a bitch! Complaining over $5? Really? And the manager backing him up? That's pure bullshit. You're not money hungry. I think $20 a song is very generous. If it were up to me all dances at all strip clubs would be $40 a song or more.
Yes. The club here tried to fix the price of a dance and claimed the dancers would face consequences if deviated.
I think you are right. How the hell can they reprimand you for a $5 increase but allow the cheap broads to serve a $5 or more decrease. That's unreal.
I'd either charge dudes for blocks of time, do not quote a per dance price. Or tell the manager he can shove that $5 up his a$$ and find a new club.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
I've definitely left clubs because of this. I think it's so stupid when managers take the side of whiny broke customers when I'm the one that pays them hundreds of dollars a week in fees and tip outs. However, if you want to keep working there, you can always offer guys the 'regular' 15 dollar dance and the special/naughty/better 20 dollar dance. This gives you some plausible deniability in that you still offer the cheap dance but most normal men will pay the extra 5 dollars for the better dance.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
we get in big trouble if your caught selling dances under $40 (which is the standard price)

This ^^
Plus always mention tips and the vast majority of guys should just give you the $20 anyways. If the clientele has issues with tipping that's what would make me leave. There are shit managers all over the place unfortunately, but if i'm making good money I'll deal with bs.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
You might say something like "this dance is $15, my top stays on, or, you can get the "special" $20-25 and you can touch my bare boobs" or whatever you're comfortable with. I used to not like giving nude dances, but didn't mind boob touching, so $20 got them a nude air dance, but $30 got them a boob-grab with my panties still on.

Do you have a copy of your contract? Does it say anything about no up-charging? One right of being an independent contractor is that you get to set your own rates. Taking this right away is illegal.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
Be careful about asking for tips too, or offering the different pricing options. Some clubs view that as overcharging and will fire you for that. Which is complete ass. The shitty thing is that some clubs are coming out with new contracts stating that you can't overcharge. This industry has really gone down the toilet >:(
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
our dances are paid100% at the bar so we have no way of doing this

[email protected] This club scanned my ID, printed the copy of it out, and wrote my stage name on it. That's all they have on file for me, not even a phone number. Around here they're really lenient with paperwork/official things. My last club didn't even see my ID/Dance Card or have me fill out papers, and I worked there 6 months. There's also been 2 local clubs in 10 years caught with minors (under 18 ) working, you'd think they would be more cautious.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
Whaaaat what club do you work at where dances are $40? At my club they're only $10
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
This is crazy I know options can be pretty limited in certain areas but you girls should at a club that let's you charge way more!! My club in Denver the girls will make your life hell if they hear you're charging less than 40! I charge 60 for nude and ask for a tip on top tbh... get to a more respectful club if you guys can for real!!! So outrageous
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
The club I'm at now is 20 minutes away. I can't work in Detroit because lap dances are illegal and I don't need a criminal record from a strip club. The next nearest one that's legal is over an hour away from me, so it's not do'able. And I'm stuck in this state/area 3 more years to finish off school, sometimes you just work with what options you have. It's not that the club isn't respectful, it's in a blue collar area so nobody can afford to spent $40+ on a dance.
Re: Not Allowed to Up-Charge?
Ugh -_- I get that for sure... I think someone suggested this earlier in this thread but if I was in that situation, once I was in the back with them I would give the option of either a regular dance for whatever your club charges or a "VIP" dance for $15-20 more... as long as you're sure you can get away without getting in trouble. We're not technically allowed to charge over 50 at my club so what I do is say it's 40 for dances on the floor and then when I'm in the back I'll clarify by saying it's 40 for topless or if you want nude dances it's 60... they almost always go for the upsell and that way I'm not going around on the floor stating an "overprice" that I could potentially get in trouble for
