Unfashionable newbie
Okay so i need some fashion and makeup tips. I will hopefully be auditioning in january and my makeup skills are NOT GOOD. im not even sure that i have the basics. i know how to do eye liner and mascara but thats pretty much it. What are some basics that i need (im sure i can look up a tutorial online of how to apply it but a list of basic supplies would be absolutely appreciated)
I also have kind of a punk rock style in my day to day life and i know this will put off some customers i was wondering if i should tone this down (probably) but im way more comfortable wearing basic black stuff would this hurt me with customers or do you all think it is fine?
And anything else you all think would be good to know. I have been stalking the forums for a bit now but i hadnt really seen anything on the makeup i think since most girls have some sembalance of makeup skills.
Thank you in advance!

Wearing the color black is fine,,it's a sexy color! I'm not sure I'd go in there with a punk rock style though, once you get your foot in the door and get beyond the steep learning curve you can get more creative with your look! For now I'd jut stick with the basic stripper looks like tube dresses, bikinis, gowns, stockings, etc and long hair. Every club differs slightly on dress code. But keep it basic "pretty girl" til you've gotten some experience.
Its hard to give you a basic makeup list cause we all have different makeup styles..but I personally always keep
A black or brown eyeliner. Lately I've been into amethyst liner.
A brow pencil or powder
Mascara
False lashes (if you're into them, a lot of girls aren't)
A compact of a few different colored eye shadows that compliment your eyes. I'd start with neutrals or light colors
A tinted moisturizer/sunscreen or foundation
A blush (I absolutely love cream blush, it really adds a youthful flush and makes eyes sparkle)
A few lipsticks or lip glosses
Some girls get into highlighters and contouring but idk much about that and it's not for beginners.
Now you don't have to wear all this makeup at once,,I find it better to concentrate on lips/cheeks with a plainer eye or play up eyes instead of lips.

Re: Unfashionable newbie
I always wore black.
Made me look goth and stealthy so the other dancers rarely tried me. The customers are horny ass dudes most of them could give two shits what color you're wearing as long as you look good in it.

Re: Unfashionable newbie
get decent brushes! even if its nyx or elf at Target. You aren't helping yourself with tutorials if you have to fight your tools. It made a big difference to me.
You can also get a lesson on a how to do a basic smokey eye at Sephora (expect to buy $50 of stuff, you can write this off on taxesas a business expense)

^^^^yes! I recently figured out how to blend eyeshadow and realized I was missing a certain brush. Applying makeup is a great skill to be able to enhance your beauty.

Re: Unfashionable newbie
Thank you so much for all the great replies. I kind of overlooked the bodybuisiness section so i will definitely take some time to pick through those! I will probably just wear something simple black or something with black just so im more comfortable. Will definitely look for some good brushes and that list of supplies you posted (we had a rabbit like you) is so great i will definitely make sure i have all of those things. Thank you again!

Re: Unfashionable newbie
Also, I look @ magazines in the library - the current ones can't be checked out, but the past months can.
I learn a lot from them reading about new prods especially
I've gone to Sephora, I think you have to buy something (sometimes they have free coupons tho) I bought 10.00 lashes which they put on for me.
Dept stores do makeup they used to have free lessons but I'm not sure if they do now

Re: Unfashionable newbie
They will do a little make up for free for you. If you want a full face, expect to spend $50.00 on products or they will charge you. Just look on Youtube.
It's not hard. Go slow.
Don't apply a ton of product to your brushes or tools. Just use a little bit and then you can always add more if it is not dramatic enough. If you need full face make-up (like your skin isn't so great so you need concealer, foundation and powder) invest in a good primer. Mac makes the best eye shadow IMO hands down but I really like this one brand from Walmart as a cheap alternative that is almost the same quality. I will add the name in the am my makeup is in the car and my Pats are playing. If you do decide to wear fake eyelashes DO NOT rip them off. Make sure you use some type of oil or eye makeup remover. I have a friend who is 34 and she can not not have fake eyelashes because she ruined her real ones so bad I think she will have bald spots for the rest of her life.
Black is fine. You can also do deep purple and maybe black and red and still feel like you are comfortable dressing like you.
