changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
so I always lose out with customers when the convo goes to 'my story'. you know that "where are you from?, how long have you been here? how come?' BS that is so redundant to tell.
But I run into another problem where the customer thinks I'm full of shit, how can I possibly have no accent being from a foreign country yada yada, blah blah blah.
Ideally, I wanna keep the convo light and sexy and not talk about where I'm from and what I went to school for. But I was thinking of making up a 'fake' story.
Fake story: I went to high school in the States (I did NOT but nobody has ever grasped the concept of that) and then started nursing school. Or maybe Esthetician school cause I wanna open a spa or something along those lines. I had a son and had to take a break and now I'm really trying to finish my school. Sad single mom story.
What do you think?
What's your fake story that goes over well with customers? cause my real story just alienates me, and thenthey think I'm a weirdo or Russian Spy. Which equates to no sale and no $$$$ and I wanna convert everyone if I can.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
I'd tell them to stfu, quit all this mindless chatter, and let's cut to the chase ...... (insert best cash extracting sales pitch here)
But yeah sometimes I loathe the pleasantries cause every now and then a dude will go all intellectual and sh*t like dude I could care less, you could care less, its not like were dating or marrying so the detail I tell you about myself right now, in the grand scheme, is not that important or worth having to boggle my mind for the next 10 min. Sometimes the less talking the better.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
Oh man, I feel your pain (and I hate that question! Story? Like, you want me to just spit out an essay?)
If I tell them the truth (2 science degrees & in grad school limbo), you can feel the wallet dry up like the Sahara.
I have tried telling them a vague "Oh I got a degree, did a bunch of other jobs, hated it all, but really like dancing"... some let it go & some did this weird thing where they'd eye me up and then vehemently accuse me of lying and try to pry the truth out :banghead: So that CAN work, depending how interested they are or how much of a pompous ass they are.
I have 2 'stories' now:
- In undergrad for a psych or nursing degree. Those are 'non-threatening' fields for their fragile male egos. "Oh I don't really have hobbies, I'm always studying or working here!" This one goes over well with the guys who want to feel they're helping some poor girl out.
- Dumb, dumb, dumb stripper stereotype. I tell them I'm from this tiny, quaint New England town and it was "sooooo boring" and I moved out here to go to the party school. My hobbies include shopping and nightclubs *giggle, hair flip* I looooove doing this because they decide I am too dumb to talk to and almost immediately ask about dances :rotfl:
Side rant: Guys make fun of stereotypical strippers for baby daddy drama, drug problems, etc etc. But then if you don't have any of that & are just a normal girl, they give you a bunch of shit too. And then even further, God forbid you be doing something REALLY responsible like using the $ to start a business or applying to grad school... then 90% of them want nothing to do with you ::) Can't win with these guys.

It's because if you are a "normal girl" in this field you are misbehaving, acting outside of the social norms. If you are the "stereotypical dumb stripper" you must have "done something to get there", be "damaged" some how; the customer can remove themselves from the complications of a transaction with a peer and be a "helpful guy" or get something they can't ask a "normal girl" for.
We become "that kind of girl".

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
I feel ya.
My story is that I'm in nursing school but I can't stay away from the club because the money is good and its so much fun!!
I feel bad about lying about kids. I don't know why but I do.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
When customers ask me personal questions like that I answer it pretty fast and short so i can change the subject lol. I used to talk about my real self too much and it always turned customers off or made me friend zoned. Now I just briefly say i graduated from college last year, felt like moving to a new city, and now i'm just having fun working at clubs. And if they ask what my major was I just say Kinesiology ("you know.. like the body and stuff!" lol) and don't go into details because pre-physical therapy undergrad working towards grad school just kills the vibe a little. Just answering them lightly and changing the subject usually works for me.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
Direct away. Often you can dress up a story with an awkward climax that makes the customer either want to do dances, or stop wasting your time.
Examples- "I was going to college until my mother passed away & that led to me needing to take a break from my studies. I really don't like dwelling on it...(cue fake tears)
"I work at a data entry job during the day. It's SO boring!!!! ugghh."
"I work from home during the day so I always look forward to coming in here, it's my EXCITEMENT..."

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
^ YES distract & change the subject back to them.
For example... the token question at my club is "So are you actually from AZ?" and I always say "Yep! You're not, huh? Minnesota? Oh wow so where do you like better?" and voila, they're rambling about shoveling snow.
I will turn literally any question around on them. The key is to do it in a cute way. I will sometimes just say "Oh I like to go shopping... what do YOU do for fun? *giggle*" and then whatever they say is the most fascinating thing you've ever heard, and it sounds really difficult, and you've always wanted to try golfing ;)
They ask questions about us, but really the customers you will make real money off of are the ones you can make feel like THEY are the interesting one and that you wanna know THEIR story.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
Real story: I have a day job working from home doing IT (I look nerdy so it's realistic) and I'm going to community college for Psychology (specifically Sex Therapy). I started dancing at 18 when I babysat for my friend who was a dancer and gave me a tiny sliver (for watching her kid) out of her fat stack of cash and wanted some of that big money action for myself.
I basically tell customers the same thing except "I'm going for business management at a university." I said Psych as a baby stripper but a LOT of customers just said ~oh, so you're just trying to analyze me right now~ and get turned off.
I'll frequently turn conversation to how many clubs I've worked at (9) and tell some ridiculous story about how "their rules are so strict, but here you're allowed to touch my boobs!" or "customers had to pay $40 for a song there, here it's only 15!" to sell a dance.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
There's some good advice in here for sure! My real story is pretty interesting and I dance really far from where I grew up so there are certain things I will be honest about (crazy stories from my partying days, my ethnicity, where I grew up) etc. I def. will have to selectively lie about what I do during the day when I go back because it is a little weird that I would dance with such a good primary and also it might intimidate some customers. Also, since I Was about 25-26 (when I quit) I would have custys accuse me (sometimes passive/aggressively) of lying about having kids. I don't know if it's my giant boobs or my age or what. I really love kids and want to have one in the next few years but I somehow managed to get through my teens without a kid- what is so shocking about this???

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
This is an interesting thread:
I know that I am not really a stripper but I do change my "stories" for camming and phone sex. My advice can help some of you guys. In camming, I say that I am going to school for either communications or Art history. Also I say that I am camming for the extra income because my waitress/cocktail waitress is not paying enough. Guys do not ask any more questions about school or my other jobs after that.
In phone sex, you can get away with more of a mess up story. But I am sure that would not work at a stripclub :)

i should have explained, I really am a single mom. I feel the same way the other way around in that i'd rather not tell them i have a child but i do.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
REALLY good advice here, thanks everyone!
Ok so i gotta turn up the moronic drunk slut, and I think I will tell them I'm trying to go back to school.
I stick out in that I don't have tattoos, and am white etc. (a rarity here) so customers literally think I'm an undercover all the time. I guess I seem like I'm fake, I'm really trying to work on that.

I'm the same at my club.. stick out for not having tattoos and I'm a blonde white girl. I think this just helps with the drunk slutty college student persona. You can say you recently graduated, partied way too much, and now you're just loving getting naked for money! It'll keep the convos from getting too deep or serious lol.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
Sometimes I tell people random stories that are totally fictional for my own amusement. I told one guy I was a professional Scrabble tournament contender and I compete all over the country. That I won a scrabble competition in Vegas and got a cash prize, a bronzed scrabble trophy, and a thesaurus. He totally believed me and was impressed by it!! I laughed so hard inside.
Another guy asked me what brought me to southern CA. I told him I was in the witness protection program and I couldn't discuss why I was out here.
The shit people believe.

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
lmao i might use the witness protection one, i think it would break the ice with a lot of guys

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
Oh man I have the most ridiculous story. Small town Georgia girl, 9 siblings, Duggar type household. I somehow got out and got a degree in electrical engineering (when I lived in Texas I used to say aerospace engineering). It's rife with stories about how I was always sexually repressed as a child, and now am just too wild. The downside is, I tell them I'm getting my masters degree, and one guy was like "wait, so you graduate next month!" (The program was 2 years long, he had been a regular for 2 years). Luckily I was moving a few months later so I could say I "got a real job". He brought me the sweetest graduation card and wrote a page inside full of "I'm so proud of you I knew you could do it" and I felt really bad. :(

Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
lmao thats hilarious.
I am currently trying to think up another fake major. Right now I say my major is sociology, and that I want to study how society is effected by social media, to which EVERYBODY has an opinion and its a great conversation opener. But there's always the occasional person who thinks sociology is the same as psychology and thinks i'm going to read their mind or analyze them, and gets weirded out. some people are so dumb.
i don't know enough about any other subjects to pretend they're my major (except my real major, which I dont wanna talk about) so idk what else to say for now.
-
Re: changing 'your story'/avoiding having to tell it altogether
You know, buttonpop, there is a major called Social Media marketing. You can use that as your fake major :)

LOL! I used to say sociology and people would be like "are you trying to physcoanalyze me?". Huh?
Nursing works well for me. As does art school. Sometimes I say I'm in teachers college or in college to be a dental tech. Things that are gendered professions and aren't intimidating to these losers with fragile masculinity.
