WebCamming in Virtual Reality
Hi,
I guess this will be a few questions, starting with a little explanation:
I'm currently developing a Virtual Reality project about the relationship between webcam performers and those that visit their rooms. I know the subject is huge and all encompassing, so I would like to focus on how certain relationships develop out of the titillation and into something based more on friendship and support. I know from experience that people do use the sites as ways to talk about things that they cannot in their real lives and that the payment structure balances the relationship.
The VR experience itself would place the user into the perspective of a performer, whilst providing information through environmental interaction and voice over and also a live feed through a virtual screen, that would read out a feed of those wanting to chat to the user in virtual reality, including Private Messaging. In short, a simulation of the Webcam experience in virtual reality, alongside a narrative built from the true experiences of WebCam models.
So, I guess the questions are:
1. Is the principle of building a project out of this somewhat romanticised notion of how some relationships are between performer and client realistic or just nonsense?
2. Are there more interesting areas in the relationships between parties that would be better explored?
3. Would this be something that could be interesting to both Webcam models and their visitors? I am always wary of creating projects that wouldn't be interesting to the subjects involved.
If you have any ideas, answers or would like to be more directly involved, please do get in touch: [email protected]
Thanks so much.
