May you be blessed with good fortune in the upcoming future. I'm scraping by right now myself and working on a new financial plan, learning from my mistakes. Glad to hear you had a good Christmas dinner :)
This exactly.
I'm actually going to move your thread to Other Work since it's more about escorting rather than stripping. I would highly recommend going through the threads there and asking questions over there if you seriously deciding to go the escorting route. It has a lot of good information, though I agree it's far riskier to start escorting when you're desperate for cash as opposed to stripping to get back on your feet or getting a minimum wage job for awhile to get some money coming in. Escorting is something that can go very very wrong when you're desperate. Please be safe.
God this thread broke my heart. I'm glad you got to eat Christmas dinner. What city are you in? If you don't mind me asking. I wish I could take you in so bad. As far as escorting goes, I'm in the business and have been for a couple years now. If you PM me, I can give you some helpful tips if you are serious about escorting. I'm super selective about who I see (through screening the hell out of em!!) and so far *knock on wood* nothing has gone bad and all of my clients have been total gentlemen. I want to help you. Hope to hear from you soon and keep your head up! Things WILL get better, I promise.
yeah, christmas dinner was the first real meal i have had in over a month, other then that its been fast food scraps and donuts when i can afford it, i used to be a health freak but i have to eat something even though not healthy,
was nice and appreciated to have a real meal with vegetables and everything, im sure my body enjoyed it as well, as the old saying goes, you dont know how good you have it till its gone,
i am in miami....internt time is over for today, i will be back when i can
Did you manage to get a phone yet?
Shoot. I'm back and forth between OH and ATL. I do know people in Miami but not people in the business. I know your internet time is up for today, but please shoot me a PM when you see this and let me know your plan (as far as if you want to pursue escorting or stripping) and I can definitely help you out. Praying for you girl.
Have you tried to get food stamps? You can get like a safe link phone for free if you do .....
I hate to be the one but I think #1 wrong way to enter the industry is desperately needing money....it gives off a desperate vibe while working, people make crazy decisions when broke, men just have that 6th sense, you will come off as trying too hard no matter how hard you try not to appear that way and you will end up selling yourself short.
Your best bet, IMO is get a "normal" job to save up..that way, you dont have much to worry about and the job os fun for you- like its suppose to be.
I would never ever advise entering the sex biz desperate.
IDK if you have a mailing address (a friend? maybe the shelter can receive) but I have a Nokia Lumia - it's nothing fancy but it's sitting and will take any kind of chip in it, even if it's a prepaid random service like cricket or idk smart something ... ? It lets you do the whole email internet thing and honestly have two and was just going to toss them.
If you need it I can ship it to you.
It was previously stated earlier in the thread that gov't sponsored phones aren't good & why that is, also about getting a vanilla job, & why escorting may not be the best idea right now.
Just saying, so the same things aren't being repeated.
So anyway, OP, thinking of you..
If/when you're ready to dance I may have a couple things I could send you (free) to get started with..
I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get hired doing in store demos, handing out food samples in grocery stores, they have liquor sampling too.
Fushion is the name of one company, they hire for that, look in Craigslist or Google event companies
Try to get hired for a convention too - both of these types of work usually pay quickly, I know of someone who was in your situation that was able to get hired.
Also, I'm not in your area, of course things can vary by region.
Also, when you do get your phone, you can do phone sex on Nite Flirt w/a cell, there's a whole big thread on that in Camming Conn, a lot of ladies do that for a side hustle.
Keep updating, please
Good luck & God Bless.
^^^ Convention stuff is a great idea, and some of it is cash in hand for booth models etc.
Do you have any credit cards?? Buy some shoes and one outfit and go to the nearest club even if it's a dive just to at least buy food. Sign up for any govt assistance. Are you opposed to escorting? Sell anything you might have...but at least find a shelter to stay at in the mean time I'm so sorry I hope things get better for you....
If all else fails you can work at a min wage job like a fast food place to get by until you can afford to buy something if you need to dance. You can do this, also see if there are any resources to help you get work at the shelter, but you maybe able to get govt assistance
I entered the sex industry when I was desperate. I was so broke when I started dancing, I had to borrow an an outfit my first night bc I couldn't afford to buy anything. And that dancing job saved my ass, I was so grateful for it. Sometimes you do what you have to in life...this woman is homeless. i know it's not ideal situation but sometimes you gotta hustle in life
My bad, I haven't been on this thread in awhile. Completely missed the part about how bad a government phone can be. Thanks, Glamormilf for that insightful information.
This may have already been stated, & obiv doesn't apply to all locations
What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless
FOOD
Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
*My note: I'm in the midwest, I'd suggest the woods - but be careful!
Also, in my area, you sign up for overnight shelter around 5 - 6pm, you must leave in the a.m.
Shelters here are only open Nov - March or April, not sure which.
If you have a car: Rest stops - again, they may be monitored. Sometimes a parking lot but there are
many regulations*
sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
Some churches offer short term residence
Find your nearest homeless shelter
Look for places that are open to the public
A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
Local beaches, go for a quick swim
Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket
OTHER
first aid kit
sunscreen
a travel alarm clock or watch
mylar emergency blanket
a backpack is a must
downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
sleeping bag
travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
swiss army knife
can opener
Hey check around to see if you can get a merchandising job on a music tour. Your accomodation & travel is paid for & you just sell items at shows. It's a way to not be homeless while saving up a little money.
This is all excellent advice in my opinion based on past experience being homeless. Only thing I'd add: a post office box. If you can't get one at the post office, a UPS or Fedex store should get you a box. (I was homeless during tax season...getting all my w-2's and whatnot was extremely important. Also receiving local mail can prove "residence" which is an issue for some assistance organizations)
I used to take the city transit bus (I had an unlimited pass) for the A/C, wifi, and naps. The YMCA in my area is really expensive, but Planet Fitness had their $10 plan. I was really lucky to have a p.o. box, a storage unit, a job, a gym, and a laundromat on the bus route.
Things get better, it just takes time. :goodvibes
Ok, thanks^..
I wanted also to say, a UPS box might be better, as it's considered a 'street' address, & a PO Box is not. This's from personal experience. A UPS box will cost more tho.
Op does not seem to come on very often which makes sense due to limited internet access. I will add to Whirlerz post about the homelessness tips- Almost every beach in South Fl has free showers for washing sand off. I saw a homeless man showering himself at the beach the other day when I was walking my dog. That is always an option. I think she is in a shelter though.
Op: if you come back and really want to take some of the posters here on their offers for clothes and phones and such I can give them my address to have things shipped here (as long as they are users I am familiar with and can drive it to you). Persianprincess and Whirlerz have offered you a phone and some outfits. I would be willing to PM both of them my address to have things shipped here.
You can apply for food stamps online but I am not sure how they would get the card to you.
I can also give you some shoes but all of mine are a size 6. I have three pairs I have never worn or worn once and a few used pairs. I might have a bag too. I def. have some garters. I have a few outfits as well but they are sized medium.I bought some things I never wore and I will be able to buy myself other clothes before I start dancing again so you can have them. I can give you bikini tops as well. I have to go into my attic to double check but there is a slight possibility I have thongs I have never used. (Compulsive shopper). I have a friend who is retired and might be willing to part with some outfits and maybe shoes (shoe size 7 - I'll have to talk to her) but both of us have really big boobs. I have tons and tons of body sprays, lotions, nail polish, a curling iron and unused razors and soaps I can pack up for you. I def. have earrings still on the package and jewelry I can part with as well. I am not sure what you were able to take with you or not.
I am pretty cool with the manager of my old club and they have 2 locations in Miami so I can help you get an audition but I am not going to chase you down. If you want our help PM the other posters and me and I will work to get it set up for you.
Wal-Mart parking lots let people with motor homes park free overnight. I have a car, and asked the manager if I could park there as well. I told him it would be temporary. He said yes. Bring a sleep mask, because the parking lot lights are very bright.
I went to late showings of movies, or matinees.
Ihop, and all night Denny's became my friends, and a true port in the storm.
I needed a 'physical' address so cam companies could send my checks from when I last worked.
The post office has this option. I paid for 6 months upfront, but you can do a month at a time.
Staying warm was my biggest hurdle.
I would spend all day in the Library, then I'd wrap some tin foil, and cardboard boxes to cover myself in my car at night. I also had plenty of blankets, scarves, gloves, socks, boots.
Well, that may be true @ your WM/location, but not here..actually there was one I knew of that allowed that here, & I saw the trailers there too.
But, in same area another location there was security monitoring the parking lot & they had signs posted saying you can't be parked there for more than 20 min (they have those signs in a lot of store lots around here.
The one location I lived had a public parking garage but it banned overnight parking, same thing on most of the streets.
There's a strip mall w/a 24 hr IHOP, I've seen limo drivers napping around there at all hours
I've slept in my car A LOT in the past few years & yes, Wal Mart usually turns a blind eye to this. Also if you're in a smallish city you can park on residential streets. The worst that can happen is that you'll be asked to move.
