I pulled a manager aside and told her I didn't appreciate all the questions about my life and why I'm staying at a hotel when I live so close by. I told her a tree fell on my house and I was having extensive work done on it. She was super apologetic, said she would discuss this with the front desk girl, and gave me a discount on the room for my troubles. I guess I just got lucky. If I saw cops swarming the parking lot, I would have got the fuck out of there, too. And a first floor room right by the front office? Fuuuuuck that! You made the right choice by choosing to go with your gut. This is also why I try to use many different hotels and brands of hotels (they can see your last stay, how often, etc.).
