Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
I haven't done it yet, but I am desperate. I suffer from intrusive thoughts nonstop/OCD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I literally only left my house once in the past three months and that was only to see family for Christmas. I had a difficult time even leaving for that. I act really anxious and nervous around family. Even around my boyfriend. Even when I am by myself and he is at work. It never stops.
I work from home. I give my boyfriend my bank card and he does all the food shopping so that I never have to leave. I do not have health insurance. I had Medicaid three years ago, but I didn't send in my income amount in time so they stopped it. My fault, I know. I tried applying for Obamacare during the open enrollment period a bit ago. I put on my application that I am disabled (mental illness). So then, it would not let me complete my application and instead sent me to apply for Medicaid again.
I tried applying for Medicaid, but in order to apply for Medicaid, I have to have a recent psychiatric evaluation as well as a recent physical by a deadline, which was today. The problem is, I called at least ten different doctors and since I am not already a patient anywhere, there is a waiting list. The waiting lists were always a month and a half to two months or more since the time I called. AND you have to get a docotor's referral to see a phychiatrist. I called Medicaid several times and tried explaining to them that I do not already have a doctor and that there is a waiting list everywhere, so there is no way I would be able to complete what I needed to by the deadline.
They were no help at all and acted like I magically need to make it happen, so I gave up on applying for Medicaid. Now I have to wait until next year to try to apply for Obamacare again. :/
I just do not want to feel like this anymore. No one should be so sick in the head that they won't and can't even leave the house. I can't afford meds without insurance because I remember what I was taking was like $500-$700 at a time and I was on more than one medication, so it would end up being double that. :(
Canadian pharmacies are way, way cheaper but I have been reading that it is illegal to buy prescription pills online without a prescription, especially when they are coming from out of the country. I really do not want to go to jail over trying to fix my mental health on my own terms. I just don't know what to do. I feel so lost and really feel like giving up on life lately. I do not have a life at this point anyway.

Can you go to the Emergency room to get a doctor's referral?
-
Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
I don't think I can, as I have dealt with this since I was 13. They might not see it as an emergency, but I will try anyway. Thank you.

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
I don't think so but If it's illegal in your state then might not want to do that. Idk. I foolishly bought pharmaceuticals online a few years ago without prescription and without thinking of the consequences (like it could be illegal or it could be some sugar pills or worst some poison or something) thankfully nothing bad happened but I wouldn't recommend it.
There's got to be some sort of government resources you could use to get low cost medication. In the meantime you can go to a local grad school psychology dept and get low cost therapy and they could point you to some affordable psychiatric resources. You could also just go to the ER like if you feel you're in immediate danger mentally and just worry about the bill later.
I personally would not trust those places online where you buy without a prescription because they are usually lower quality and you have no clue what's in their pills.

You can go to an emergency room any time you need to see a doctor, if there are no other options. Also, look to see if there are any urgent care centers in your area.

I do not think you will go to jail because I do not think it is heavily regulated. I would not drive around with the pills in your car or anything though,

The reality is you won't go to prison for buying prescription drugs online. I didn't do because I'm a wuss but I looked into and wouldn't blame people without insurance for doing it at all. If you order them and take them though make sure someone knows (like your boyfriend) in case you end up having a reaction to something.
You could go to an ER and tell them you are suicidal, then they will have to admit you. If you go to an ER saying you are having anxiety problems they might treat you.

It depends on the medication. Some psychiatric drugs and pain-killers are very addictive and are illegal to obtain without a prescription.

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
Psychiatric drugs are nothing to fuck with, as I'm sure you know.. I've had withdrawals that were hell from simple anti depressants, and it would make me wildly uncomfortable to buy unregulated pills that affect brain chemistry that much without getting an up to date diagnosis and script from a real pharmacy. Doubt you'd go to prison, that's not what I'd b worried about.
I've also been uninsured 99% of my life and had a lot of inherited mental illness so I get your side of it. What state do you live in?? Have you been to your local welfare office to get an actual caseworker yet?? Or go to your local hospital and they have workers ther that help you navigate the bullshit, at least that's what I did.

Unless it's something you could possibly get high from you would probably not get in trouble. I wouldn't carry them around with you though.

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
Here's an example of penalties for possession of a psychiatric drug without a prescription. This is for the drug Klonopin:
http://drugabuse.com/library/klonopi...nd-statistics/
Legal Penalties Involving Klonopin
Klonopin is federally classified as a Schedule IV
Unlawful possession of prescription drugs can result in both misdemeanor and felony charges, with potential prison time or fines. In some states, this can carry a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.
Use of Klonopin can cause impaired driving and lead to a DUI charge.
If caught with Klonopin or clonazepam without a prescription, you may face $500,000 to $1 million in fines and/or up to 10 years in prison.

I don't know why, this just struck me as being very funny.
Actually good advice though!

Good thing I have a prescription for the bottle of Klonopin that's sitting right in front of me right now. :)
Seriously, mental health medications are extremely individualized, with effects varying drastically from person to person. When I was having horrible insomnia, my doctor prescribed me Ambien. It made me feel like I guzzled a six pack of Red Bull.
Getting the exact dosage is crucial. I am also on lithium, which requires regular blood testing to maintain a working level.
Finding help for mental heath issues is so, so important. Please don't go it alone and don't give up until you can find someone that can help!

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
You can't self medicate with this stuff.
Go and see a psychiatrist and start to get some help, sound like you have agoraphobia and other issues going on and really do you want to just start popping random pills hoping to balance out?
If you really want to go and buy them - go on alphabay on the dark web, download the tor browser to use.
Sorry if I repeated anything anyone else said.

Then please try to find a clinic. Are you comfortable saying what city are you in?

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
Thank you, everyone. I've decided to not try to buy pills online though. I have been reading that they might even just be placebo pills, or that they can put whatever they want in them, etc and I really do not want to risk going to prison. I'm going to see if there is an insurance plan i can pay for other than Obamacare. I'm not sure that there is, but there has to be something else out there...

I'm in Idiana. I've tried looking online for sliding scale health clinics, but couldn't really find anything for mental health. :/

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
If you feel you're in really bad condition, please try an emergency room or urgent care center. Even if they don't have mental health care professionals, a doctor can tell you where you can go to get treatment.

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
I have bought from these pharmacies DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
Coming from a chic that knows her meds, knows how they are suppose to work etc. All BATCHES I RECEIVED... all pills crumbled before getting them out of the package.I had no relief and put myself in a dangerous withdraw. I was slapped with a 4k medical bill for unnecessary bs at the er.
Drs understand if you cant pay the bill, you need to let them know you need sample packets. more than likely they will have ur meds or something similar. Some drug companies have vouchers available.
To answer your question, no you will not go to jail, they give you a prescription signed by dr in the country the pills came from.
I ordered from Canada but meds came from India

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
Erika actually posted what I was going to add.
I did not mean to say that it was not illegal to have the drugs without an Rx but that if you buy them online they will give you a Rx and you should not go out and about with them because they come in packets and not a labeled bottle. You are very unlikely to go to prison because the DEA isn't going to kick in the door of some person buying plls for personal use from an international website.
I one time bought some diet pills online. I get phone calls at least 3-5 times a week trying to sell me "provigil" (I guess it is like Xanax) and some other shit. Obviously this is an existing niche market and the OP needs meds, does not have insurance and is in a bind. I completely agree with the other posters who suggest she go to a Dr. and also that she may have agoraphobia but... her question was about going to jail for buying online and I do not think she would.

Re: Will I go to prison for buying prescription pills online without insurance?
Add to this, the drugs look nothing like what I take. yes similar but no.
I had buyers remorse once I opened the silver packet and my pills broke. I actually felt like a feen tbh.
ALSO this is how it works
You place the order and pay, wait 3-5 days for a dr to sign off
Then you wait for it to be filled.
Then they ship it.
I paid for a 2 day ship not knowing it would take 2 weeks to get the damn things filled.
call pp and see if they can help
