How to pay taxes as a stripper?
So I start dancing this Tuesday, and truthfully idk how long I'll be doing it (gonna see how the first few days go but I'd really like to dance for a while due to my financial situation), but I know nothing about taxes. Literally NOTHING. I know that's bad but blame my irresponsible parents I guess lol.
Anyways, I'd like to pay taxes, I don't want to risk getting in trouble for NOT paying them. But where and when do I file them?? If I start dancing how long afterwards should I decide to start filing? What the heck does claiming mean and should I be claiming everything I make? I've been told to journal everything I make and tip out when I leave, so that's what I'm going to do, but out of curiosity how do they know if you're lying about how much you made in a night? Should I also be writing down how much I spend on clothing/accessories/gas money for the job? Should I hire someone to do my taxes for me or use something like Turbo Tax? If I use turbo tax, I know nothing about that either..
SORRY, I know that's a LOT of questions, but I'm completely new to this! Thanks in advance for your help ;D
Re: How to pay taxes as a stripper?
Find out if your club issues 1099's. They should mail them to you at the end of the year if they do.
If not, you have to keep track of your earnings and everything you deposit. That is the number you will claim. You have to hire an accountant, preferably someone who knows about the adult/entertainment industry so ask around your club for someone. They will know what you can and cannot deduct so yes start saving your receipts. They won't know if you're lying but if you live in an area where your living expenses should be a certain amount and you are underreporting, they can audit you or if you are depositing more than you are claiming. Do not use turbo tax.
