Second hand smoke in the club..
Anyone else feeling as if all the second hand smoke we breathe in is harming you? I dance about three days a week sometimes only two and the day after I dance I spit up clear phlegm with tiny grey/black specks in it. I know it's from all the second hand smoke I breathe in and now i'm worried i've accumulated tar on my lungs. I don't smoke at all not even weed, do you think twice or three times a week being at the club is effecting my health or am i being a bit of a hypochondriac?
Re: Second hand smoke in the club..
It's not healthy for you. I used to live with smokers who smoked inside. I got bronchitis 3 times a year that was incredibly difficult to get rid of. I'm not sure your situation or options but I would consider working somewhere else.
Re: Second hand smoke in the club..
when i first started stripping my club allowed smoking indoors and i developed a chronic cough that i know for a fact was from the second hand smoke...OR just being around different people so often definitely worked down my immune system...so no youre not going crazy! like ryan said id try to find another club that doesnt allow indoor smoking since that is about all you can do.
Re: Second hand smoke in the club..

There's a lot out there still. My main club still has smoke indoors,he's trying to make it into a non smoking club though.
Re: Second hand smoke in the club..
God, I miss being able to smoke indoors. Yes, it's bad for you, yes, it leaves your clothes smelling like ass, but I really miss being able to just light up at the bar when it was slow. :(

Re: Second hand smoke in the club..
The club I used to waitress at you could smoke, also back in the day when I danced you could smoke then they banned it a year later. I hate the smoking inside gets in your hair and in your throat if your sick.
Re: Second hand smoke in the club..
I am the only person in my family who doesn't smoke (anything), so I grew up around it. My first club in 2012 was like an ashtray. I left smelling like one - so gross! Then I found a clean, grind dance only club that doesn't allow smoking inside. I've been there for almost 4 years now. However, last month, I worked elsewhere and the girls and customers were smoking around the stage area because it was "too cold" to go outside (the girls are allowed to go out to the parking lot and smoke). I got SO sick. I went to urgent care and they said I was having an allergic reaction. I got better, mostly, and then went back to my home club. The girls are allowed to smoke in the hallway leading to the dressing room. Walking through that cloud must have set me off because I immediately got sick again. Only the second time, it became a viral infection that had me on my ass and in bed most of December.
Unfortunately, there is nothing the managers are willing to do about the smoking at my club in the hallway, but I try to rarely go to the dressing room, so I'm good about avoiding that nastiness.
If you work at a bar that serves food, I believe the are supposed to prohibit smoking by law. At least in my state, so is the case. There are agencies you can contact or call if you want the smoking to stop. A friend of mine works at Penthouse Detroit and reported them for allowing smoking and sent in photos of people smoking around food as evidence. She said they got a HUGE ticket for it. I don't know who she contacted though or how. Just my two cents.

This is true, but there are loopholes, unfortunately. :( One place I used to work at got around this law I think by categorizing themselves as a cigar membership club or something like that. They sold cigars ITC and had this "membership" card that customers could buy which would get them special benefits like exemption from the bottle fee anytime they bought a CR. I developed a chronic cough while working there, and I still get short of breath anytime I'm around too much secondhand smoke. So yeah......working in a place like that is super unhealthy. :(
