Pear shaped engagement rings
Hey guys, I'm probably going to get engaged soon and my bf is interested in knowing what kind of ring I want. It seems like pear shaped engagement rings have really come in to style the past few years. I think they are elegant looking. HOWEVER do you think years down the line I'll regret asking for one because they ended up being a "fad" instead of classic? I want the biggest rock he'll give me (lol) HOWEVER I do want a timeless look.
For anyone who wants to know what I mean here is a picture https://www.instagram.com/p/BPnuzQCBRa-/
I've also thought about cushion cuts like this

Re: Pear shaped engagement rings
They're very pretty but I'm wondering what they look like paired with a wedding ring?
Re: Pear shaped engagement rings
I had one, yrs ago, it was what I wanted..never got married tho..
Me personally, I like round or square cuts (not emerald cut which's longer on the horizontal sides)
I think you get more stone w/the ones I mentioned, (they have to cut more to make the shape, also they're more expensive cuts) + they're classic
Re: Pear shaped engagement rings
I'm not a ring person, but..
I think square-cut looks aging, pear-cut looks a bit fad-ish to me.. I think circles look great, but rather than one, lonely, big stone, i like the look of one larger stone with some other stones on the side. Looks less gaudy to me. More modern.

Even though "pear" cuts may be a fad right now they have been around for since the 1980's that I know of- which is considerably a long time in the span of diamond engagement rings. If that is what you like, then that is what you like. If you are going to wear a band with it, you can get a band that is cut to fit it. Also, if you like Pear- you may like oval....

Re: Pear shaped engagement rings
I'm on my 3rd ring and my husband's on ring 2 and already thinking about changing his. I guess we get bored easily. You can always get another for your anniversary and switch them up or trade one in later..Save one for your daughter or son to give to his fiance. Just get what you think looks best :)

I love ovals! Think I'll get that one next. Lol! Right now I still like the square cushion cut
Re: Pear shaped engagement rings
I would say that pear shaped rings are more of classic than a fad. Usually, you must pair your pear shaped ring with a simple gold wedding brand. That emerald cut seems to work better as an engagement ring and have a more traditional feel to them. Most of my past engagement rings were heart-shaped like the Tiffany Soleste Heart ring or emerald shaped. Congrats on the future engagement :) Also, thank you for this thread :D
