About dancing..
OK, so I've been dancing for four months and I still have a few points to make.
I work at 2 clubs, one being a back up and to serve as a change of scenery from time to time and to maximize profits. Some days I occasionally work at both clubs in one day. One of them is night shift only.
So, dancing has never been my strongest skill, but I am eager to learn some moves. I can only dance to disco, techno, metal, k pop and old rap (pre 2000s). I don't feel too comfortable twerking or doing any Hip Hop moves (which makes me an anomaly since I am a black girl working at an urban club). I feel more comfortable attempting pop moves. Every time I try to twerk, I get worn out so easily. Am I doomed if I never learn to twerk? Should I focus on building rhythm and working up stamina before attempting twerking?
My first and main club is a no audition fast money club that was easy and convenient to get to. I would like to bid riddance to this club within 3 months and hope I can find a replacement soon. I know that urban clubs aren't it for me, but I've got a lot against me at the moment it seems to find a new and better club. I think my lack of dancing ability has been killing me.
I've also had problems with these snobby and aggressive customers who seem to prey on me bc I can't dance well. Two of them have not tipped me bc I basically can't dance well and I guess I am a bit meek and not confident in my dance moves. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with being in NYC.
My other club it's a little harder to make money. Either you make good money or you don't. The top earner is a petite Spanish girl with decaying teeth and horrendous breath (not to be mean but it's probable that came with drugs). All the others are mainly hideous Russians (I'm not saying they're ugly, but they clearly don't do much to take care of or enhance their looks). It's frustrating when this lot is even considered as any kind of competition.
I have lived in nyc for almost 6 months, but I don't foresee this as I place I want to settle. Sometimes this environment, the city, is just too much. I am probably going to be here no more than 2.5 years and will stay long enough to learn the ropes of dancing and just get established with a lot if things, which I am quickly doing.
I definitely would like to be out of this field once I've finished my studies and have established my career, so no more than 5 to 6 years really.
