I want to do my nose too. It is actually smallish but I broke it and want it back to normal. I worked with a girl who got a nose job and greatly increased her earnings but she had a pretty big bridge, I do not know what yours looks like now so It is hard to say.
I have been thinking about getting one for a long time. Everyone tells me not to get it because it would take away my "uniqueness" but I do think that's kind of a bs answer lol. The only thing holding me back is I look exactly like my grandmother and her and I are really close, and how rude and offensive would that be if I did that.. would kind of be a slap in the face to her. Ignore the after picture here but my nose right now pretty much looks like this:

I make good money now but I always wonder if I'm better off with a nose job. I can afford it. It's just definitely an irreversible procedure (vs botox lip injections etc) so that is what has been delaying my jump to do it.
I am doing mine up in Boston in the next 8 weeks ... being that I'm finally settling from boob job ... though my preferred surgeon is in Seattle.
Honestly I think if it boosts your self confidence, that can obviously lead to a improvement career/money wise because it just gives you that extra positive energy that rubs off.
Tho - I think as always it's so important to research your surgeon, see what type of "look" he tends to give people when they don't give strict instruction and get the whole visual imaging thing done where they show you what it'll look like.
I used to want a nosejob to get a dainty small nose since mine is a Really Big Egyptian Nose lol. I learned to love it though, especially since its my father's and now i couldnt imagine having any other nose. I would however like to have corrective surgery to fix my deviated septum so i could breathe a lil better and also to straighten/narrow it down a bit (but keep the bump and all) because it is pretty crooked and my face is asymmetrical as it is...
i work with a girl who got her nose done and it seems like it hasn't really effected her earnings, but she seems more confident.
I just got filler in my nose to make it more symmetrical. I guess a 'nonsurgical nose job' except he didn't use too much filler and its just temporary (restalyne) to see how I like it. I want to go back and possibly get more put in. It's so crazy how fast it worked the doctor pricked me a couple times and was like 'perfect!' lol.
If I needed more done to my nose I would get a surgical nose job though. I just don't think mine needed to be changed that much thats why I'm doing fillers.
I'm getting mine done before summertime. I don't have an appointment yet but that is my goal. I've been researching doctors for many years as I've wanted this done for basically my whole life lol. I've been able to make it work dancing because I have an "exotic" look (I'm Italian but I get asked if I'm middle Eastern a lot when I'm tan and I'm always tan at work haha)
Yes I second everyone to really do your research and go to someone who specializes in nose jobs. They're around $8k or more.
I think it'll help at work If it significantly boosts your confidence or if you don't have features that round it out in any way. My nose is huge so I know it'll make a difference for me haha
I had a nose job, but it was about a year before I started dancing, so I can't say whether it affected my earnings. But it made me feel a lot more confident in general. I had a wide nose bridge with a slight bump, and it always looked terrible in pictures.
Just make sure you research the hell out of your doctor. Make sure they have a lot of experience. There are so many people who get their noses redone because it wasn't done properly or according to what they wanted the first time.
I actually had one.
In addition, I had the boob job through the muscle, lipo of the back and saddlebags to give me a better shape and butt injections. I'm not sure about the surgery, and whether I like myself better or not after, but I was out of commission for a while. When I went to my old club in SF, all that work made absolutely no difference-granted it was very subtle changes, but nonetheless extensive and painful. That was disappointing. Then, I began work in the Southern CA area, and I wouldn't know whether the work was worth it or not because Southern CA is just, meh money.
I don't have an hourglass shape like many women. I's pretty straight, swimmer maybe runner type body with strong legs and flat-ish stomach, small bones, but soft-ish. For a bigger money market, I think the changes I've made to my body will be helpful than otherwise. As far as the nose, for me personally, my face is my best feature with or without the nose job. I get told I look like Heather Graham a lot or Kate Bosworth and a few other ppl, but that's mostly because of the shape of my face. I have a big head/face, so I'm not sure if my previous longer and wider nose fit my face better. I'm just undecided about what I think about the outcome of the work. Sometimes I regret the surgery. It makes me sad that I was so insecure and influenced by what others thought and the mean things customers (always the cheap ones) would sometimes say to succumb to the pressure to get it.
If your nose is distorted and looks abnormal, I'd say, of course, get the surgery. In that case, it'll definitely help. Otherwise, it's really a crapshoot as to whether it'll skyrocket your earnings like a good boob job with a drastic size increase can and even that is hypothetical.
I think that the competitive and image-conscious nature of this job makes us too obsessed with our looks. Ones' earning potential as a dancer is just about the market and the customer-base in it, as much as it is about each individual dancer.
Oh, and just to add, after reading the post right above mine. I definitely look more photogenic after the nose job. However, as someone that's been doing the acting thing for the last couple of years as a hobby, I'm concerned that it might have made me less videogenic. I watch myself and wonder where the rest of my nose is, and sometimes, it looks too straight to me from up top where the bump was shaved off.
I think you should just decide for yourself. But unless your nose is obviously disfigured, I'd probably shy against it.
I just had mine done about a week and a half ago. I haven't gone back to work just yet so I'm not sure if it will increase my earnings. I assume it will, though, since my big nose really affected my confidence and I would straight up not approach some customers becaus I assumed they wouldn't go for me because of my nose. I'm of Italian heritage, so it had a big hump, droopy when I smiled, hung over... the whole 9 yards lol. So I assume it'll make a difference.
You are swollen for about a year, although much of it will subside in a couple months. But you don't see the final result until about a year. I'm a week and a half post op and I already LOVE it. It looks so natural but it's completely different and fits my face so well.
My doctor doesn't do computer imaging but he specializes in nose jobs and has been doing them for 20+ years. Old school approach but I saw a lot of before and after pics before I decided to go with him. So happy I did. This was in NY
How long do you think you will be taking off of work LadyJezebel? I'm asking because I am getting mine done soon and I am not sure how long to anticipate to take off from stripping.
I do know a girl who told me she regretted getting a nose job b/c her nose was her "character" and even though she looks beautiful I know what she means.... In chinese culture they believe some nose shapes are more fortunate than others, like a slightly bulbous nose is good luck.
I've been wanting to get mine done since I was a kid and I am pretty sure I will get it done next summer in May after I graduate. I am aiming for a pretty dramatic change so I'd rather wait until I'm done instead of having to deal with awkward questions and people not recognizing me LOL. The doctor I plan on getting surgery with is known for dramatic change. I spoke to a girl who had her nose done by him and she looks like a model now, he makes people look like celebrities, but it's such a huge change, although she's really happy now, she had a difficult time at first and even cried because she couldn't recognize herself but she's glad she had it done, she's so much more confident now.
Please be careful about using fillers, in the long-term it can cause breathing problems.
Girls do not hesitate about it get it done and don't think about it! If you are in this line of work and you want to make BIG money I would go with your gut feeling! 'ignore' what other people say! they are either just being kind or are jealous and don't want you to look better than you do now.
I had mine done 4 years ago and it took me guts to do it but I know deep down I wanted it doing and I have felt so much more confident but I need another one doing as I feel my nose needs to be shaped at the front and I want the size reduced and the the nasal sides neatened up. I want a nose basically like JLOS and Kim's! LOL
When I take a selfie with my phone I see the front of my face that my nose looks wide, I have contoured it but it still doesn't make a massive difference! it is much better than it used to be!
I have done my research for years and if you have ethnic skin e. g Mediterranean, middle eastern skin. Thicker skin types will need two rhinoplasties so I have read and I believe this is true. My surgeon said thicker skin types take a longer time to heal and shape the nose by itself. Don't be put off by that, it took my nose to heal I think for 2 years maybe as my nose in some places was quite hard and I found drinking aloe vera flp drink really helped it speed up the process. My nose now is softer and I can touch it where it wasn't. If you want a more refined nose, and you do have thicker skin like me you will need another op.
xx
yes two depending if you are happy with the way you look with your first operation. I am not happy I will have to get a loan for mine.
I still can't decide if I'm happy with mine or not. Sometimes I miss my old nose. Regardless, I wouldn't do it twice. The recovery was easy but I'm afraid of doing too much to my face is not good. I would, however, like more lipo and fat injections. My fat injections all went down and my butt is back to being as flat as a pancake.
If you are happy with your nose then yes don't get it done. Not everybody needs a second one done. I think fillers in the face can make a younger face look older than they are.
The brazillian buttlift seems to be very popular, how about buttocks implants?
Please be careful with this. I've been told that especially with noses, since it's the center of our face, people can tend to never be satisfied or see it as right. I'm Mediterranean too and my swelling is still really bad now to me at one month post op but I have to be patient. A Kim k or jlo nose may not be right for your wonderful features :) my doc says you can't go overboard on nose surgery cause it damages the nasal structure and it gets less and less effective each time.
You said you did yours years ago, so the swelling I'm sure is gone. Just ask a good nose surgeon their advice before you proceed. I knew a girl who got hers done 3 times
A nose job isn't something that customers would usually notice, don't get it done if you want to do something to make more money. But if you're one of those people that's hated your nose since high school then get it done. It'll make you feel more confident. Basically, if you weren't a stripper would you still get it done?
