I say if you're just starting out to pick the platform that suits you the best and then go hard on it. I started out making money on myspace back in the day and the just moved on from there. Twitter is like my forever love but recently I've found Instagram to be a bit easier for new conversions. And it's been fun figuring out how the algorithm works.
Looking at your poll, Skype and texting isn't really a social media platform. They're tools that can be used to generate sales but Skype isn't something you can build a campaign around. It's where you perform. Unless you have regulars that you can reach out to for skype show's I wouldn't consider it as a place to build a brand. Pretty much the same goes for texting. It's something you offer through a platform like Kik.
Haven't delved into Snapchat. I don't think I will at this point. I do use Onlyfans however, and it's going very well. I'm really hopeful that it holds out, if not I'm gonna grab the money while it last.
I agree with what PhatGirlDynomite said, pick one to go for first and learn the lay of the land before trying to master all of them. If you do it all at once, at least for me personally, it can get overwhelming. I have to be more of a add one at a time, slow build kinda gal.
Personally, Snapchat has the most immediate and personal connection with my fans and what I make most of my money from (not just from premium snapchat but from converting them onto my cam site, fansites etc.) it's super easy because I can create a custom snapcode and they can scan it and go to my cam room or my manyvids or fansite straight from the app. Twitter is the second most because I can tweet with them and Instagram is the third. That being said, Instagram is actually my favorite :)
I use Twitter to interact and to promo/connect... it's not as useful anymore because they like to ghost adult accounts, so not sure other than my followers or having my things RT'd how much outside views I get anymore.
Snapchat I use to let them follow my day and build brand loyalty.
Instagram I use more mainstream and bring in brand ambassador type situations, get my name out there more. Instagram is also good because of the live stream feature- it's easy to use and disappears when you're done so it's a nice way to connect with fans on there, but it's really the only way to connect with them without delving into DM's.
Not sure if it helps, but for me, looking at stats is what helps me determine whether I want to invest my time in a new platform. I always try to go by what has the most views and engagement, Facebook of course is always the biggest platform to this day but snapchat is easily the second biggest social media platform.
Twitter: 310 million monthly active users
Instagram: 400 million monthly active users
Snapchat: 100 million DAILY active users
:)
out of twitter, Instagram, snapchat - snapchat has made me more money than others as far as cam shows and custom vid requests. Maybe because it seems more personal? Maybe because its the only social media I actually enjoy? lol I don't know. I think yes it's best to have all at some point but start with one and then add. You will find which one works best for you and which one you like the most. I don't like twitter thus have never made a twitter sale. Love snapchat and I get vid requests and people asking for my cam link all the time.
I selected snapchat in your poll but like PGD said Skype is more for actually doing the shows you get from the other places
Something I've come to realize about sales whether it's a clip sale: a membership, camshow, phone call or whatever; You may never know exactly where a sale is coming from. You can use trackable links but even then it won't show you the conversion. Especially if you're on a camsite that doesn't share that information with you. You can only speculate.
For example, I had a few shows this past week with guys that came from Twitter and Instagram. I've been going really hard on my Instagram and trying to interact as much as possible. But it wasn't until after I did the shows and checked my accounts later that I realized that the names on streamate were similar to the names liking my post for the past week. Only one of these guys revealed during a show that he checked me out on google and that was only after I realized he'd used a performer name that I rarely use. Some times they lurk on your social media and you don't even know that they're there. I found one of my skype customers on my Twitter last night. Had no idea he was following me.
you're so right about this. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of direct... like actually members from snapchat messaging me on snapchat itself asking what cam site I work or if ill do this or that type of video. never a single twitter message. but you're so right, you don't know who comes from where a lot of times.
