Feeling guilty when I take nights off
For some reason whenever I take a night off, especially a weekend (or really any night Wednesday through Saturday) I cant fully enjoy the night off because I feel bad for willingly missing out on money. The kicker is I dont really have any bils to pay right now (my rent money for the next 3 months is set aside) so I dont NEED to work, and when I do go in I tend to do quite well. But I still feel guilty.
The last two nights (Thurs and Friday) I went in and left with a grand both nights. I know if I go in tonight it will probably be another really good night. However i drank a lot at work yesterday and am tired/still hungover tonight and dont want or need to go in...but am sitting here feeling like I should suck it up and go in again anyway. I have difficulty telling the difference between when I'm being lazy and need to just do it versus when I'm over pushing myself and should rest.
Anyone else experience guilt when you take a busy night off?

I'm in Portland. I'm a top earner at my club though, and make sure only to work at clubs with champagne rooms that make $1K+ in a night possible

If I would make 1 k a night at the summer -I will feel guilty for sure!!! I hit 1 k not very rare and only in a good season. But I am in Texas and not the top earner.
Re: Feeling guilty when I take nights off
I have a super high alcohol tolerance and uber to and from work, so I tend to drink too much while there and then feel too hungover to work again the next day. Its an awful cycle I need to get out of. Fortunately Mondays have been good due to businessmen coming in, so if the same is true again in a couple days I won't regret saving my energy
Re: Feeling guilty when I take nights off
I feel guilty missing work sometimes but if I am really that exhausted and need to rest then I tell myself it's smarter to stay home and take care of myself so I have my energy up for the next shift I work. I would rather go to work feeling ready and energized so I can get the most out of the shift rather than going in all tired and hungover and half-assing it.
Drinking that much is not healthy anyway. So thats another reason why you shouldn't feel guilty for staying home. It's good to break that cycle and catch up on some sleep and hydration.
Re: Feeling guilty when I take nights off
I totally relate. I make great money each time I go to work, so whenever I skip it I feel terrible that I'm most certainly leaving 'money on the table'. I tend to drink at work too - I'm much better than I was, but even still, having a few drinks with customers over the course of the night adds up, so sometimes just need a break from the club and whatever pressures come along with it. Personality wise, I simply can't handle doing this full time, it's too taxing, even though I'd make great money.
Don't feel guilty. If it was as easy as snapping your fingers and walking in and making money, you'd never even want to take the night off. Truth is (for me) that uncertainty- the lack of guaranteed money, the 1 in 100 nights where you make no money and have wasted your time - makes it easier to justify skipping out on a shift.
Where I really feel guilty is if I skip working, but end up having a few drinks anyway , end up hungover without having made a dime!
