Have a full-time office job and don't want them to know, help?
Hello,
I'm working full time at an office job and I want to strip part-time but I'm worried if they find out they could fire me. Is that legal? I've read up about it and it seems like it depends on the company. My company is rather large and although I definitely don't know all of the employees, we see each other in passing everyday. I've chosen a club that's a bit out of the way to lessen this paranoia but I just don't want to worry so much about that while I'm at work. I really like my full-time job and I'd hate to jeopardize it.
Is anyone else working full time at a more vanilla job as well? Did you have this fear at all and how'd you get over it? Am I overreacting by thinking I'll run into someone from my company?
Any help or words of wisdom is greatly appreciated, thank you :)

I've never been in a situation that I had to worry but I think it's more likely you can not legally be fired for it. Unless you have agreed to some type of terms that you will conduct yourself a certain way they'd get in a huge legal battle. I don't know your office job but I'd say chances are they do not have anything like that.

You will eventually run into somebody that recognizes you from your full time job. What they choose to do with that info (tell co-workers, tell management, tell nobody) depends upon them. I guess use that truth to weigh your decision.

I think it matters only if you work in mental counseling, high level financial positions etc -then it creates a problem. For office position -really, who cares? You change your appearance in the club, you use your stage name, even if your co-worker is potentially in the club -you more likely will recognize him first and avoid. I've met many people in "real life" afterwards -they can't even recognize me. Another thing is -HOW they possibly can tell on you?! "Hey, I was drinking and going crazy in the strip club and run into N from our office?" They will put themselves in a bad situation as well.

thank you for the responses, i think overall i am being a bit over-paranoid about it. feeling better about going in now :)

I have a full time vanilla job (work in admissions at a college, so a lot of chance for potential students/current students to see me). I've been stripping for about a month and a half and haven't run into anyone from my office yet, but it's a small college. I did, however, see one of the high school guidance counselors from a local high school I work with. He recognized me and came up to see me on stage. We joked a bit about it and I said "Well, I guess you know my side job now!" And he said "Don't worry...the secret is safe with me! I get it!" So he was really cool about it.
I personally don't care about my vanilla job and am planning to quit soon anyways (I've hated it for a while and am making about 3x more stripping). So I'm not too worried about that. I definitely don't want my family to find out I'm stripping, but ultimately that's always a risk. Just gotta figure out if it's worth it to you :)
Honestly, I'm so happy I've taken the risk so far. I enjoy stripping way more than my regular job, earn more, can make my own schedule, etc. Just gotta be careful about who you tell and where you work and I think you'll be fine.

i'm not sure what you mean by moral clause? i checked the handbook and it says nothing about acting professionally outside of work hours or off of work premises, but during work hours, we are expected to dress/act professionally. however, it doesn't require a license and i don't work with anyone under 18.

Depending on what state you live in, you can be fired for ANY reason. That being said, just try and be viligent at work. Work at a club that's not too close to your job, and have your eyes on "scan mode" all the time while working. If you see someone you recognize, make a quick exit to the dressing room. If the co-worker approaches you, act dumb AF. Stripper me v. Work me look like 2 completely different ppl. This is probably true for most strippers.. You could probably just deny, deny, deny, and then quickly walk away.
