Dancing in an "urban" club if you're not black
Wasn't quite sure where to post this.
Friend has recommended an urban club, and I'd rather go somewhere recommended to try out rather than somewhere random. I'm mixed white and Puerto Rican - could I even get hired at a black club? Should I? Any experiences and advice greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I work at an urban club off & on and I'm white. I only usually work one weekend a month though. I'm thick in the thighs & booty so I do well with black customers. The snow bunny effect works well but depending on the customers can wear off. That's why I'm not in there every week.

I've worked at 2 urban clubs while travel dancing. One really hood, one really nice. The hood club I was the only white girl in the whole club, 2 girls cornered me demanding to know why I was in "their club," otherwise everything went well and I made good money. The higher end club everything went smoothly, I made good money and had no issues at all. I guess I would be considered "slim thick", very pale but people often think I'm mixed. I don't do shit on the pole but have booty tricks for days.
Could you get hired? That's up to the management. Don't know til you try.
I like the vibe and hustle of urban clubs but they're very physically demanding.

usually it's easy for white girls to get hired in black clubs, but I personally haven't even tried many of them because i would feel out of place. and yes, truthfully, i don't want my car keyed or get jumped by other dancers.

I think sometimes it depends on the area of the club not so much as being the only white girl in the club. Where I live now it's a generally mixed area and the club just happens to be a black club but if you walk outside the club you see white people everywhere. That's probably why I've never really had any issue. But if you live in an area that is more urban and you go out of your way to get there then maybe could be more of an issue. It's like "you drove 20 minutes all the way into our area to work". I've only had one issue being the only white girl in the club and it actually turned out to be a positive. One of the girls in the club didn't like me because I used to date a guy she was dating. So it was just an akward situation and she even brought it up how I screwed him over. Well..she had a totally different opinion after about a month of working around me and realizing that he was the one with the problems. We're still friends today and actually she works parties for me sometimes.
