So I am wanting to get out of dancing because
it is causing me to become really depressed. I decided I want to go school. I am merting a tax advisor Wednesday to get a loan tl go to school. i am going for massage therapy and reiki healing.
what should i put as a career? I still currently dance but im scared i am going to be discriminated against for my job. I want to stop dancing so bad but i have to continue doing so til i can finish school..
Re: What to put on application for school?
I am a single mom, and i barely make enough to take care of my two kids and pay my bills. I dont recieve a link card, wic or anything. The club I work at barely brings any customers its really hard to make money. Sometimes i leave with nothing. Sometimes i make 100-400$. it is not constant.
I want to apply for financial aid to go to school but im scared they will denie me to go to school because im a stripper.
I really need advice I feel lost.
Re: What to put on application for school?
Where do you want to go to school? There is a huge variety of schools, from Ivy League Universities to Community Colleges. A community college might be a place to start, as many cater to adult students with families.
Re: What to put on application for school?
Independent contractor.
Self employed.
Performance art.
Theatrical dance.
Unless somewhere it clearly says "STRIPPER" on a background check/taxes/whatever, you can be pretty vague and yet not lying, either.
Re: What to put on application for school?
Independent Contractor. Have you filed taxes? DO YOU HAVE money in the bank?
Re: What to put on application for school?
Study your ass off, retake college admissions test. Better score you get on it more GRANTS rather than loans available to you.
The thing with loans is that once you are out of school or stop going, you have to pay them back. Message Therapy, many of my friends went to school for it, can't think of any of them who actually ever doing it for a living. Many of them were strippers before hand & got loans.
Go job hunting as if you were one already to check out the lay of the land. Google how many make money at it? Going to a 2 year nursing program might be a better option.
Seen many of Message Schools go out of business, lose their gov. accreditation. YET all that loaned money has to be paid back & you will have to start all over again at another school. Dont know who is in your ear about this message school thing, but don't trust them.
There are plenty of free coding schools & classes online. Not medical coding, but like coding academy or coding wars.

Nursing school for LPN takes anywhere from 12 to 18 months & makes way more money than a Massage Therapist.
LPN's average $50,000 a year.
Re: What to put on application for school?
There is one way you can get paid money to go to school. Join the military. There are opportunities to get training in a number of technical and healthcare fields. You can also join the reserves or National Guard, and they will give you money for tuition if you want to go to a civilian school. If you join the reserves or National Guard, you can continue dancing, as long as you don't think there's any risk of getting arrested.

You don't say where you are. But, if you are in the U.S.A., there are three types of student loans:
-Direct Subsidized Loans are for students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by federal regulations. There is no interest charged while an undergraduate student is in school at least half-time, during deferment (a period when loan payments are temporarily postponed), or during grace (the period, usually six months after you graduate or leave school, before you begin to make principal and interest payments).
-Direct Unsubsidized Loans are federal student loans that aren’t based on financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow based on the cost of attendance and other financial aid you receive. Interest is charged during all periods and will be capitalized (when unpaid interest is added to a student loan’s current principal), even when you’re in school, during grace, and deferment periods. This increases your total federal loan cost.
-Direct PLUS Loans are unsubsidized credit-based federal loans for parents of dependent students and graduate/professional students. PLUS loans can help pay for education expenses up to the cost of attendance (the amount of money your school estimates you’ll need to attend there one year), after your other financial aid is exhausted. Interest is charged during all periods and will be capitalized. This increases your total federal loan cost.
Only the last, the PLUS loans are credit based. So they do a credit check. Otherwise, the Direct loans do not have a credit check.
I don't know why you are seeing a tax adviser if you are in the U.S. Accountants and Lawyers don't do GSL advice. You can do the FAFSA, which is the form for student loans, on line. Or, go see the financial aid office at your preferred college. They will have you fill out a form called a FAFSA, which is more complicated than a tax return, but it's how they figure out how much scholarship and loan money you will get.
Keep in mind that loans have to be repaid. So, don't borrow money for a trade or profession that won't pay you well. Never borrow money to learn something you like, only something that pays very well.
Honestly, if stripping isn't paying because of the club, change clubs.

What's cool about nursing is you can kind of do it in steps if that makes any sense?
So, if you start off doing a 4-6 week course you can become a CNA. While working as a CNA you can study to be an LPN. It also makes it easier for you to find a job because depending where you live/where you apply a lot of hospitals have stopped hiring LPNs, but there's always a need for CNAs. Then, once you've saved up enough and you have something sorta substantial to put down on your loan application, you can do an accelerated LPN to BSN.
But, at the same time, I have a friend who works at a pretty high-end nursing/retirement home as a CNA and she makes like $20 an hour or something wild like that so it very well could turn into something you do full-time. It all just depends on your area and the hospitals/facilities around you. (There are also other healthcare jobs too like phlebotomists and lab techs where you would basically just need some training and you're good to go.)
