...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I've never really been into makeup. I've been broke my whole life and it's always been a pretty useless item for me. And there's the fact that I've always had even skin and no real need for foundation and mascara. I've always put on red lipstick and been done.
But now, my red lipstick looks super cheap and my eyes always look tiny behind my glasses on cam. Does anyone have any tips on fixing this?
(Sorry if this is a bad post or anything.)

Join the Recessionistas Club! You can purcahse e.l.f makeup at target for a great deal. You are already ahead of the game with good skin so a bit of mascara, eyeliner and lipstick will go a long way. I am not a fan of red lips on cam. Try something peachy or pink that will go great on almost all skin tones.
I use Makeupforever HD Foundation and NARS Sheer Glow that are great on cam. A bit pricey but I am expensive!

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
Pinks tend to wash me out as a light skinned brunette. Reds are really the only things that work.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I'm Asian and red makes me look cheap.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I find that blush and bronzer work wonders! Try the ELF studio line blush it's $3 and comes in really good colors.
As far as your eyes I found that using false eyelashes looks amazing on cam, takes a bit of practice but worth it! Check for tutorials on YouTube and use a good glue, I recommend Duo brand.

See, I'm Latina and I'm light skinned, so I look really good in red. Specially when I get my bob redone. And I'll check out ELF.

Makeup addict checking in! If you're not really sure what kind of makeup works for you, maybe try going to Ulta, Sephora, or a beauty counter at the mall and have them give you some suggestions. Tell them you want some advice for stage makeup maybe?
I do basically really light stage makeup for cam and it looks much better on cam than my everyday makeup (but full stage makeup would be much too extreme I think!).
If you're willing to put in the effort, highlighting and contouring go a LONG way towards making your cam makeup look fantastic without looking like you're wearing a ton of makeup.

I don't know what that means.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
Okay, just pulled out all of my drugstore products for you. I'm a super-fair brunette too, think Snow White. I recently bought Milani brand lipstick in Uptown Mauve, really its a nice berry red. It's matte so any gloss sliked over it helps with a classic 'red' lip, and the berry tint of it helps with a little teeth whitening effect too. Depending on how much coverage you want for foundation, Rimmel 25 hour is a lot of coverage and will last through a long cam shift. If you have pretty good skin, or can't stand a make-up feel on your face, then Fit by Maybelline is nice, sheerish and lightweight.
For mascara I like Loreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes, stays on without smearing until you take it off. A cheap liquid eyeliner thats okay and run resistant is NYC liquid eyeliner. It makes a thin line which should be okay with glasses. Don't use that Kat Von D liquid eyeliner, horrible and runny. All these are available in the US and you can probably pull coupons from a Sunday paper to make them even more affordable.
I hope that helps- could talk about makeup all night!

If you don't like dramatic lips, but still want to make them stand out a bit, look for something within a couple shades of your natural lip color. I'm a big fan of lip stain, because it lasts so much longer.
There are very few universally flattering shades. Look up the best shades for your complexion. I'd advise you to try your 'look' out before you wear it on cam. I tried a dark smokey eye just once. I spent about 20 minutes trying to get it right, and I took it off after 5 minutes online. If you're not comfortable you won't feel sexy. That translates to customers more than you think.
Thank you very much.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
Sorry I wasn't clear! By stage makeup I mean the kind of makeup that is worn in plays, ballet performances, etc. It's basically very exaggerated makeup that helps your features be seen from far away. It involves a lot of contouring, which I've found really looks great on cam! There are tons of awesome how-to videos on youtube, but if you want some professional advice, plus advice on colors that work well on you, I definitely recommend visiting a makeup counter (or Sephora/Ulta if there's one nearby).
Hope that makes more sense...it's been a long night of camming and my brain isn't operating at full capacity! :D

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
i agree some of the elf stuff is decent they have a good hd powder revlon color stay has good foundation. If you don't really need full coverage you can mix it with moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer. Revlon colorstay eyeliner, revlon grow luscious lash eyeliner, and maybelline studio gel liner are the best drugstore eyeliners.
If you want to make your eyes look bigger have the line of your eyeliner get thicker as it goes outwards. In other words start thinner towards the inside of the eye and have the line thicken towards the outside. Also you can apply an extra coat of mascara to the outer lashes to make your eyes look bigger.
Edit: youtube has a ton of helpful info. checkout gossmakeupartist i've learned tons from him

Second the falsh lashes... Even if you're having a shitty makeup day, they can save it. One trick for applying falsh lashes: get a hand mirror and place it under your chin. Look down into the mirror, and apply your lashes along your lash line this way. It makes it easier to see what you're doing. I'll try to get a picture or quick video to show what I mean.. it's hard to explain in text.
You can also try using black liner on your upper lid, and only a bit of black on your lower lash line. Use white eyeliner on your waterline to make your eyes really pop. Neutral colors and smokey eyes look best on cam, I've found. Filling in and shaping your eyebrows can make all the difference, too. Here's an example of a good look, though it should be a bit more exaggerated than this for cam. Remember that your makeup won't show up as much on cam as you see it, so if you have uneven skin tone or blemishes, you may really have to cake the foundation on for it to show up on cam. Always err on the side of classic, but dramatic, for eye makeup. Unless you're going for a specific theme or doing costume makeup. Anyways, I'm rambling.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I third the recommendations for false lashes. As long as I have lashes, color on my cheeks and glossy lip gloss, I look like a million bucks. I buy my fake lashes in bulk on eBay and can get like 10 pairs for $5 from Asia. Let me know if you want to know the seller I go through. They are always quick and reliable.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
Put on enough makeup that you would be embarrassed to be seen in public in it. This will allow you to light yourself super well
it will "blow out" all imperfections and still look natural on cam
also stops you from procrastinating getting on cam by running errands....
Get a foundation that matches your skin, powder (very important)
a blush kit with a couple colors and a neutral pallet for eyes. Also eyeliner and mascara. I use liquid but I have been using it for 20 years and could put it on in the dark. Then go to YOUTUBE and watch tons of natural makeup tutorials only when you do them put it on heavier.
it will take you a while to figure out how to do makeup and you will probably move into advanced things like lashes and different colors.
On the lip color if you like red try a sheer glossy red instead of a solid red also a more brown than orange base.
What looks good in real life may not look good on cam or you may realize what you thought looked good did not (painful but happens to everyone!)
Good luck and have fun.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I used to spend a ton of money on makeup from places like sephora or mac.. but then I realized I use enough makeup for a rodeo clown for camming and started buying at walmart. The only thing I do splurge on is Bare Minerals. I use the Bisque and Mineral Veil from Bare Minerals. The Bisque is PERFECT for dark eye circles.. makes them disappear like magic and the Mineral Veil I use over cheap foundation... creates a perfect finish and takes away the shine. Both are a lil pricey but they last a long long time.... a lil goes a long way with both. Other than that I just use makeup I can get from a drugstore

Lol! This X 100! I never used to wear anything but eyeshadow and lipgloss, but since i started camming I am shocked by the amount of foundation and powder i go thru in just a couple weeks! And the mascara and lipgloss, its insane! I wish Sams Club would just start selling huge jumbo vats of that stuff so i could save some money on it! Just remember to save ALL your receipts so you can use it as deductions on your taxes ladies :-)

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
Great site for makeup reviews http://www.makeupalley.com Another reason to save your receipts is most places (CVS, Wal-mart) let you return opened makeup if it isn't right for you so you didn't waste your $$.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
skin79 BB cream and bare minerals, everything else i get at a drugstore. the elf bronzer is awesome, and i use the HIP loreal paris gel eyeliner. NYC lipstick and fake eyelashes, BAM im ready.

Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
I buy the thick black lashes in bulk from Walmart. The best thing to remember when applying them is give the glue a good 30 seconds or longer to become "tacky" before sticking them on. I was a dancer and in theater since I was young so I have gotten false eyelashes down to a science. I like to blast them a few seconds with the hair dryer, then blow on them a bit and bend them some. Tilt my head back and stick them on starting from the inside going out. I won't be seen on cam without them.
-
Re: ...Finding makeup that looks good on cam?
BB cream is good. It isn't thick like foundation & has many good things in it for your skin.
a bit of mascara
some blush or bronzer on cheeks
Apply lipstick, blot with tissue then apply gloss.
Since you wear glasses skip false eyelashes.
Cheap make up doesn't have to look cheap. Buy cheap & experiment. There are many tutorials on youtube. Try a few out.
It maybe your lighting & not your makeup. Try http://www.amazon.com/ePhoto-Photogr...=daylight+bulb

Makeup Suggestions For Cammodels & Clip Makers
Hey ladies, I usually do the whole 9 yards when it comes to putting on makeup before work. It usually takes me about 2 hours to beat my face for work. My dilemma is that I put all this time and effort into my makeup and my damn eyeshawdow doesn't even show up on cam. I have no issues making my eyesahshadow pop outside of camming. I use MAC eyesahdow...which in my opinion is almost top of the line makeup. How do you ladies get your makeup to pop online? I am black/dark skin if that helps. Is it my lighting? or camera settings? Thanks

Re: Putting on Makeup
Its most definitely a combination of lighting and settings. If your exposure is too high then then you may get a golden sheen that changes your coloring. It can get kinda weird. Also make sure you're using cool light bulbs. Day light bulbs are great. Anything with a yellow or warm tent could effect the outcome. Same goes for your background. Off white walls, tan walls can be a nightmare and make it very difficult to balance color.
