Ahh I've not heard of these products!! Thank you so much! And I suspected that may be the case...after 10 hours it's jus starting to slide off. My skin is dry but it still starts to look bad - especially if I'm tired.

setting spray is also a major savior, as is setting powder. use a combo of both and you are off to the races.

Anyone tried Polygel nails? If so, what was your experience?
With things as they are and all the nail salons closed for heaven only knows how long, I decided to take the plunge and buy a full set. I also purchased some regular glue on nails in case shit hits the fan and the polygel doesn't pan out.
Homygawd I bought some Iconic London Illuminator and used it for the first time today. It's amazing and totally worth the price!
Stock up alert!!
Shape Tape concealer is 50% off on their website for like 12 more hours!
Anyone have any recommendations for drugstore foundation? My order from Kat Von D is still processing
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid is my favorite. It melts right into my skin. They make different formulas for various skin types.

Update: I tried the Modelone version of polygel nails and unless you like them on the short side & redo your nails often, it's a waste of $ without also using tips and forming to those (verses using the provided duel forms that you fill and just stick on). I found the kit relatively thorough, especially if you like nail art or have never used gel polish before and need a light/polish (you do still have to buy something called slip solution or use rubbing alcohol though to use the kit). You definitely need to be precise and have an electric nail drill with multiple bits as well. On its own, Polygel is MUCH weaker than acrylic BUT it doesn't dry until it's cured under an UV or LED light, so you can work with the shape endlessly, add to it with ease, and clean up your cuticles all without fear of it drying on you. That being said, if you don't nail the application (no pun intended), the polygel chips, breaks, or starts peeling off within hours. Like 3 of mine either started peeling, chipped, or straight up broke within 12 hours (cured each nail for 2 minutes on top, and 30 seconds on the bottom so I don't think the cure was the issue for the polygel itself). once I got the hang of the application process, it was very easy and the shorter/thicker nails have stayed in place. also their gel polish is excellent quality, though I wish it came in better colors.
If you decide to give this a shot, I highly recommend watching a bunch of polygel youtube videos before trying it yourself, as the directions aren't nearly as thorough as they could be.
Because short nails are not my jam and due to the fact that they definitely need reinforcement if you want any kind of length beyond half an inch or so, I'm going to give it another shot with some tips and see how they hold up. I'm also going to buy another brand of polygel and see if that was part of the issue.
If you shop around a bit you can find some legit sites that sell pro quality stuff if you pinky swear you are pro.
I haven't taken the full plunge into redoing my nails because I feel they deserve this break, my beds are rough. But I have been doing my own gels and taking all the vitamins. I will probably break down and do some acrylics or gel forms in like 3 weeks.
I am also finding that I have become quite a pro at false lashes but so desperate for extensions. But a lot of companies have really upped their quality all of a sudden. Like a lot of companies during this time to fulfill a need. If you ever wanted to try dyi this is the time.
Omg so, I discovered this brand, called Revolution Makeup.
Ok, I have been hearing about them for a while, but now I saw a pallete at a good price, a dupe of a much more expensive pallete and I decided to give it a try.
All I can tell is: I am SHOCKED! The colors are sooo pigmented, the price is a fucking steal, just paid like $15 for a pallete with 36 eyeshadows. Basically I bought 2 palletes?!?
Oh, this is the pallete: https://www.revolutionbeauty.com/us/...tte/20803.html
This is the swatch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7WtAR_ZUKQ
And I also got an eye serum, with 5% caffeine. This one: https://www.revolutionbeauty.com/us/...m/1103817.html
Been using it already and it didn't cause me any breaks, it doesn't sting the eyes, it goes well into the skin and it has no perfume. I am gonna try their masks and serums, they have tons and the prices are a fucking steal!!!!
I am gonna shop the shit out of this brand, man!!!
Out of curiosity, why do you avoid their lipsticks?
I rarely use it, but I'm trying to perfect a decent lipstick look both for cam and off. it has been an undertaking. I tend to stick with stains because they don't smudge or smear as easily and I do a lot of BJ shows.
god every bj show I have to redo my chin foundation, it's annoying but anything I have tried that doesn't do the transfer just feels like it is suffocating my lips! The new huda lip products works fairly well but I apply with my finger so it's more of a stain. Oh and Charlotte tilbury lip products tend not to smear horribly.
*bump*
So on my quest for nice long nails (even with all the salons here closed probably through july or August), I decided to throw down with some different polygel than before. My nails weren't lasting & i was super discouraged, but I'd already invested in nail lights, polishes, drills, and basically a while kit of other odds and ends. Started watching a bunch of videos from "LongHairPrettyNails" and realized that the modelone polygel I had received must have been a really bad batch because they were basically jelly and broke or ripped off constantly. tbh, for all the time, effort, and precision it took to prep, fill, shape, cure, and paint the damn nails just to have them break in a day or two, their polygel made me feel utterly defeated. After watching some of LHPN's other polygel videos, I decided to give it one last spin, as her nails come out gorgeous, long, and most importantly sturdy. Purchased some Gershion brand polygel in the color clear and HOLY EFFING HECK it was like opening a whole new world of possibilities!!! It's harder than acrylic nails and yet lighter! I haven't had to reinforce them with any kind of tip & can just use duel forms to put them on. the best part, they actually cure! I've had my current set on for 2 weeks without breaking a single nail or peeling up and even did a halfway decent job filling them. With a bit of practice, I can actually see myself not having to rely on a nail salon at all (and seeing as I was spending well over 1.5k per year on acrylics and pedicures, that would be a lot of saved $$$).
I do have a question: Can anyone recommend some gel polishes that aren't crazy expensive? I'd like to expand my collection but don't really want to drop $100 on like 10 polishes
sorry I didnt see this!
I wouldnt say I avoid them - I just buy more expensive ones usually - lipsticks are the only thing I spend a lot on makeup wise lol
I do have a dark purple revolution one and it's fine especially for cam - but it does peel and come off after a while. I like liquid lipsticks that are matte so Im uber fussy
I love revolution. Got the nude palette today as a freebie from the local drugstore here. Swatched it and it has great color payoff. Excited to try it out tomorrow. I use a lot of makeup on cam so I prefer to use budget makeup for cam. I tend to reserve my higher end make up for my time off :P
I love doing makeup! Got a few tips also:
- For cam, its better to go a little darker than lighter on your foundation shades. When I use my 'normal' color, I tend to look pale. When I use a more tanned color, it looks better on cam.
- You can't find a good foundation tone? If you are pale and feel like even the lightest color is ' too dark ' for you, you are probably using the wrong undertone. Try using a different undertone. There are three. Yellow, Rose and Neutral. Very few of us are neutral: most people are more pink or more olive. This goes for darker skin tones as well!
- On cam I go heavy with contouring and highlighting. You can put A LOT on before you look like a clown. Especially when you use a lot of lights.
- Same goes for overlining your lips. And eyeliner :)
Found the perfect lockdown lashes solution - lolas magnetic lashes! You can get them in uk but theres probably a good alt in usa. Just bought my 2nd set (diamond) and love them.
For gel nails i haven't found a brand that beats bluesky. I bought a set with a lamp on amazon acouple of years ago and it's been a lifesaver though this lockdown.
I went back to using my st tropez self tan and herbatint hair dye as well and it's honestly not bad. I might stick with all this and save myself a bunch of money. The only thing I'm really missing is botox!
Pat has Golden Opulence marked down to $39 plus 10% off if it's your first order. That's a deal!

My magnetic lashes showed up this weekend and effing love them! Lash glue breaks me out so bad that I stopped wearing lashes. Not anymore. ♥️
