Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
I have never danced before, but after seriously thinking about it for a few months and reading this website, I am ready to give it a try and I hope to get hired somewhere next week when I am back in New York, since I'm out of town this week.
Lookswise, I think I could do well in Manhattan - I am slim, toned and well proportioned, blue eyes, light brown hair. I briefly spoke last week to a manager at flashdancers but they were having a Christmas party and he had no time to talk. At first he told me they had enough dancers, then he kind of looked me over and told me to come back in a few days, which I took to be kind of encouraging in terms of whether I'd have the right "look" for the place, especially since my timing couldn't have been worse. I didn't go back because I had to work all day the day he said to come. But then I got to thinking- everything I have read on here is that Flashdancers is more of a "pro" type place and as a beginning dancer, I don't want to be immediately outclassed by more experienced girls (if I did get hired at all).
So where can I go in the city (where you don't need to do extras to make decent money) that is likely to accept a brand new dancer? Another thing: I have a child, so I need to work night shift when he is asleep and alternate childcare schedules with his father who has a 9-5 office job. But I know night shift is a little harder to come by. Where should I audition?
Sorry if my question is redundant. I know NYC clubs get discussed a lot on here, but some of the threads are a few years old and the info might be dated.
if anyone can help me out, thanks in advance.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Don't tell them you never danced before. NYC is a pro shark tank in and of itself even at the bad clubs so just dive right in. Go back to Flash anytime after 7 (since you want nightshift). If anything they will send you to one of their sister clubs. Good luck.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Thanks for that tip- I'll definitely say I have danced before if they ask, or at least not tell them I haven't . My plan of attack as of now is to try the Flashdancers chain, Hustler Club and Scores.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
So I got rejected from Flash, Hustler and Scores. Ugh...
When I say newbie, I mean I've never even visited a SC before (had no reason to I guess). My original plan had been to go with a male friend and check the places out, but could never find a time when we both were off work (I'm currently a bartender and already work late). So I figured I'd jump the gun and just waltz in.
Huge mistake.
I didn't even dress right at all. It was obvious to all I'm sure, that I've never done it before. At Flashdancers and Scores I had to actually dance topless. I'm proud of myself that I was even able to do that for the first time ever calmly. I may not have looked great doing it, but I did it and I'm proud of myself for that at least.
At Hustler, I didn't have to dance but the house mom looked me over in a g-string and heels and then told me to put my name and number on a waiting list. She claimed she didn't have enough work for the girls already there. I'm not sure if that was a polite way of rejecting me or if it was true. The club only had one customer in it and several girls sitting around, so it's possible that it's true that they just don't need more girls. But she did have me write my number down. So again, not sure if that was a polite rejection or if they really do call girls if they have openings.
My plan is to regroup, buy the right outfits (duh) and maybe try some places in Westchester that is newbie friendly because Im pretty sure faking it til you make it isn't gonna work for this.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
I'm sorry. There are plenty of clubs in the city. Get the right outfit ( a gown or short dress or both) and keep trying. Good luck.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Thanks. Yeah it sucks but it's almost humorous how off base I was on the outfit. Like, anyone would've known I had no clue what I was doing. I should've took the clue after Flashdancers that I just wasn't prepared. But I'm nothing if not determined so I went to the other 2. At first, I was hard on myself and thought it was my boobs or something. (I saw some great tits at flash haha). But in the light of day I really don't think it's me, just that I was so clueless, so I kinda laughed about it today.
Manhattan is such tough shit. I know just from working in bars there that you have to be perfect and polished from the get. No time for someone just learning. And that's what sucks when you wanna try something new.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
So if anyone knows of Yonkers or Westchester clubs where I can just be straight up and tell them Ive never done this in my life so they don't expect perfection, please let me know. Better to be honest and realistic. And maybe I'll try the city in a couple weeks or months.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Lace,New York dolls or privet eye are good for starters in my opinion

Also, if they know you've never had the experience of working in clubs, they may look at you as prey. Keep in mind that some of the management teams are not always the kindest of people. You don't have to be perfect right off the bat, and your act will come together as time goes on. Keep going after what you want and you will find the perfect spot for yourself. Good luck to you. :)

Thanks that's good advice. I just want to be up front since I crashed and burned so bad but I do see your point.

Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
That’s ok. You can get a stripper gown on yandy.com, empire exotica in the city , or kamala gowns online.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Thanks for the replies, especially Ariel. You’re super helpful! I’ve been continuing to search.
I ordered outfits online. I got the shoes but am waiting on a gown. I went to both Lace
Clubs and was told that the season is just too slow right now, which I know is true. Some girls
Said the same. The manager at Lace told me to try Sapphire and Penthouse, so I may do that.
He said things pick up around springtime. I guess I’m just losing my mind because I make hardly anything g
Waitressing/ bartending and I am separating from my husband to boot. Just getting so depressed and stressed but
I guess I need to keep the faith.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Try more clubs. We have over 13 in Manhattan alone.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Have you considered trying clubs in North Jerz?
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Hey guys ! Sorry I didn’t update - it has been crazy busy. I actually did get hired in Manhattan last week and I did one night in the club. House fee was 50 (first night) and I made 75. Ugh. It was a super slow night and the hours just dragged. I am scared to go back and pay the usual house fee (150 or so) because I don’t know if I will make it and don’t want to lose even more money (shoes, clothes and wig were already purchases totaling hundreds). So I’m not sure what to do. On one hand, I totally see where I made my sales mistakes. I was way too honest and “myself” and obviously guys are coming to be entertained. I can do that, just need to be in the right mindset. Also it was Wednesday night - so probably only had a handful of customers all night.
Obviously I’d do better on a busy night, but the money is clearly in room sales, and I can barely sell a lap dance. I might go back this week, in fact I probably will, but there’s definitely a learning curve to do this job. Not that I didn’t think there was, but I just didn’t expect to do that poorly. Thanks for asking, girls.
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
PM ME the club if you don’t want to say it in here. I may be able to give you advice.

Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Where in north Jersey would you suggest? I want to try clubs out of manhattan right now and I'm new to the whole scene. I was hoping to try some clubs in Yonkers/Westchester but I'm not sure which ones are good for new dancers and clean ones at that (extras not expected and management is at least protective).
thanks!
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
I would like to know about outside of Nyc clubs as well
Re: Manhattan clubs for newbies?!
Try Rosewood Theater if you’re still not happy in regular strip club scene, Die Happy Tonight changed my life!❤️
