Regarding an LLC
Cross my fingers, I'd like to be in this business a few more years, either as a dancer and/or escort. Save more money at the same rate I was making it whenever I was working outside of LA (but when still living there).
Being out of LA and in a better market where I feel like I can make a more respectable wage than before, a wage that is more consistent and reliable than what I was making in LA, I hope to set up an LLC.
Via another sex worker site, I was referred to a lawyer in LA who specializes in entertainment and would set up an llc for me. I've spoken to an accountant about this as well. From what I gather from the two consultations is that, my state choices are Delaware and Wyoming as being the best, with a few other options. What I'd like to know is whether hiring a lawyer to set up an llc that I use for my 'entertainment business' necessary. The cost is 1250. Or is it a pretty straight-forward process that I can do on my own? I don't know the relationship between this lawyer and the woman who recommended me to him, so not sure if paying this much money is a wise decision.

Re: Regarding an LLC
Unless you hire some people to engage in hazardous activity you probably don't need one; if you just like paying filing fees, making annual reports and putting up with a bunch of bureaucratic nonsense, you can do it yourself. The complicated part of setting up a business entity is providing protection for minority shareholders/owners/partners etc.
Here is some stuff about how we go about it
