have you tried using a different encoder settings. Calling your ISP won't help much because they only focus on your location is getting the service you require. Cable internet tends to be slower then DSL internet. even tho they are offering similiar internet speed. the technology of it just makes them different in speed delivery.
That was a drastic change I noticed when I switched back to DSL.
Call an ISP is pretty gonna tell you to run a speed test, then reset your modem plug it out and wait 5 seconds plug it back in. At most if you call them and ask them you want to make sure you speed is being delivered properly.
^ yeah they came out and all they did was reset the router to factory settings....
funny you mention dsl because i was just thinking when i had it i never had 1 disconnection or had to call them for a thing. with cable internet i have issues every other month
ugh this is so weird...i tried on another pc and it doesn't say its dropping bitrate but it has a delay of like 3 minutes and is just a choppy mess.
so
1. i know its not the encoder because i have issues in obs broadcaster also (also i played with the bitrate and /auto adjust/drop frames stuff)
2. its not my computer - i tried a mac and a windows
3. my internet speeds are looking ok and there was no obvious problems my isp saw when they came out to test/reset everything...
i have no idea what to do. im praying someone comes along and reads this and has an idea how to fix this...
im probably going to call a different company (dsl) and switch if i cant get this figured out by the end of the day
edit: whats weird is all my stuff on streamates ranking page is showing up excellent still (bitrate, roundtrip time) im not sure if this updates instantly? or its an average over time?
Basically you handle all the things you can control on your end. upgraded computer to handle streaming, and then your internet speed. That your "you can control point" If you've done your best on this point this is all you can focus on.
If it still not working on right and your end is fine, its the sites end. This is where I log off and work another website, or add content for my business. The internet changing where everything is streaming live video is putting more strain on internet services.
We've reached a level where everyone is fighting for space on the internet to stream live video.
Then its the "you can't control point" streamate, and other websites that are using OBS for streaming connectivity. The amount of tech glitches for streaming sites is all over, it's on webcam sites , its on social media sites, its on gaming sites like twitch.
It's basically getting computers to talk to computers to stream a lot of information all at the same time.
Basically if you reach your limit on what you can control, then you just need to log off for a bit and see if it changes later.
its been 24 hours with the same issue so i dont think it will just go away....
i tried a different webcam to see if that was the problem also and nope.
it also isnt the site because i tried anotherand same thing.
im going to uninstall the encoder and see if that resets something somehow..but thats really the only other thing i can think of....besides switching my isp lol
whoaaaa i just found out i can get 1000mbps download AND upload internet for like half of what i have been paying for 50mbps .... at least if this doesnt fix the issue i didnt switch for no reason
Did the service guy try another router? What exactly did he do to troubleshoot?
no, he just updated it and reset it....i didn't bother trying to explain more because i didn't know how to without going into details.
it's going to be a week before the other isp can set up new services so im probably gonna have them come out again and just ask them to switch equipment.
does anyone know anything vanilla that will show bitrate or something dropping? so i can maybe show while they are here
I should've said modem not router. But anyways do you know how he reset the modem.... like did he call into the company and ask customer service to reset it or did he just press the button on the back of the modem?
If you're close to a Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc you can pick up a modem from there. You don't have to use the modem that ISP's give you. By buying another modem even if its temproary it allows you to troubleshoot to see if its their modem that's giving you issues or if its the line that they installed/their service. If the new modem works better you can just use it until the other ISP installs their service.
Camming is basically the same as Twitch, Youtube live, Periscope, etc ...the only difference is the sex aspect. You can setup a dummy account to one of those sites and just tell the service guy that you do live broadcast as a gamer, youtuber, podcaster or whatever and say that when you stream the birate drops which messes up your stream. If you are going to show them the actually issue I would setup a separate user account on your computer so that when you show them the issue they won't be able to see any icons, sites, bookmarks, etc on your computer.
^ yeah i think he just reset it with the button on the back, i called again and they said they reset it again but nothing has changed...
thank u soooo much though i never would of thought to try another modem.
i'm going to do that now...
so if my modem has the same issue would that mean they need to repair the line? or could there be anything else causing it?
and i didn't know those services used the same encoders till now. it will be verrry easy to show them if i need to (although they will probably think im a little weird for NEEDING to be able to stream my video game playing ASAP lmao)
Originally I was going to say that the issues was on Streamate's end because I and a few other had birate dropping issues that were not faul of our own since SM was the common denominator. Since you said you tried other camming sites and had connection issues with those sites it doesn't seem to be SM that's causing the issue. You also tried different broadcasters and computers so its not an issue with your software or computer. If you try a new modem and you still have issues I'd say its either the cable line or the service that's causing the issue because you've pretty much troubleshooted everything else.
Most sites that do live streaming whether its sex or pure vanilla use the same type of system to stream aka Flash Media Server aka FMS url and Stream keys. Because software's like Adobe Live Media Encoder, OBS, Wirecast, Xsplit use Flash Media Server to stream these software can be used with any live streaming site that uses Flash Media Server.
I doubt that they'll think you're werid. I had an ISP guy come into my cam studio to install internet. In there I had photography lights, monitors, a few camera's, etc all setup. I wasn't about to take down a setup that took hours to do just because a stranger was coming in for an hour or 2 to setup a simple little cable and a box. I just made sure everything was off and that nothing sex-related was in view. He asked if I did photography I lied a little and said "I do a little bit of everything photography, gaming..you know all that type of stuff". He goes oh really and asked what games I was into...I had to think of the games my niece plays because I am not into gaming at all.... he then told me what game he just got and the games his kids play.....lmao. Everyone pretty much knows about gaming and Youtube content creators so saying that you need a stable connection to live streaming games isn't all that weird.
thanks....i havent got a new modem yet
but i thiiiiink i figured out that its a bandwidth issue tho. sm support gave me a test to do and it seemed like mine was super low. i thought bandwidth had to do with multiple devices being used on wifi tho? or could a messed up modem be causing bandwidth issues?
In this case I would vote that it's the modem and a firmware update is needed possibly. But since it's the one provided by the cable company and the tech didn't really want to help, you may want to get your own. I can't tell you how many internet techs I've had dustups with because they assumed or didn't want to admit that I knew what I was talking about. One of them I had to take his laptop and complete the diagnostic myself, because he swore there wasn't anything wrong with my modem. It's better to have your own. BUT once you do that they are even less likely to help you when it comes to troubleshooting if you have issues in the future.
lol yes i hate when they treat u like ur clueless...like the one "Taught me" how to reset the router. it really never crossed my mind to use my own router, i totally don't mind troubleshooting by myself...especially because my company has often had me wait a few days for an appointment, only to not fix anything...and then have to wait more.
thanks and wow i had no idea they made that much- i just googled out of curiosity and found this about camgirls who also stream on twitch : https://kotaku.com/the-cam-girls-who...tch-1801994292
I might have missed it skimming through the thread, but are you wired or wifi?
Like the other option is to go with www.nerdsonsite.com if they are available to you. You only pay them for the job they are solving once they know what it is.
You could definitely get more answers on how to make sure your network is running the way it should. Had one come in didn't charge me but was able to tell me why my computer kept blowing out its power. that I was using for a voyeur camera live house.
This year I am going to invest my time in taking the computer repair course at the community college. its about $1,500 but with how things are going with streaming and wanting to learn to build a computer. it actually seems worth taking it.
Just trying to help you troubleshoot, but have you tried messing with the color/brightness/gain/exposure on your cam and or lighting? I had this problem a couple weeks ago with my fps and bitrate dropping and it was because my cam wasn't bright enough. I had set the gain and exposure too low and it was wreaking havoc on my stream.
