Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I am very interested in both but not sure which to get done? I'm tired of applying fake lashes when I go out..and want to spend less time on makeup. Has anyone had a lash lift with tint before and is it worth it? Or are lash extensions better? But I heard it with extentions it can get expensive cuz of the upkeep...
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I've had eyelash extensions for a few years now and they have served me well but you must be VERY selective about who you go to, and don't be afraid to ask for credentials. There are lots of unscrupulous places doing business out there. Go to a place that specializes in eyelash extensions and nothing else. Don't go to a nail salon, a hair salon, a random spa, etc. Eyelash extensions are safe when done correctly but unfortunately there are lots of jacks-of-all-trades out there looking to make a quick buck.
Ask them to burn the eyelash in front of you - if it's genuine mink, it will burn completely and smell like burnt human hair. If it's plastic (which is meant for training purposes, never to be used on a human but often places will use plastic lashes anyway), it will turn into a shiny black glob. If they refuse to do this in front of you, walk out of there.
Stay away from any place that promises your lashes will last for a month - eyelash extensions shed along with the cycle of your natural lashes, and you will need to refill them every 2-3 weeks unless the glue they're using has scary preservatives (like formaldehyde, an embalming agent ...yup, that's a chemical in some of the cheaper lash glues).
Do lots of research and look at pictures of their work before scheduling an appointment.
I love my eyelash extensions. They make me look like a doe-eyed Bambi 24/7, I no longer have to use mascara or falsies, and they're pretty easy to manage, but I can't stress the importance of going to a reputable place. Lash damage can be permanent so you really don't want to play with them.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I got eyelash extensions & it ruined & depleted a very nice ones I had before.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
Lift for sure, but it depends on the artist doing it
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I love extensions but I cant maintain the upkeep. No matter what by week two they look like shit and I dont have time to go for a fill every two damn weeks.
A lift for day to day and strips for work are the best fit for me.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
Shiiit, 2 weeks?? That's the thing with acrylics or fake lashes, I mean two weeks?? And for a good fill it's pricey. And when I got mine, it caused considerable damage..AND I had to not get them wet or apply any mascara..which is ok if you don't wear makeup anyways and want a more natural look for low-maintenance lifestyle.
But damn, why not just do fakes on the nights you wanna look more doe-eyed? I feel like it would be worth the considerable volume and cost/time-effective application.
If you wanna do a lift it works the best if your natural lashes are long and just kinda droop or hang straight . My opinion
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
My strongest thing rn is looking into waterproof mascaras..all that other shit is just a big NO
Too expensive & last year what I went through w/my hair & scalp was enough, let alone risking my eyes
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I definitely don't think that a lift and tint is going to be a substitute for fake lashes, I'm honestly not sure why people even bother with tinting because it looks like just like you put mascara on----and mascara is so much cheaper and more convenient(and can also give better results IMO).
I get lash extensions; like others said you have to be really careful about who you go to, it is expensive and you will probably need to go every 2 weeks. Also: how your lash extensions will look depends a lot on what your natural lashes look like; if you naturally have thin, short lashes they're not going to be able to give you full, luscious ones(unless you go to a bad technician who is willing to use tons of super long lashes or cluster lashes that your natural ones can't support, which will make your real lashes fall out). To tell you the truth whenever I see girls who have naturally very sparse, short lashes get extensions I wonder why they even bothered too because the difference is so minor that I don't think it's worth the hassle.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
^^ I get the tint because I do a ton of bukkake and that sperm removes all the mascara in a horrible mess which i sort of hate dealing with Plus it all then sticks to my contacts lenses but with a tint I dont have to wear it and just the liner runs, which I keep on the bottom lashes only. But yeah I only get it done if I know Im doing a bukkake shoot cause otherwise its a major hassle and extra expense.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
Hi girlies,
Well I have been using the nanolash growth serum and my lashes are mega long.
And I have just had lvl lift and they look fab it looks like i have mascara on so pleased
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I like my lash extensions a lot. My lashes are naturally pretty long. But, these are a lot longer and dramatic :) Therefore, I cant say I'm too conserned w/ the after effects.....
I went to get a fill and my lash tech was AMAZED at how well they held up (shit, I was too!!).
The first 2 days, I wore goggles in the shower.
After 3 weeks, my lashes were still looking damn good! I honestly could have gone another week... And I really think it's because I made SURE not a drop of water hit my lashes the first 2 days. Only reason I got a fill was cause she does facials too So I do both :p
Let's see how it goes this time. I filled them w/ a hybrid set, but I actually think I prefer classic :)
Now, false/strip lashes look BEAUTIFUL. IMO, I think they look even better then extensions. but a) I can't put them on for SHIT b) I like WAKING up and having long lashes. I mean no matter where I go, I'm lookin like a doll w/ NO effort. Thats enough to keep me wearing eyelash extensions :)
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I *love* *love* the look of lashes..it's amazing however glue really close to my eyes makes me feel sketched out and the upkeep like others have said racks up. Sometimes my eyes would get itchy though and after you cry they kind of look funny and if you sleep on one side mostly they will also look off fast :( I did a lift and tint once and had a horrible reaction and the lady was a hassle to get any kind of money back, so will never do it again!!
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I don't even know what a lift is, but personally, I won't be getting shit that rips out my lashes, no ty!
I was in line @ Ulta talking to a girl about this, she said it way F'd up her natural lashes.
But, good luck to y'all if you choose this
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I freaking loved the effects of extensions when I had them. But it’s a pain in the butt to keep going back to refill the lashes.
Now it’s lifts+Latisse (a prescription to lengthen lashes) I even lift them myself using a kit you can buy on amazon for $35. I’ll have to look into self tinting as well since I’m now confident enough in perming my own lashes without harming myself.

She said the lift f'd them up? Do you know how? I'm interested in having a lift (I like the before/afters I've seen on the wall at a salon I've been to for for another treatment) but don't know too much about it. I thought it seemed less hassle and lower risk than extensions for some reason.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
I've gotten eyelash extensions here before, but I think they are actually just fake eyelashes, not genuine extensions. It only took around 20 minutes for them to put them on, and they only cost $35 ($42 including 20% tip). Also, they had me leave my eyes open the whole time, which felt awkward and uncomfortable. Before going, I had just assumed that you keep your eyes closed for most of the application. After around 2 weeks, mine started to fall off, even though I didn't shower, tan, or get water or heat anywhere near my eyelashes for the first 2 days.
This is where I got mine done: http://www.exquisitethreading.com/services/brows.aspx
I loved the way they looked though!
They take a bit of getting used to. I tried my hardest not to itch or rub my eyes or get my lashes wet. Sleeping was the hardest part for me at first-I sleep on my stomach and side a lot and I adjusted to sleeping on my back instead.
I'm not getting them done this summer at all because I love going swimming and laying out tanning, and both are bad for fake lashes/eyelash extensions. I plan to get them done again in the fall though.
I personally could not justify paying $100 and up though, unless they lasted for considerably longer than mine lasted.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
Lash lift looks natural as compared to eyelash extension.

No.She said extensions pulled out a lot of her lashes.
Me personally, I will go with mascara.
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
Hi I’m licensed in cosmetology and I do lash extensions and lifts.
Lash extensions will not damage your lashes or cause them to fall out any faster than nature intends UNLESS
You pick at them and pull them out yourself
You go to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing—the easiest way to tell is when you have a lash extension come off that has a natural lash attached to it—if a lash tech is not isolating the lash during application or not letting the glue dry long enough while isolating, you will see that there may be more than one natural lash attached to an extension that has shed. If a tech gets more than one natural lash on an extension, one may grow out faster than the other, putting tension on the one growing slower, causing the slower growing lash to be pulled out prematurely because it’s glued to the faster growing one. If you see more than one natural lash when you shed, don’t go to that person (once in a while it’s ok but you get the idea).
If your lashes are painful or tender to the touch your person doesn’t know what they are doing.
If you are really being hurt by the glue the tech is using, ask them what they use. Text them and ask them, don’t wait until your next appointment. Google the glue they tell you they use—if you can find it online and can buy it without having a cosmetology license, that’s shitty glue and no wonder it’s hurting you—don’t go to that person anymore. If it’s a professional glue and you find you must be licensed to buy, tell your tech it’s really hurting you and ask if they have a different glue they can try—most of us try different products and so she probably does have other glues, you may be sensitive to one.
You can also have pain if your eye isn’t all the way closed during application and your tech may be taping it open just slightly but you need to tell her if it’s burning while she’s doing the application or she won’t know—may be as simple as adjusting the tape or gel pad.
Also to Ladycaxe, I love your comments, you have good energy and sense of humor. <3 your lash glue should cure in a few hours so you don’t need to wear goggles in the shower, what you can do is try to not put your face in it as much when you shower, like even when I wash my hair I try to not get my eyes in the water a ton every time. What will help you though is don’t work out or do anything that makes you super sweaty the first 12 hours after application, don’t take a steamy body washing only shower or bath for 8-12 hours after, and don’t take a hair washing shower or face wash with water on your eyes until the next day (12 hours .+). Also try not to use a makeup remover for 24 hours. Going swimming every now and then can be just fine, I’ve vacationed many times with lashes and they did just great. Swimming everyday, I’m actually about to try that out so we’ll see how it goes lol.
Lash lifts and tints are mostly for “regular girls” in my opinion, and saying this only for people who had commented questions about them or said they never tried. There are some people who have more density to their natural lashes, as in, they have thicker/more lash hairs than other people, so a lash lift would be awesome for some of us who have lashes like that. For most strippers, unless you have a very natural look a lift will be very subtle and won’t make a difference and you’ll have to wear strip lashes anyway.
My best advice for finding an eyelash extension tech is to go on IG and search things like —let’s say you live in Vegas— lasvegaslashextensions or vegaslashes etc. you can see the kind of work they do in their posts and pick someone who does looks like you want, and also see their prices too.
I get my lashes done every three weeks so for people saying you have to get them done all the time, really it should be once a month if you are going to someone who knows what they are doing and not picking and pulling your lashes out.
Lash extensions won’t damage your lashes unless you are going to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing, I’ve had them for almost 10 years so extend with confidence.
Hope this is helpful :)
Re: Eyelash extensions or lash lift?
So I totally ripped out my lashes when I used some strips and took them off. I used Dermalmd EYelash Growth Serum for just a few days and noticed not only the hair I ripped out growing, but hair I never even had before growing. I got this because I didn't want to dish out so much money for the "leading product". I use it once a day in the morning. So far I'm impressed.

As someone who has experienced it, I definitely say lifting
