U.S. Cellar Clubs "Hostess/Cocktail Server" Job - Scam or Legit?
Hi,
I wasn't 100% sure which section this should go under, but I figured someone on here might be able to provide a little insight.
I ran across a job listing on craigslist for a Hostess/Cocktail Server job with U.S. Cellar Clubs that pays $22/hr, no tipping allowed. The ad instructs to call a number to hear a recording about the job. That number directs you to call another number to actually hear the recording. The first number is a Compton, CA number, and the second is an Iowa number.
The recording describes the job as essentially scantily-clad cocktail servers / hostesses that flirt and tease exclusive wine club members prior to them going in for a "tease massage". The hostess/cocktail server position has a max of 20 hours per week, but also offers a $450/month cash clothing allowance, and the girls can work as both hostesses and "massagers". The "massagers" make $75/hr and do not get a clothing allowance. The recording also stresses the importance of conducting the initial phone interview alone with no distractions, and warns girls with significant others that they might not want to take a job like this. They stressed the importance of security and confidentiality, and stated that all the girls sign NDAs.
I'm not looking for specific info that would violate the NDA, but I want to find out if this is legit.
It seems sketchy as hell to me, and seems like a brothel or at the very least toes the line. Worst case scenario, it could be a front for human trafficking, which is actually a pretty big problem where I live.
I wasn't able to find any information about the company or its hiring manager on the internet. The wesbite attached to an email address provided in the ad is a dead end and google searches for the exact company name pretty much come up empty.
Thoughts?
Thanks

I've never heard of them. From what you said that sounds fishy. Why would a legit company need to hide behind two different numbers? In most states in the U.S. it is illegal to offer massage without a license. Even calling it a massage when you're not licensed can get you into legal trouble(ie. A misdemeanor prostitution charge on your record). Google searches come up empty because this company is a front for something. Think about it. If it were a real, legit company why wouldn't they have verifiable info? Manta and BBB often have business profile info. It's shady that this company has nothing and the NDA? Yeah, that's sketchy as well. Stay away from shady companies like that. It could be a front for human trafficking. It could be some amateur dude or whoever trying to lure and trick naive women into prostituting for him. You never know. Be safe.

Oh my god I can’t believe what I’m reading. I read the same exact ad when I was 19 (many years ago) and yes it was a pervy older man who ended up trying to have phone sex with me. I can’t believe this is still going on. It is a scam. Now that I think about it I’m so glad I didn’t go through with it—it’s very possible this could be a human trafficking trap
