what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
What do you guys use as your cover job? I’ll need something that would make sense for me to be in another city for most days of the week. But I also don’t want to tell people for example, that I’m a photographer and get caught in a lie when they ask questions that a photographer would know?
I have a background in psych and teaching music if that’s any help coming up with good cover ideas
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
Since you've taught music before you could say that you are tutoring people in that. Promotion modeling for special events? That's what I use when I travel out of town or out of state. Sometimes I actually do out of town or out of state promotion gigs though. You could just say freelance modeling. If that's your pic in the avatar you certainly are pretty enough to use that as a cover. If you don't want to use either of those you can say that you work as a traveling sales rep and pick whatever fake product or service.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
I tell them I do fashion catalogue modelling and do some regular-nightclub podium/stage dancing.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
Tell 'em you are a cattle buyer.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
^ Oh my lord, poke! :rotfl: That's hilarious! That could backfire though if someone was in the south.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
When I did strip trips, I told people I was a hotel Bible distributor.
Nobody ever questioned it.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
I just tell them about my last job position as if I’m still working there.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
Work from home telemarketer or tech support when I was camming, HITS was the main cover story. Nowadays we run a "payroll company".

Always the chance of encountering someone with cattle to sell.

Omg that’s too funny. You made my day.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
Telemarketing works great- hardly anyone will ask any questions
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
I don't know why but, outside of say a business networking conference where everyone is in the same industry, I really hate when people ask this question. 99% of the time they are only asking to size you up to see how much money you make and where to place you on their totem pole of relevance. It's really obnoxious when the first thing people ask is "so what do you do?"
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
Private tutor for childrens music ? It's not like that is EVER something they could check up on.

I’m the 1% that actually cares...lol. Yes, I agree the motive is not sincere interest.
I tell people I’m an apartment personal trainer.
Remember if you tell a lie stick to the story and deny, deny, deny anything else.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
There are several good cover jobs now that Internet and Smartphones allow gig jobs-
* dog walker/sitter
* childcare
* professional cleaner
* home health care aide
* telemarketer from home
* auto detailer/dealership worker
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
I never really needed a cover . I always had other things going on ( even if it was just 4-5 hours a week ) that I could realistically pretend I was doing more often or that I was in town for.
^ It was always when people would PRESS that things go difficult.
FYI .... it's always your FRIENDS by the way who will get you busted.
TELL ONLY 1 friend if you must tell someone, ha. Then you'll know who to track down.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
modeling, if you're hot and I'm sure you are. explains all the money too.

Yeah I feel you on that one. I never used to ask it because I realized that like me, not everyone feels comfortable talking about what they do. Whether you’re a SW or a cashier, the exact reason you describe is why they don’t like talking about it ... funny enough my second gig is an online sales job where it makes sense to ask that question. But only when I’m working hat job do I ever ask hat q.
Re: what’s your “Cover” job that you tell people?
I tell everybody I'm into affiliate marketing.
