Nevada Brothel Prostitution and Future Effect on Med School
Hi ladies! I've been approved to work at Sheri's Ranch, but I want to go to med school in a couple of years. Do any of you know how this would hurt my prospects of getting into med school or a good residency?
And I misspelled "school." Ooooh the irony.

Possibly! And you might risk a medical license. I would suggest working at a club instead.

You have to get a sheriff's card, give your ss #, and I believe that there is some chance that a brothel might show up on your background check in the future. It would say 'entertainer' or something like that. Mostly government type hospitals(like VA hospitals) or public service run the kind of extensive background checks that this would potentially be an issue. Other workplaces might run such background checks as well at their own discretion. It's hard to know for sure. If you want to be on the safe side, I'd suggest you don't work for a brothel, even though it's a legal one. There's the whole morality thing with medical professionals. Then again, I've heard of plenty of nurses who worked as strippers and didn't lose their jobs. There's also that porn star who became a nurse and another one who somehow became a teacher. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Would the fact it is legal matter?
Re: Nevada Brothel Prostitution and Future Effect on Med Schook
We live in a time where that stuff shouldn’t matter as it is legal, but people are judgmental. I think it depends on the state and where (major hospital would probably do deeper background check). If you are serious it might be worth the $$$ to talk a private investigator about background checks and whatever body that would license you. I think the stripperweb opinion is it depends and there’s always a risk working in this industry will be used against you. . As far as nursing what I’ve done before as a nurse is irrelevant, but after I get my RN is where if they find out they could fine me. We aren’t a protected class unfortunately. I know in nursing they only do criminal background checks. But I don’t know about med school babe. My therapist pointed out to me there’s a lot of doctors with shady histories and usally they just get put on probation and pay a fine.
Wish you the best of luck.
If you find out let us know.

I'm actually hoping to go into ob/gyn, and serve sex workers at least for a time.

I know a full time rehab therapist where if you google his name it says without even clicking his wiki page that he is a former escort. Guess they’re not as strict as I thought

I think it might actually go against the AMA code of ethics. Regardless whether it's legal or not.

I'm curious if its because he's a man. I hate to say, but men get passes many times when women don't.
Re: Nevada Brothel Prostitution and Future Effect on Med School
I’m a licensed medical professional, I have been for the last 5 years. Sex work, even legal can be grounds for license suspension or other reprimands that may or may not stay on your license. With that being said, what you do pre licensure and before the program will not necessarily affect your ability to sit for boards. Sadly, it’s on a case by case basis. Some are vilified and lose their license and some are not. For example, I keep what I do under wraps, not just because of my profession but because I have children and am in an area of small minded people. I know a nurse who has and continues to do adult work without issue. It is well known by the employer etc., granted it is a conversation piece among her coworkers at times but that is it. However, I know another nurse who was reported and ended up surrendering her license as to avoid a permanent reprimand on her license that she would forever have to explain to potential employers and hefty fines. I would keep in mind that medical school is much more difficult to gain acceptance than RN school. Even if no flags are raised with your school, you will have to go through a background for each and every clinical site and for residency, which could be a no go. You would be safer even camming.
