Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
And my contribution to this thread is I have some savings. I have more savings now than I’ve ever saved in my life probably. I can attribute the discipline I have with money now to gaining a huge windfall then spending it all and not having shit to show for it hardly, and realigning my values to really value wealth and savings, but camming is what has allowed me to have the income and freedom to get back on track and actually build something.

So really, the issue is NOT the industry at all. It's perhaps in the fact that this industry in particular A: Brings in pretty good money hourly/daily/weekly. and B: Brings in money fast (no plugging away 5 years to see success but quite instant success in many cases and C: Can be (depending who you ask) deemed as "easy money" for many people, working from home with no commute, time freedom and camming 5 hours a day is pretty darn easy compared to what they used to do.
And it looks like these factors trigger something off in majority of us to make us instantly want to spend spend spend (especially if you come from being broke, it can really feel like your rich when your not) which then results in people wasting money rather than being wise with it.
Then you end up like me, done with my good earning years, too frustrated to earn good money and broke lol.
So not the industry at all, just the effect it can have and the people with bad money habits.
Remind me again, WHY don't they teach this in schools?
People try to blame the adult industry but it's really not true. Rich rap stars end up broke, rich athletes end up broke, movie stars end up broke and even doctors and lawyers do. You just need to learn to handle your money and bring in enough of it.
I see more women thriving in this industry and supporting themselves than any other. I think those who are making a lot and doing well with nice houses and cars don't want the abuse that sometimes happens when posting about it out here in public.

the rest are great for motivation but always stick with your plan.
I even got myself the audio book from Grant Cardone which I tend to listen when I am running errands. I might get the printed book I have the ebook some where, but ebooks always get lost on me.
Dave Ramsey baby step gave me a plan I can put into action right now.
but after baby step 5 the whole kid colleges this is where my dreams take over. Cause I am not having kids to worry if they get into college and my family who has kids that is their responsibility.
my plan is to have so much money I will die before I use it all and then when I die people will have to come to the funeral for their cash of envelope first come first get. but while I am living every dollar goes to me and my whatever lucky man I am with.

When you get a paycheck of $x, immediately divide it. 20-30% for taxes, 30% for investment back into the business, 30% for personal savings, and the rest as spending money.
I.E. you get $100 check from anywhere (camming, clip site, phone sex operating, etc).
Put $20-30 into a savings account to pay your taxes at the end of the year, $30 in a checking account for business expenses only (new camera, equipment, clothing, etc), and another $30 into a different savings account that is pure savings (emergency, rainy day, etc)((you should strive to have a 3-6 month savings cushion as an emergency fund)). And the rest you can use for bills/pampering/etc.
If you are just starting out, don't upgrade your equipment until you have enough that your bills are paid for with the extra. It's not necessary. Or only upgrade from a wishlist when someone sends you a giftcard (that's what I do and my entire wardrobe and studio equipment have been paid this way).
EDIT: Basically, start thinking that every check you get isn't $x. Instead a $100 check is actually $10-20 in your pocket. It's an entirely different mindset.
That's what I do except I just put 40% in my savings or money market account.. even if the deposit is only $20 or some small amount from a skype show..etc etc... Now unfortunately I don't get to keep the entire 40% but that's what I do for simplicity sake.. I do not spend that money except for mortgage and car payment as those are big ticket bills... the rest stays there.. and if I need to pay my taxes or whatever from there then I do.. I just focus on keeping the money in the savings... the rest of the money sits in checking and I pay bills and automatic withdrawals of investments.

Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
The easiest way to create a budget when you are self employed. Considering you have no clue how much you will make every month.. Add up all income for the entire year.. or multiple year average and divide it by 12.. That's your average monthly income. Then create categories and assign percentages to each category. I hope this tip helps. Because when I created a budget in the beginning I was stumped on what to do because we are not on a fixed income.

I went with my fixed expenses first as income i must make. So the whole shelter, insurance, utilities, groceries, transportation, and food. then clothing. just basic clothing and my hair when needed.
That way I know where I stand if i am at bare bones. everything else on top of that basics is pretty much assigned an amount and then must have savings for emergencies and retirement planning.
anything more you are pretty much making more money to cover them.

Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
I have a couple months worth of absolutely dire expenses in an emergency fund that I do not touch for anything. I do wish I had more in savings after 4 years of camming, but honestly, living in a medium-high COL area, alone (with mental health issues that make it nearly impossible for me to put in full time cam hours), is really expensive. So I'm proud of what I've accomplished under my specific circumstances, and I do feel like I have a fair amount to show for it. First I got myself out of a toxic, psychologically abusive, physically dangerous roommate situation. Now I rent a 2 bedroom house in a safe neighborhood by myself, that I have fully furnished by being frugal, DIYing, and thrifting. I own a reliable used car that I bought outright. I have no debt (paid it all off last year thanks to a few months of hustling hard), I have excellent credit, and I'm able to afford really good no-deductible health insurance out of pocket. Lately I've had some unexpected health issues and it puts me at ease knowing a potential medical bill wouldn't set me back too much. I only work maybe 20 hours a week average (working on seriously increasing this next year), and I frequently take several days off due to depression/anxiety. I'm able to afford various creative hobbies that keep me sane.
All of those factors are very valuable to me, because I would otherwise likely be deep in debt, with crappy or no health insurance, working a dead end job, living with shitty roommates in a sketchy part of town, and lacking the freedom of an open schedule which would be detrimental to my mental health, if it weren't for camming.
I turn 30 in 2020. My goals for 2019 are to end the year with 5 figures in my savings account and to finally start contributing to a retirement fund. I will soon be picking up some freelance vanilla work to do during the day to pad my income and make me less stressed about the unpredictability of cam shifts. I really think diversifying my income is going to help me stay motivated and get me closer to my financial goals.
I think the basic reason more people in general (not just this industry) are not financially stable is due to lack of financial education, followed by lack of discipline.
-
Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
I will also add, from a financial standpoint, camming is really no different than any other freelance/self employed work. There are plenty of articles, blogs, forums, etc. that offer personal finance advice for freelancers with unpredictable income.
I frequent various related subreddits such as r/personalfinance, r/entrepreneur, r/financialindependence, r/leanfire, r/digitalnomad, etc for advice and inspiration. I'm also fond of The Financial Diet and Minority Mindset, which both have YouTube channels and written blogs.
It really helps to be around a community of financially- likeminded people, even if you're just lurking, and especially if no one else in your regular life understands the self employed struggle or has any serious financial goals.

Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
Again, thank you for ALL your input.
Huge well done to the ladies on here who have got something to show for themselves for your hard work, even if you might feel it's not much or as much as you hoped for. It's still something to be hugely proud of.
Those who are in my boat and don't have anything to really show for it. I'm glad there are resources that have been posted here to help get on the right path. It's never too late to start NOW and I think when you start now, as you mean to go on then in 3 months/6 months/5 years down the line, you'll be grateful you started then.
Question: Does anyone here do a second self-employed income job where you work from home?
If so, do you find that's more enjoyable than sex work? Do you find it's better to have both rather than just sex work alone?
Is it as stressful/burnout potential as sex work?

There are so many threads talking about non-sex work related jobs. The Other Work section is filled with them. I point this out because I think it's great to pay homage to those who've previously contributed to the site. Here's one thats quite recent: https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...-How-about-you

I'm about to get back into a separate self-employed at-home line of work that I was doing before I started camming. I won't disclose specifics as it's pretty niche and is unfortunately not an opportunity that anyone can just apply for (I already have an established skillset as well as past companies/contacts I can reach out to.) But it will probably pay about $25-40/hour. I'm aiming to get at least 10 hours a week, but I could potentially find more. I quit this line of work about six months into camming, when I was confident I could rely on adult income alone and was way more excited about camming than I am now. But at this point (several years later) I now realize the importance of multiple sources of income. I also think it will be good for my mental health to have some regular vanilla work that doesn't have to do with sex. Over time it has become very draining to put all of my work energy into camming and fetish clips, with nothing non-sexual and "normal" to balance it out.
Honestly I don't really care how "enjoyable" my work is. Most people don't have that luxury with their regular jobs, so I try not to look at it that way. It's about efficiency and working smarter, not harder. It's about maximizing my time in relation to my goals, while maintaining a healthy work/life balance, and having time for relationships, hobbies, etc. without going into full hermit workaholic mode.
Stress and burnout is so relative. I think the reason I tend to get burnout with camming is because nothing is guaranteed. The highs are super high and the lows are super low. You can work for so many hours and end up making nothing, and just feel drained and defeated. Or, you can do a camathon and have a super amazing paycheck at the end, but be so burnt out that you don't work the next week, which effectively averages out to two regular paychecks anyway. I think I am far less likely to get stressed/burnt out with work that actually has deadlines and obligations that I can work into my schedule, and guaranteed pay, which is exactly why I'm taking on extra work in a different field.

Yes last couple of years I think from 2013. I've been diving more into mainstream affiliate marketing and network marketing companies. landed in one company that teaches you how to trade in foreign currency and crypto currency. my logic to start it was I already make US dollars living in Canada on I am already participating in foreign currency trading but with learning forex trading means i can make more money from trading in currency pairs.
It's a super mentally challenging skills are is uses a completely different part of the brain from doing cam shows. it fact I feel completely mentally bored with it sometimes. but the team I am on is awesome and I don't have to trade everyday to have the income results I want to achieve.
affiliate marketing outside of adult has always been huge it is way more then amazon so those sales when they come in really give me a confidence boost that I can sell anything. network marketing is the same too.
what I found with network marketing is the people some of those stories they are misfits just like us over here in being a cam model. so entering that world was only scaring because of the story i kept telling myself i didn't belong when really I have every space and right to be in that industry and make as much ridiculous money as I want
Selling is a ever green skill does not matter what you are selling it's all about the value you can deliver.
the switch of letting go old behaviors is only scaring in the beginning because the future is all about creation and the past is all about holding on to something that doesn't exist.

Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
I am very inspired by this thread however I do have a different experience when it comes to this.
I have been in this industry since 2012 mainly camming but also making videos and phone sex.
I am a single mom of two and I have some autoimmune issues which make it very hard for me to work 40 hours a week
I would say on a good day i can work 4 to 5 hours consecutively.
When i total my average earnings for the month on a good month I average about $1400 which i know is NOTHING compared to most girls here. I am one of those living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to make ends meet in this industry. I am doing everything on my part to better my content and my cam shows yet my average earning always stays the same between 40-60 dollars a day on a good day. I pay about $1500 in rent and bills so my expenses are exceeding my income at this time. In order for me to pay everything I have to work every single day with 0 days off. I am burnt out and exhausted to say the least. My financial stress makes me even more sick. But I am responsible for supporting my family all alone so I do this every single day, wake up and do it again. I would love to be able to save money and create an emergency fund but I don't see how. This is just my experience and it has been this way for years. I can't be the only one.
How can girls like me struggling very much to make a living in this industry ever save money or budget properly if we are not making enough to begin with.

Analyze your PASSIVE income streams, this should be a focus. Passive income helps supplement your active earnings and can usually do a much better job at it. How often do you make videos? Where do you post them for sale (please use multiple platforms)? What's your best sellers? What do you enjoy the most? With phone sex, does your platform allow other content? Sell your clips there, sell mp3s, make recorded listings. Do you have a customer base and a way to contact your customers? Typically sites will have an email marketing feature, use it. Every time you put something out, let your customers know.
Be consistent with updating new content. The more you update, the more passive income you will earn.

if you aren't making enough to break even on your bills, you either must find a way to increase your income or decrease expenses. Can you move into a smaller place with cheaper rent? Can you spend less on food/groceries? Are either of your kids old enough to work/contribute to household expenses? Do you have any valuable items you could sell to get a little bit ahead?
Sounds like you're averaging a little over $10/hr on cam, which is basically minimum wage after taxes. You could make that doing vanilla work like virtual call centers/remote customer service reps and I imagine it would be less exhausting. I would check out some of the "side hustle"/Other Work threads; I think you could find quite a few opportunities that will pay what you already average on cam, with more stability and less physical work. Then you could cam to supplement that, and hopefully not have to be working everyday. If you can make just a bit more than you are now, you'll be on your way to being able to create a budget and have money leftover each month to start saving.

Thank you, I have started to upload more consistently and my two main sites are manyvids and c4s. last month on both i averaged about $400 but i was new on c4s so i had new girl traffic. I have been trying to upload every day or every other day. I also upload clips to NF, and now Streamate. Best sellers for me are always ass videos, and belly play but there is only so much belly and ass play i can do lol. I am out of ideas. I have never really kept an email marketing list as i am not really sure how to do it. On manyvids i do thank the guys for their purchases or for following me and ask them to check out my new videos.
Thanks

Thank you I have considered and applied at call centers, my BIGGEST issue is transportation. Most of these are about 20-30 minutes away and i would have to take lyft or uber. Now if they only pay 10/hour i am basically paying over half my check per day on uber. So that is why i keep camming because i save on the rides. I feel stuck because of this. I feel like i could have that extra income if i didn't have to pay so much for transportation. bus routes would require me walking to them and i can't with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I have applied for work from home but no luck yet with a legitimate company.

You already have an email list then with C4S, and using it is like printing money! I'm not kidding. I never used it before, but once someone told me about and I started sending out emails even just a few times a week, I had regular customers and old customers coming back to buy more over and over again. And every time I sent out an email, I made more sales the next day, guaranteed.
In the admin, at the top is a brown book that's labeled Emails. Click that. Then you can write out your email. Don't go crazy with formatting it, just write out something simple like "Hey I just uploaded 2 new ass clips this week, check them out. And I have some belly clips coming later this week Stay tuned." And on the right are your most recent clips. You can add an excerpt to your clips directly into the email, just click the small black arrow under the thumbnail and it will copy it right in.
As for new content, you would be surprised what can inspire you. Peruse the categories and other clips around the sites. I always gain inspiration from seeing others work. Never copy, of course. But see what comes to you. I do a TON of ass and titty clips. New outfits but the same content is fine. They still buy it. Just change up the title and description like it's something new. My panty clips are also big sellers. Find a couple of stores/artists that are in your niche and check out what they are doing/how they are doing it.

Oh... you're not signed up with C4S directly? It is so much better to sign up as an independent producer with these sites. Sorry but I don't know anything about how to manage when you are with a studio. Perhaps reach out to them or read anything you have with them to see what they do (if anything) to market your content.

I was signed up directly and then switched to Boleyn for daily pay. Typically they just pay me and take a percent but for some reason I can't access my emails to customers now. I will email them to find out how to do it. Thank you.

Re: What do you have from camming/clip making?
I have a side hustle, I sell used designer clothes on Poshmark and Ebay. I don't make $1000's doing yet, but I do make $100's every month. It gets me out of the house and gives me something to do in my down time. As it grows, it will become my fulltime job and I will do less and less camming. I don't wanna cam forever, but I need to start planning for my exit in the next few years.
