How to productively pass slow times in the club
Im going to travel one week out of the month to dance in a different city, so I’m thinking of doing doubles to make it worth my while. But even when during regular length shifts, it’s easy to lose focus and feel out of whack by the time it does pick up again.
What do you do during slow time to deal with boredom not lose focus? I don’t really like to scroll endlessly on social media or play games, bc idk how to explain it but they aren’t very “present” activities and this job requires a strong present (or conscious) mindset.

At my dive, i would stretch on stage and / or practice pole tricks. It'd give customers in the club something to watch without making me feel like i was getting naked for free, the stretching felt good, and if a customer came up to my stage while i was stretching, i could start dancing for them on stage or hustle them into a private dance.
This was usually right after the club opened, when things were too slow to have a stage rotation going.

I usually stretch, go for a smoke, eat, curl/do my hair as it can be quite time consuming, touch up my makeup, read hustle hut, and listen to law of attraction playlists on my phone! I’m actually on this thread right now because it’s slow right now haha.

Read old threads on SW (it's still scrolling but at least it has helpful info & is 'on topic').
I'll dick around & chat with the bouncers too. It's good for social capital, they seem to keep a better eye on the girls who are friendly to them as far as reprimanding handsy customers.
Re: How to productively pass slow times in the club
if it’s really slow I’ll sit at the bar and have a weak drink like a beer that I can just sip on until things pick up. I will also talk to bouncers, say hi to some of the girls, chit chat with the manager if he’s making his way around, talk to the DJ about any new music ideas I have for my set, go to the bathroom if I need to, organize my dance bag, check myself out in the mirror, look at SW, watch other girls on stage, look for new music, change my outfit, put lotion on, look at new dance outfits on the internet, mess with my make up or hair, ect. We also have house moms in our bathroom in the city that I work in and they have stuff for sale like outfits, jewelry, & other stripper related items so sometimes Ill check those out to keep my mind in the right place. I like to stay busy so I don’t lose motivation so I always do whatever I can to keep myself busy until I get a customer or until the club picks up to where I’m making good stage money. Sometimes if I do all of that and it’s still painfully slow I will think about all the great money nights I’ve had and think about the types of customers I want to have that night. It helps keep me positive.

Last night, I was reading Hegel. (Dry stuff, it was for school)
If you don’t have school obligations, there’s always reading other stuff. Whether entertaining fiction, or self help, or how-to stuff, etc hooray for cell phones

Puzzles and games!
I used to keep a travel-sized chess set and a book of crossword puzzles in my locker. I found them both to be good for multiple purposes: productive pastimes, piquing customer curiosity when it was slow, and as yet another means of entertaining customers in VIP.
On a bet, during one of those super slow nights when we were still doing stage rotations despite having the same half-dozen cheapos sitting for hours, I spent almost my entire three-song set working a crossword while hanging upside down on the pole. It got me the $50 from the bet as well as some additional novelty tips.

It's a little weird but works ok in Portland. I took up Poi so I'll practice spinning while it's dead. I want to learn to spin fire so I figure all the hours of practice poi should set me up to get to that level quicker and with more confidence.
