Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
Hey all! So I have been dancing long enough that I have had several moments of burnout, packing up, and walking out mid shift at more than a couple clubs. Mostly in Portland. I want to get hired back at one club that seemed to be the best, looking back with hindsight 20/20 and all... but when I sent in the info to audition and said I used to work there, I didn't get contacted back to audition. Shocker, I know, serves me right, BUT!...
Has anyone used a burner phone (managers in Portland often use phone numbers for scheduling and might track dancers this way) and lied about past clubs, hoping a manager won't remember you, and let you audition and hire you back?
I mean, they have got to see so many ladies come through, think they would really remember? I was always low drama except for the walking out mid shift part ;D
One bartender caught me and was so pissed, she followed me out to the parking lot vowing "I will make sure you never work here again!!"... so maybe I won't try THAT club... lol...
Thanks ladies

How did you piss off a bartender so?
The flaw I see with your tactic is that this is the Information Age. Even if a manager doesn’t remember you (which I’m going to be skeptical of if a bartender does), your name is on a computer record. So I’m kinda doubtful you’ll be 100% forgotten.

I pissed her off because I packed up and walked out mid-shift when I was having a panic attack, and refused to come back after she came out to the parking lot to try and get me to come back.
Anyway, good point, I was wondering how clubs track dancers. I know Deja Vu and other chains track, but some of the dives just seem to glance at your ID, maybe make you sign a piece of paper, and that's it.
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
Weird that a bartender would do that… you’d think a manager or house mom, but a bartender?
Either way, wishing you the best.
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
I would honestly just get ready , pack your dancer bag up , and go to a few places with the intention of working that night.
You are not going to get recognized EVERYWHERE . If you run into someone you pissed off , say you are very sorry.
I don't think you can actually get fully fired in this industry unless you literally burn DOWN a club or get caught doing something illegal. Ha.
Think of how many dancers pull dramatic bull shit and are still kicking around - you are probably far from the first in the place you were at !
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
Exactly. ^ Don't bother with online apps , just go in person and audition. Managers know strippers are crazy, dramatic, and flakey lol. You didn't even do anything that bad. I just wouldn't lie, I've seen girls not get hired because they lied about working there in the past/reasons why they got fired etc.

Shit, yeah, you are right. It's just that so many Portland clubs do scheduling; you can't just show up, you have to send in pics and get a text or email back to audition. Not for all but for the stage-centric clubs I like most. I guess honesty is better, true. Well good thing is there are like 40 clubs to choose from around here :D
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
I hate bartenders at clubs. NO offense. They always have this holier than thou attitude towards everyone there, won't look at people or be courteous or just set a drink down. Like bitch please you are as bad as customer service at baggage claim at LAX. Anyways it's not up to a bartender to keep you there...you have some apologizing to do to those who hire not some bartender on cheap hourly staff.... and proof that it won't happen again.
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
I hate bartenders who obviously think they're superior to dancers, and believe they have any pull over the club (beyond fucking the owner/managers lol). Getting hired 101 will pretty much tell you to avoid online applications at all costs. Your application will be ignored 9/10. Go in person. They need to see what you look like and feel out your overall vibe. I've cussed out managers, left mid shift, and swore to the Gods I'd never work at a club again, only to come back years later and be rehired as soon as I walked in the door. At one club I was suspended over something minor years ago, and I tried to get rehired and didn't due to club politics. So, it really depends on the club, but trust me ...chances are you will be just fine.
I've seen so many girls pull the craziest shit you can think of, and they were rehired. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even if you did make it on a manager's shit list and they're the only one with hiring/firing authority, oh well. It's Portland. You guys have more strip clubs per capita than any other city in the US. You will be fine. You will get hired somewhere.
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
I think you’re overthinking things-I could be wrong. Most people are so self-absorbed or dealing with other drama that they won’t think of the girl who left during her shift for a legit reason. Who the fuck wants an entertainer working while having a panic attack. They are in the wrong-not you. It’s not like you punched anyone in the face or something.
Re: Crossing burned bridges: getting hired back?
For sure. Bartender was like "you can't leave!!" Bitch, watch me... and don't let me run over your foot with my car as I get the fuck outa here :D

Haven't punched anyone in the face YET, though I did slap a guy for trying to lick me while my back was turned :D
