Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
I called all clubs and asked what time they held auditions. most just said come with permit. I got the permit, went during those times. Was told they weren't hiring every time. Turned away almost immediately. Well Cheetah's said to come back the next day to take pictures so they could sent to management. But said they're pretty much at capacity since they have 29 girls on dayshift alone. I had to get a $510 license to even audition, only to find out clubs aren't hiring.
I'm black, fit, tattoos, big natural hair, style is considered "alt"

I went to Cheetahs without a permit. The manager knew this but took my pics anyway which I thought was odd then he said he wasn’t hiring me because I didn’t have a permit and that he had 25 girls.
I’m def looking at clubs in LA. I knew that I didn’t want to buy a permit in SD without going to a ‘top’ SD club first since I haven’t heard anything good about stripping in SD at all. I’m also considering Vegas if I do want a permit one day. It’s nice to find someone nearby who’s also going through this process right now!
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
Yes I'm glad it's not just me. On some dancer instagrams, the girls say don't bother here.
I didn't go back to cheetahs because I didn't want him to just take pictures and I'm not getting hired anyway.
If I could travel I would go elsewhere. Expose is looking for servers at the moment. They told me to come back in a month when things could potentially pick up. But I heard that was a slow club so, I'm not sure. I need to make that 510 dollars back though.

Have you looked into the Deja Vu chains yet? I hate what they’ve done with switching to employee status now but they say you can request an audition at any time. I’m thinking of going to the one in City of Industry today but I’m super nervous lol
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
I have avoided them because of the employee status, I need to strip specifically because I need my money NOW. It might be my only hope though. Let me know how it goes! If you like the vibe, I'll check it out too.

I completely understand the money situation, I feel the same way. I’m so hesitant about Deja Vu because of their employee status and because of their paycheck every 2 weeks. Especially dancing in SD, I’m not sure how much you’d even get in those checks. The industry is down in So Cal which sucks so much right now :(

Have you looked into the club in Oceanside?
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
If I wanted minimum wage and a regular check I would've stayed at my other shitty job.
The Oceanside club, definitely worth a shot. I heard it was a really good spot. You have to do amateur night as your audition which is pretty awesome I think at least. It's about a 40 minute drive for me. Are you going to audition there?

I am considering it but I think their amateur nights are only the first Wednesday of every month so I’d have to wait until next month. I’m interested though!! From what I’ve read it’s the only club in SD county where you don’t need a permit. I feel like the crowd would be better than it is down there too, especially since it’s the only strip club over there. How far are you willing to drive for work?
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
are you over 21?
You could try Pacers. I don't hear great things about the other topless 21+ club Pure Platinum but you won't know if you don't try it yourself.
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
Deja Vu and Little Darlings do get busy, if you can tolerate the employee setup and them taking an offensive cut of your money. You keeps all your cash tips.
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
I'm over 21, I went to pure platinum and they turned me away. I might try out Deja vu. Thank you so much for responding. It helps for sure.

Let me know if you do try Deja Vu!
Re: Can't get hired in San Diego/ hiring freeze/ law "change"
These new employment laws have the club scene a mess. The clubs can not hire or rotate dancers like they have in the past. The cost to "hire" a dancer is more more for the club owner than when girls danced as contractors. So the clubs have a smaller group of regular employees dancing. Most are not taking on new dancers because of this. Your problem has become quite common across the state. It's a shame because it is now nearly impossible for new dancers to even break into the industry.
