A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Hello writers! The cam girls and clip girls have their own encouragement threads, so I started one for us!
Give us the details, tell everyone how far you have come with your story, roadblocks or writer's block, or anything else you want to share. Use this as encouragement and accountability to stay motivated as you begin (or continue) your career as a writer.
Include any questions you want or anything else you'd like to talk about. May the odds be ever in your favor! :D
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Hello, beautiful writers,
I am a PSO and I write romance erotica. Yesterday I published my first book on Amazon. I am so excited... I have to start a new one now. I do not know how to promote this book, what price is the best for a new writer and new release. I enrolled it in KU but somebody told me to give it for free for 3-4 days for clients outside KU.
What do you think?
If Jeniffer was so nice to start this thread let's set the challenge for writing! How many words per day to write? And how we will going to challenge each other?
KISSES and HUGS from me!!
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Your best bet is to write your next story. I wouldn't do free days until you have a few other stories up so that you can get eyes on your other paid work. If it's erotica no less than 2.99 regardless of length, If it's romance well it depends on a number of factors.
I have to edit 7k and dictate 5k today. That's my goal.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Thank you. Is the 3rd day on Amazon and I did not sell any cooy. Mmmm. I am worried a little. Thanks so much.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
The more books you have the more you will sell. How are your key words?
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
I've thought about getting into this for a while now. how do I start? Sorry for thread jacking.

Check out the Kindle Store on Amazon and browse the different categories of books to see what interests you. A lot of people start with short erotica. But there is undoubtedly more money to be made with novellas and especially full length (50k+) novels. Download & read a bunch of books for research and to get a feel for what's selling. After that you can make an account with Kindle Direct Publishing. If you enroll your books in Kindle Unlimited, you're exclusive to Amazon, but if not, you can publish there as well as other storefronts like Kobo, Google, Barnes & Noble, etc.
There's A LOT that goes into it all. It's impossible to cover everything, but if you have specific questions I'd be happy to try to answer.
As for me I just published my fifth novel this year on my pen name and I'm halfway through the sixth--on a very tight pre-order deadline that I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to meet, lol. Whoops. Earnings are gradually increasing and my recent books are ranking high in their categories (for a little while anyway). Still not a full-time income, but I might be able to get there within the next couple months if I can stick to my exhausting publishing schedule.
I wish I was making more by now because my books are LONG AS FUCK and I'm tired. As for word count I try to aim for 5k/day but I almost never meet it. I've been struggling lately... feeling a little bit unfocused and scattered. I'd say my average lately is about 2k-3k per day.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Smurfette have you tried dictation. it takes some getting used to but it helps immensely with word count.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
Oops, super late response. No, I've never tried dictation. It seems kind of weird to me, but I guess I won't know whether I like it until I actually try! It might be good to switch it up occasionally, so I'll look into it!
Things are going well with writing. I'm still not at the point where it's a full-time income, but I think I'll get there within a few months, hopefully. I'm sticking to a schedule of one new release per month. More than that really isn't sustainable for me right now, but fortunately that seems to be enough to keep the momentum going. I've ordered all new covers & I'm going through and redoing blurbs and just generally trying to tighten my brand. I've definitely made some mistakes along the way so now I'm trying to fix those and keep running a tight ship.

Hoping to see this thread stay active.
I’ve published six stories with only a few sales a month between them. They were well received by those who did read but I don’t think my category is a very popular one. So I’m looking to try something else.
Just about everything I’ve learned about self publishing erotica I learned from this subreddit. It is a literal gold mine of information if anyone here might need it.

Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
So excited to see this thread. My 2020 goal is to write 2K words a day and publish 12 books. But I will be satisfied if I hit 1K words per day and release six books. My genre is urban fantasy.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
I just wanted to add the following resources: on Facebook, there is a group, 20SteamyBookstoSuccess. It is quite active.
In addition, there are a number of podcasts related to Romance, including Erotic Romance, with an emphasis on self-publishing. The Wicked Wallflowers Club, Fated Mates, Read Me Romance, and Smart Podcast/Trashy Books, to name a few. A favorite of mine is Love Notes with Julie and Jonathan. It is hosted by JA Huss, a writer of steamy erotic romances. She has interviews with romance writers of all genres, but especially erotic romances. Most of the writers are self-published and all are NY Times/USA Today best-selling writers.
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
I written about 5-10 stories this past 6 months but I never can get it going passed the 6K words mark. I’m still trying to find myself as a romance writer. I just wanted to keep this thread active.
How do y’all balance life with writing?
Re: A Page A Day-Erotica/Romance Writing Accountability
I would love to join this thread. I have a goal to write a short story of 2000 words by the end of may.
