How to avoid smelling like smoke to the best of your ability
Just worked my first night. I just don't want to feel as physically dirty as I did. I detest smoke but everyone is smoking. I'm thinking of covering my head with a scarf when I enter the dressing room. I went home smelling like Indian men and smoke, especially in my hair. Yuck. Maybe rub myself down with alcohol after a dance then layering the perfume? Anyone have any tips or how-tos?
I've been reading a lot on here and I feel like some people come to the newbie threads just to say, "WELL, maybe you're not cut out for this if you don't like smelling like Indian men, you ignorant!" If I'm doomed to smelling this way every night, alright lmao I'll deal.

I haven't danced yet but def understand smelling like smoke. I actually smoke cigs myself but even after going into a bar or club for fun I smell even more so than just what i do normally.

There really isn't a way around it short of Fabreeze-ing yourself. If your club allows smoking, the nasty smell will just come with the territory.
I feel you though. Never been a smoker, I hate the smell and have a horrid reaction to smoky environments.

OP,I have asthma and I know EXACTLY what u mean, but im sry to say that there isn't any way around it. what i do is take detox baths religiously (1-2x's) a wk w/ 1 cup of baking soda and/or 1 cup epsom salt. As u know epsom salt helps with muscle aches. Baths overall just relax u and bring u some form of a piece of mind after u've just worked a long shift, lol!
GL OP!

Years ago I danced in a dive & my hair had 2 b washed daily cause of this!
I know Ozium spray is the best ever for smoke odor, but it's just for the air
Re: How to avoid smelling like smoke to the best of your ability
I hate it! Every place I dance recently, they let the dancers smoke in the ladies room. And a few guys were convinced I was a cigarette smoker and they wouldn't dance with me at first because they didn't want to go home to their wives smelling like cigarettes. They ended up getting dances with me anyway, but I couldn't blame them for hesitating. I am an occasional pot smoker and so that smell I could handle. And I do work in states where it's legal. But cigarette smoke is so nasty, no offense to smokers. I was a smoker as a teen so I'm not a total hater.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I guess we all share these woes for the most part. But it's a job... fishermen go home smelling fishy. I'll cope! I'm under 21 so I haven't been in a bar-smokey environment before, didn't know about it.

Lots of cigarettes chain smokers (indoors enclosed space) here and just damn 2nd hand smoke is a real thing and annoying af.
After a shift, Ride with windows down and let the breeze air out any smoke smells etc. until you can get to a shower.
In a pinch use fabreeze for fabrics on clothes that have smoke smell and some hair refreshing spray

I'll definitely be too sleepy to run a bath after work but I'll try the morning after one of these days, perhaps!

Ride with the car window down! This is why I come here. You gals are smarter than me.
