Oh yeah, most importantly: house parents decide your house fee, can let you go home early, and decide to fine you or not if you miss a shift. I’ll tip at least $20 each night so I can save hundreds when I need it.

It sounds like you've had some good house moms. I've never had house moms who did any of this. Most of mine have passively sat there and scrolled through Instagram all night. Some of the worse house moms instigated drama between the dancers, and thought all of our names were "Hoe". Even if they did do all of these things or even some of these things, we're adults who need to be prepared for our jobs. Let those who aren't prepared, go without, and eventually they'll learn to be more organized. Just my opinion. I'd rather keep my extra $10 at the end of the night.
I agree with a couple of the other replies to this post. At the clubs I've worked at, only the manager has the power to hire or fire girls; however, I've also seen the setup where the house mom acts as the intermediary between the girls and management, even watching auditions with management. I understand the need to have resources available to girls who need them or are ill-prepared; however, it also does hurt to have to front extra money to someone whose resources I never used if I've had a bad night. As far as getting girls to come in when the amount of customers exceeds the amount of girls, management at the clubs I've worked at typically take the responsibility on themselves to reach out to girls since they know better than anyone which girls work which shifts and which girls are more likely to be available to respond and work.
As a rule of principle, I keep any money I have in my belongings on me the entire time (literally tied to my garter belt) I'm on my shifts, even if it's money left over from a previous day or so. If I'm really suspicious about a girl, I'll leave my stuff in management's office and only leave in the dressing room stuff that I'm not worried about losing and can replace easily, such as lipstick, (cheap) perfume, tampons, etcetera. I get dressed and do my makeup and hair at home 95% of the time prior to coming to work, so I travel pretty light to begin with.
lol I wrote that house moms are waste of space, this was before mine saved my ass last week. I did a VIP and lost my money bag right after. Guess who found it and watched it for me?? Housemom. I will forever be grateful. and she didn't take a dollar.
Of course I tipped her extra.
OMG! ROTFL!
571 x's about the snacks! The poncho catch on fire, etc!
Girl ty, I cracked me the fuck up!
Anyway, the few x's I've dealt w/'em haven't been good.
Last time was I auditioned @a club, she did watch my stuff (I didn't have much, but still).
The one thing that annoyed me, I had on a really cute dress I was gonna strip out of, but the rule was, "U can't dance in the dress U walked in w/"::). Prob. club rule.
Luckily, I had another dress, like it'd HUGELY matter to her, & 1one drunk guy that barely watched me audition!
Anyway, no biggie, not hired so what, lol.
Oh, & I worked [email protected] cramming event, they had some make up chic there, who made it a point to come over by me & tell me about her 'services, even tho I strongly avoided her.
One club had a house mom bathroom attendant. Nice lady but I didn't want to feel pressured into tipping every time I went in the bathroom. I know how to use a bathroom all by myself.
The house mom at our club is a total sweetheart. She always brings a bunch of treats for us and has a very approachable persona. I’ve seen house moms in the past that were too engaged in gossip or trying to hustle you to buy clothes, etc. I think they do a good job, but it’s not cool if they’re engaged in the drama as if we need anymore of that
housemoms of note:
1. one who was nice enough but quiet. managed money envelopes that some girls used. normal housemom stuff. however, because of nepotism her worthless p.o.s son managed a sister club and he was the worst manager ever, so for that...not happy.
2. a beautiful soul who had two daughters dancing in the club. always laughing and having a good time.
sadly was killed by a drunk driver.
3. former dancer from the 70s who could be a hard ass but could also be very funny. I started
suspecting her of small thievery from helping organize stage tips. She was collecting money
for the funeral of the previous house mom I mentioned but because she was being pushy and
I was getting bad vibes about her and money, I insisted on giving it to the daughters who were
there that night. the housemom got really loud and insulted and pushy. come to find out she was
stealing money from girls. I hope to God she wasn't stealing from the funeral fund but the way she
acted....I kinda think she was.
4. a couple who fell into the cool 30 something range. former dancers. overweight or just not into it anymore but FUN.
not into drama. very lighthearted. I don't mind throwing $5 to these.
5. one gay guy housemom was working that bitch vibe too much. Sorry but if you want us to tip you, then act
nice, even if you have to suck it up and pretend.
the slump over the desk is real though. most of the time I look at their carby food and thinking "who is eating that?"
and then I think back to my earlier days and I'm like, oh yeah, baby strippers. baby strippers eat that.
I’ve never worked at a club with a “house mom” but a new club I want to work at apparently has one. Ugh. Do I REALLY have to tip her? What she gonna do if I don’t just shit talk me? I just think the whole job is ridiculous bring your own shit!!
i can just imagine going into the locker room for a little break and have her watching my every move and bitching at me to get back on the floor lol
depends. ask management who you are required to tip and they will either say the housemom or they will say to tip jer IF you use something.
Most clubs I danced at didn't have a house mom. The few that did, it seemed like an added expense at tip out for little real value.
