Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
This goes out to all you models who have public instagram accounts, Twitch streams, YouTube channels, or any other social media presence TOTALLY separate from your cam life... obviously, there's a chance you're going to be discovered by some of your cam clients or people who know your cam ID. How dangerous, in your experience, has this been?
While camming, the only site where I have any personal photos up is on Facebook, but my privacy settings are on maximum so the only thing anyone can see is my profile picture and cover photo. I also have myself only searchable if we have mutual friends. I also use a VPN. I'm not toooo worried about about a cam client/person that recognizes me seeing it, but it has stopped me from sharing photos to reddit before.
Lately though, I've been enjoying TikTok, and idk what to tell you but I just WANT to make content in there. I just like the memes, the community, and I like the idea of making people laugh because I use my sense of humor preciously little these days. I know i could get recognized in a second by anyone who has come across my cam profile/chat room, so I'm not gonna ask what my chances are. But in your opinion, how dangerous is it to have someone know your cam identity come across you elsewhere on the great internet? I go back and forth thinking I'm nuts for even thinking of showing my face on a social media app, and thinking that I'm being extremely paranoid and nothing bad is gonna happen.
I gotta admit, I'm kind of bummed that camming has me refraining from something I think I would enjoy.
Re: Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
Yeah, I know what you're saying, because we are entertainers, as camgirls, even tho, on the adult side. I realised I like to make people laugh on the internet and many members love my blunt sense of humor, non political correct and shit like that. And many are telling me that I should do Youtube or Twitch.
Basically, between us and a twitch streamers, the only difference is that we get naked and perform adult fantasies.
I don't have personal social media account, but what you're thinking about, is something that I have been thinking about as well.
Now, depends how far you want to go with that. If you take it the Kardashian way, this would be a great tool for exposure, because it creates "drama", it atracts haters, but curious people as well. Camming is still taboo and if a Youtube/ Twitch/ Tik Tok entertainer is being exposed, this goes viral and you gain popularity.
It's all up to you how to handle this.
In the best situation, it's good if you just own it and don't give a fuck and be opened and proud of being a camgirl.
The Youtube has started to fill with camgirls, doing "life of a camgirl" type of vlogs and stuff, wich is a good thing, because it helps people become comfortable with this, wich has become such a normal thing to make a living nowadays.
You can create a Tik Tok account with your cam name and just own it, as I said. Or go ahead with your other persona and if you get discovered, just play cool and be like "so what? I didn't know I have to upload my CV on here".
The cooler you feel about it, the less people will harass you. There will always be haters, in fact, look at Cardi B, for example. She brags everywhere that she was a stripper, because that's what made people interested in her. Kim Kardashian knew real fame after she released that sex tape. Jeffree Star was a male escort, he said it himself. Sylvester Stalone was a porn star.
That didn't stop theese people to be respected and loved.
Everything is just in your mind, If you have a big dream, go for it.
If you feel ashamed as a camgirl, then you can't expect people to like you.
You must be cool with you, your past and whatever you do and OWN IT. Then nobody will be able to hurt you. Because you don't give a shit. Because that's your life. You're adult and you don't do anything illegal. There are mobsters there, drug dealers, politicians who make "blood money" (money made from pimping women, selling drungs, stealing from people's taxes), while you just please yourself in front of the webcam. You're ok.
It's not easy to expose yourself, or be exposed, but this comes with fame, no matter who you are.
Try to make sure there are as little recordings as possible with your explicit cam shows and that's it, it's not cool to have them put in your face, but hey! you were there, making a living when nobody was there to help you. Fuck em.
After all of thiiiiis monologue, there's only one conclusion: You do whatever you ass wants, in this life. If you're mentally ready to assume and be prepared, that you'd be exposed at some point, then go for it and do what you like!
I'm coming from behind, when I'll get tired of camming ahaha :)))
Re: Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
Not a chance, don't even try it as you definitely will have those accounts linked up at some point, people suggested to each other etc. I have a personal facebook which is totally locked down, no face pictures at all. Then my work socials are only ever accessed on a seperate 'work' phone.
However you do have to understand it's more likely than not that one day you WILL be found out. So with that in mind is it worth keeping off things you might enjoy? For me it is, but you have to decide that for yourself.
Re: Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
I've been running social for vanilla and adult simultaneously for years. I never use the same photos and I try not to use the same devices for posting. I know some claim to have issues with apps outing them via suggestions but I personally have never had that issue. At this point I don't really care if it does..I use to, but not now.
These days I probably use social media more for my mainstream stuff than I do for adult. And this is after years of putting myself "out there". It's not as dangerous as you think. There will be some crossover if you grow a dedicated following. If you're well known in adult then naybe those same guys may be drawn to you in the vanilla world on social media. I think it just depends on how you describe yourself, location, interest etc. That sort of data determines how you appear in searches.
I actually used my adult followers to help give me a boost on gaming platforms although I do use a different name. Overall they've been extremely supportive and useful. I just decided to stop worrying about the what ifs and started having fun. I even went to TwitchCon this year. IME the biggest obstacle has been with being welcomed by other vanilla female streamers. They love listening to Cardio B and getting loose on Twitter, but actually hate Sexworkers when we step foot on their territory. Occasionally some guy may show up to say something stupid but that happens no matter what when you're operating online. I'm careful but not paranoid to the point where I feel like all hope is lost and I feel like I have to hide because this is my life now.
Re: Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
If I would not be camming I think I would be doing twitch hahaha. Playin Call of Duty or something hahaha ! The girls gave you great answers, you have to do a list : benefits vs risks ! No great succesfull person got it easy, they failed, they cried, the stumbled accross hardships. And no succes ever came without risks. Us cam girls take the risk of beeing on the internet forever (private videos) for the benefits of a good life LOL.
Re: Having a visible social media presence separate from your cam identity.
The only vanilla profile I have is FB and I’m not searchable. Which I used to be paranoid about it because I utilize it for friends/family, sharing pics, etc and I do have children. My kids are now older and even though my profile isn’t searchable I still reserve some of the things I share such as family members and what not. There is always going to be that risk. Although I have never been recognized, (these ladies provide great tips), I keep in mind that it will always be a possibility and take precautions. I don’t care so much about being outed as much as I do the safety aspect, especially with a family.
