Do you bring your cell phone with you when you dance? And how does payments work?
Hello! I'm planning on auditioning to clubs and I'm almost ready but i have some concerns. This site is super helpful, but there are two things i had trouble finding info on.
1. Besides your money bag, what do you bring out on the floor with you? I was planning on keeping my cell phone in my money bag, is that weird? Do you usually keep it in your locker?
2. Where do you put your money bag while you give dances? I'm paranoid of losing it or it getting stolen
3. When do you pay the house fee? Before or after your shift?
4. At the end of your shift, what else do you pay the club? Are you supposed to tell them how much you made? Do they report my totals to the IRS?
Thanks for your help!!

I bring my phone out and keep it in my money bag. I find it helps me to keep a better eye on my money bag since I'm super attached to my phone, but that's me. If this isn't something you are comfortable with I would just leave your phone in your locker.

This one could vary; my club has a special section with chairs for lap dances as we are not allowed to do them on the floor. The section is rather small and you can see who is coming in/out easily. I set mine down right by the chair that the person I'm giving a dance to is in; no one can possibly steal it without me seeing/hearing and raising hell. Other ladies who do dances on the floor might have a better idea of what you should do if you don't have a section like this.

I believe this will also vary by club, but for me it's after the shift.

No, you don't report your earnings to the club; All tax deductions have to be done by you personally or you risk getting slammed by the IRS for tax evasion. I believe there is a thread on this site that talks about how that works in more detail. Also, other than the house fee, most if not all clubs have a required tip out you are to pay to certain other employees of the club such as the DJ, Bouncers, House mom, etc.
All this said, I'm also a baby stripper so my answers may not be the best guide; this is just what I know from the few shifts I've worked so far. :)

I bring my phone out with me. No it's not weird, almost all the girls do it at my clubs. I did keep it in my locker sometimes at one point though.
2. Where do you put your money bag while you give dances? I'm paranoid of losing it or it getting stolen
It goes on the couch with me, or on the little table things attached to the couches, etc. On the stage I leave it right on the edge (or I take it up and put it in the middle of the stage, along with the other girl's bag, when there are 2 of us up there). I have never *knock on wood* had anyone try to steal it.
I often use my bag to cover up my cocktails if I have one - I bring the drink to the stage edge as well & then the bag on top of the glass makes it a little more difficult/obvious in case anyone were to ever try to 'drive by' drug me or something.
3. When do you pay the house fee? Before or after your shift?
Depends on club policy. At one club I pay before as they give you $10 off. At the other I pay at the end.
4. At the end of your shift, what else do you pay the club? Are you supposed to tell them how much you made? Do they report my totals to the IRS?
You tip out DJ/bouncers if you're supposed to, directly to them usually. I NEVER tell anyone how much I made. It only leads to staff expecting higher tips and other drama. If you signed a contract to be an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, so the club does not report anything to the IRS.
While I would wager that most people in cash based industries are at least a bit 'light' on reporting their incomes, you really should claim a reasonable amount. Keep track of what you make, or at the minimum what you deposit into bank accounts, and set aside 20-30% to pay Uncle Sam. They give you a grace year as an IC basically - if you're short what you owe, you can get the penalties waived - but you don't want to be facing a massive tax bill with nothing at all set aside for it.
Thanks for your help!!
Good luck!
Re: Do you bring your cell phone with you when you dance? And how does payments work?
I usually keep my phone in my locker, most girls I see carry their phone with them. I just don't want to be distracted while at work
money bag: I get a purse that wraps around my wrists and keep in on me unless in the VIP: then I either hide it or keep it visible at all times
every 300$-500$ I make I go and lock it in my locker so I'm not carrying around a lot of cash in case I do forget it.
every club is different on who you tip out
clubs don't need to know how much money you make at least all the ones I worked at
house fees are paid up front from my experience
hope this helps :)
Re: Do you bring your cell phone with you when you dance? And how does payments work?
1. I do bring my phone out on the floor with me. We’re allowed to use our phones on the floor at my club so I’ll use it during slow times. At my other club we had a no phones on the floor policy
2. I put my money bag either on the table right next to me or on the ground hidden when I’m giving dances so other people can’t walk by and grab it if I’m not looking
3. We have to pay our house fee when we sign in
4. At my club we have to tip out 10% of your earnings at the end of the night to security and the DJ. Even though I’m in CA luckily I found a club that won’t be switching to employee status so everything is still ‘under the table’ and won’t be reported to the IRS
