The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
I’m a ‘veteran’ stripper in the Tri State and like so many across the country (& around the world) my club is closed for whoever knows how long! So my fellow entertainers with all the unforeseen circumstances thus far and to come I’m hoping this thread will be a Supportive place to discuss. Our business is a bit fringe of society in many different ways. As independent contractors we are left up to ourselves when the shit hits the fan. :O:O I’ll start by saying I am okay myself so far. I’ve worked through September 11th, the 2008 recession, Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Sandy, and now this pandemic. It’s a different circumstance because I’m not working, but I see it as similarly challenging. Right now I’m comfortable with my savings & my income property which I’m so freakin lucky to have. However I can completely sympathize with Entertainers caught off guard because if this bs happened prior to 2017 I would be scared as hell and shit out of luck. So you won’t be getting judging bs comments from me. I was for a long time in my first years of dancing a free spirit vacationing and living “lap dance to lap dance” (or champagne room to champagne room lol!) for a long timer before I got myself together. I’ll say I’m fearful of the uncertainty of the time forced to be off like many people not just strippers. I’m fearful of the future economic impact resulting from it and affecting my money! I m fearful of the damn virus itself! I’m not one to ever have taken good health for granted. I always cheers to good health wishes & thanking god for my pussy and enabling to make that money. I’m also trying to on certain times of the month be positive like look it’s the break you always wanted to take but never got to do! A time to reset the mind, cut free of the competitive work environment & destress. So feel to vent, tell anyone what your doing, how your dealing etc....

Love this we need to support one another because society could care less about us. This job is already so isolating. No judgment at all. We need to do what we can to help each other out as much as we can.

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
Thank you for starting this. It's nice to hear from someone who's gone through the ups and downs of the economy and other life changing events. I am curious to see how all this plays out and the type of money we'll be making once we get back to schedule, but I'm trying to remain optimistic. I've only been dancing for 4 years but I'm guessing and praying that there will still be good money in this business as there always has been. I love dancing and I wanted this year to be the year I travelled to other states. Maybe it's still possible? Time will tell.. I was actually in Texas and had to fly back home because of all the panic. By then the clubs were dead anyways. It kind of feels like a nightmare I can't wake up from but then again the break is nice. It's just the uncertainty of how it'll be after that's killing me. Thankfully I have savings. Debating on if I should invest as well. Anyhow, I hope everyone will be ok!

Is there anyway to get some type of donation going? Swop is doing something for street based sex workers in Seattle. I’m thinking churches would be likely to help

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
Thanks for starting this! I'm in LA where we have all non essential businesses closed.
Today is Day 1 and I woke up at 8 AM to no less than 2 of my neighbors were mowing their lawn. My seasonal allergies went nuts. Not pleased.

No, now is not the time to invest unless you have A LOT of money saved. While stock prices are low, its good to invest but right now you should try to hold onto your cash. However, flights are extremely low maybe you can get a few flights now for 6-8 months in the future, make sure they are refundable flights though.

This is what I'm doing. Most of the airlines are doing "no change fee" specials if you book before April 15-30. You'd just have to pay the fare difference.

I would just like to emphasize that the relief bill passed this Friday includes independent contractors! They too will receive the weekly $600 on top of state unemployment benefits. I’ve never filed, but I would assume it goes off your taxes for the previous quarter or year? But regardless, you would still receive the $600 also, which might be helpful!

Our state weekly benefits go off 5 quarters and they pick the highest earning quarter. They have access to look up your employers because your employers are supposed to be withholding your state taxes, so they know what you were paid.
Despite having a 'straight' job for 6 months now, I didn't qualify to get anything because they used 5 quarters from when I was dancing full time :/

Welp, there's Corona Virus in my building. The management company did not even have the decency to put up signs or send emails. The doormen told us after the wife of the infected came and told them. He lives with his wife and kids so they will definitely get it and probably the whole building. NYC is going down FAST. God help us all.

So sorry to hear that please stay safe. Wear a mask or cover your face anytime you leave your apartment. Wear gloves too if you can.

My 80 bulk toilet paper roll shipment from amazon finally arrived. Purchased the last bulk one I could find and I searched all over online for hours. I was nervous I wouldn't make it ( had my moms fiance buy me tp at one point since he's considered a senior and gets in the stores early and i was very close to out) due to a shipment delay. Now I feel comfortable. It's cheap ass thin TP that you would find in a public bathroom but I'm not complaining right now. It could be worse. Grateful!

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
Yeah I only leave once a day to walk my dog and I go out between 12-3am when nobody else is out. I have an N95 mask I wear and I touch the elevator buttons with a clorox wipe. When I come back in, I strip at the door and put all my clothes jacket and shoes in a basket which stays at the door. I wipe my dogs paws and I wash her once a week. If ima get it, ima get it but its not for lack of trying. Thanks guys. Because of this I lost my nannying job in the building, can't say I blame them. I'm getting 0 calls on niteflirt and I'm waiting on my cam to go on Streammate but I'm even reading on the SM thread that its dead! I'm still selling pics and videos to my customers though, at least.

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
I’m worried how the economy and people with money to spend at the club will be affected when all this passes over...
I was too young to remember the 2008 recession so I’ve never actually experienced one
What do y’all think?

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
Well, if all their money is in the stock exchange or they own restaurants, it won't be good. Also, the people who have been laid off for god knows how long won't be spending either but the people who kept getting a pay check and worked from home are probably going to be dying to go out.

Well wishes to you in NYC.

I can't believe you did not get a formal email. This happened to my friend at the market he works at. He works for a supplier of the store( every day) but they only chose to let the market staff know.

People always love bars and entertainment. Now coming back to work is gonna be like the hunger games. Lol. You know there's gonna be some super cut throaty shit going around. Like a pack of hyenas. It was getting cut throat weeks before the shut down, imagine after. Good Lord. :O

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
I predict a mixed bag. Either guys will be broke and the clubs will be overcrowded with girls.
Or with:
Grief of losing someone personally (especially a parent)
Men who don’t already have someone, facing tougher situations for dating
Men who do have someone, likely facing upcoming divorces
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/25/coro...isolation.html
And the general frustration of being confined home...
There will be plenty of money to be made just because the sheer amount of loneliness will be at an all-time high. Bonus if female customers are driven out because of lingering health concerns. (Don’t dislike them 100% but closing the sale gets so much harder when men feel self-conscious buying dances in front of them)
Hoping it’s the latter for most of us. But we shall see.

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
I was a dancer during pre and post the 2008 recession...there was a distinct difference in my earnings..it wasn't as easy post 2008 and it really accelerated my feelings of burnout personally...I eventually ended hanging up the heels in 2011...not to say there weren't girls still making money because there were...its just the hustle became more draining , I noticed the quality of dancers went down, less guys, guys expecting more ..ect...I'm not trying to discourage anyone the business will. Survive because it caters to a primitive desire but I think it will only really be worth it for the girls who can seamlessly adapt to any restructuring.

Re: The ‘Try to Keep Your Shit Together’ During Corona Post
London, UK is in complete lock down as you all probably know.
The clubs in London all shut a few weeks ago.
If your a dancer who hasn't filled in a tax self assessment form in recent years, then it might be Universal Credit. If you're lucky.
Tough times ahead.

RIGHT?
I think I'll stay out of the club for a bit after things reopen, unless I get a regular to come in. I can't imagine how aggressive all these girls will be the first few weeks back and I'm sure it'll be almost the entire roster showing up. Noooo thank you to that mess!

Plus guys will be tight on money. The lower end ones will have been out of work and the higher end ones have all their money tied up in the now fucked stock market. They're already complaining via text when I try to sell them nudes...sometimes for as little as $100 lol.
