Yes, us, in NYC. Pray for us. :'(

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
Yeah its like 1300 dead in New York.
-
Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I knew that would happen in NYC. I left early. I wouldn't have been a help to be there so it's better I'm out here.
-
Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I'm in New Orleans and it's bad.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
My anxiety would have been through the roof if I were in NY. Hopefully there is a limit to this and it doesn’t continue to peak out if control.
I already told my crazy family members that if the numbers here reach New York numbers then I’m out of here.
At this rate we only have a couple of counties in the state with zero cases.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
Michigan and it's awful here. I've already lost one relative to it, have one currently hospitalized and on a ventilator because of it, and 2 more relatives who have mild cases of it.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I noticed Ca isn't on the list..... I thought we were 3rd on the states with most cases? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
Anyhow, I read an article today that said the south would be getting hit really hard with this virus due to things like not enough "quality" doctors & obesity(hypertension), cancer, etc. I am not even trying to go there right now bc I seem to always get sick due to the humidity & allergies whenever I'm over there which gives me hardcore respitory issues so I'm staying out west in the nicer weather until this thing blows over.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
AZ isn't on the list but I think we might be in for a harder hit. They aren't testing worth a shit - you have to be immunocompromised or elderly to get one - so I'm sure there's tons of cases walking around, or even dying and being called pneumonia or something else.
Our governor is a bumbling idiot. He put us on 'stay at home' orders & non-essential business closure 2 days ago but his list of essential businesses includes pretty much everything ::) There's also speculation that he doesn't want testing just to keep the numbers down. Our emergency management director resigned to avoid being associated with this, since he wasn't listening to her at all, which is not a good sign...

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I'm resigned to the fact that I may get it, that people I know will get it, and I may know people who die of it. It's just become our reality in NYC. I'm no longer anxious about it, just cautious when I walk my dog once per day (at night-ten mins).

Our county is seeing exponential growth of it. We went from 4 cases a couple weeks ago to like 400+ now. Then the mayor has the gall to blame people from neighboring states. I’m like bruh! Do what FL did and set up checkpoints on the interstate.

I wish I could give you more, but here's some e-hugs and positive energy from a stranger in Va:
hughughughughughughughughug!

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
In Virginia we seem to be holding it steady.
I have lots of family in NY, and family-by-blood in California. And I'm terrified for them all.
Stay home as much as you can, wash your hands, stay as safe as possible wherever y'all are!
Hang in there.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I'm still amazed that there haven't been more cases in Key West (that we know of). Soo many foreign visitors and tourists here.
Though again a lot of us (from mmy club especially) think we might have had it in January.

You know, this's my take on it..
Much sympathy & prayers to all suffering, & those sadly gone.
Like I said to my friend yesterday, either I get it or I don't! Last year, & possibly currently I faced a cancer scare.
I'm in IL btw.
Best to all.

One of my friends' client moved to FL to retire and she told her she was pissed that a lot of NYers went there to quarantine. She has her eyes on every NY state car, ready to call the police. Lol.
This whole thing sucks. Can't wait til it's over.
My sister got it and she's gonna donate blood. She beat it at home, and miraculously(thank God, knock on wood), did not get my parents sick.
I got sick in February with shortness of breath, and I wonder if I caught it too... who knows :O
P.S. I heard there is a certain blood type that doesn't get it as bad. I haven't read up on that yet.

Oh that’s so good she didn’t infect your parents! Great, now they’ll get her antibodies. Yes, it’s O+ (my blood type yay) and also females get it less than males. Double double.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
I'm at the point of "bitch buckle up this is going to happen." I sneezed in late March and thought...."girl this is the end." LOL. I'm fine and still worried.

Yup. They're stopping them at the border now and enforcing the 14 day self quarantine. This also applies to NJ, CT and LA residents.

As scary as it looks, so far less than 2% of people living in NYC have been confirmed to have the virus. As long as you stay inside as much as possible and practice social distancing when you go outside, and if anyone is living with you, they do the same, there's still a good chance you'll be able to avoid it. Just take as many precautions as possible. Wash your hands frequently and disinfect things that you touch frequently, including your phone. That's what I've been trying to do. Just going to the store for food can be a scary experience, but I'm trying hard to not dwell on what could possibly happen.

Me and my mom have O too, but I don't remember which one.

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
My pet theory is women have more fat reserves (Nature designed women to have more fatty tissue) and so when the body is fighting those sorts of serious infections, the body burns up those reserves for energy.
IMO places with serious population density are gonna have high death tolls. Who is willing to bet that mainland China has already had some major disease outbreaks that they covered up in the past couple decades, and COVID 19 happens to be the first virus that spread rapidly due to its hardiness/ability to travel well on planes?

Re: States Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Pandemic
My mom has Type O blood she said the other day but she didn't remember what kind I have. I looked on birth certificate & it wasn't on there. I would've thought CA was hit hardest but it's not on any list I've seen yet.
