CA Ladies- Just a few anecdotes and updates on AB5
Hey everyone! I've aggregated news and things posted on Twitter to give you a heads up.
CA flipped a house seat for the first time in 20 years when Mark Garcia won district 25. His opponent was an ardent supporter of AB5 so thank you to the voters of #25 for the big win!
Lorena Gonzalez's "cleanup" bill #1850 (to exempt musicians from AB5) passed. Unfortunately, it wasn't really a 'win' as there are still many restrictions on the musicians (it might as well still diss anyone who isn't a union musician). BUT, I think AB5 is something we have to chip away at, and chip away we shall do.
Uber/Lyft/Doordash's "Protect App based Drivers and Services" reached 1 million signatures and will be on the ballot in November. The proof is in the pudding- the delivery platform 'Deliv' folded under the extra costs of AB5. Please Vote YES for the drivers (and chip away at AB5).
Lorena Gonzalez and her minions are pissed that it made the ballot. It's pretty entertaining if you head over to her Twitter to look around. Lol
AB2389 died. No licenses,no registration! Woohoo!
Re: CA Ladies- Just a few anecdotes and updates on AB5
Thanks for this information.
Im in a facebook group called “freelancers against ab5 “ and its an awesome source to find updates on this law and meet other people who are actively doing things to get rid of this law that is doing nothing lorena claims its doing.
Its super useful for people who actually vote bc idk how many times ive voted and had no idea what i even voted for But from there ive learned the names of things to vote no.
There are A LOT of people working to get this repealed and still to this day strippers arent being taken seriously by anyone in power but if we inform ourselves we can fight this too.
