How soon we forget. Who fumbled and bumbled with H1N1 ? Obama and the guy he put in charge of dealing with it. BIDEN !
Trump didn't ignore the pandemic. He WAS slow to react to it. He DID get some terrible advice from Fauci et.al. Go back and review Fauci's statements about Covid from late January , 2020 through the Summer. His pronouncements seemed to change with the weather. Who is responsible for the vaccines we have now ? Trump.
As late as yesterday he is still poo pooing hydroxychloroquine as a treatment fir Covid. Which flies in the face of hundreds of thousands of successfully treated patients worldwide.

The fumbling and bumbling that killed 3% as many Americans as COVID-19? And accounted for at most 8% worldwide deaths from H1N1 as opposed to 20% for COVID-19? America First!

Not Trump, BioNTech (whose research was funded by Germany, not Operation Warp Speed).
Dan Primack: Pfizer didn’t take Operation Warp Speed money for the development of this vaccine. Just from a fiduciary standpoint, why not? It was kind of free money, or were there major strings attached from your perspective?
Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer: There was free money, but always I think that there's never free lunch. When you take money from someone, there are always strings attached. But it was not an easy decision from a fiduciary point of view because the level of investment eventually is approaching or will exceed the $2 billion eventually. But the reason why I did that was because I wanted to liberate our scientists [from] any bureaucracy that comes with having to give reports and agree how we are going to spend the money in parallel or together, etc.

There was a LOT more to Operation Warp Speed than just money. The vaccines were put on streamlined fast tracks for approval. Approvals that usually took five years or more were done in months.

Let's get it all clear and in the open. When you type "Who is responsible for the vaccines we have now ? Trump," what you mean is "He didn't contribute to BioNTech's research and development and he didn't contribute to BioNTech's funding, but he may have fast tracked vaccine approvals that would normally take longer." And you seriously want try to tell us he's responsible?

Without the fast tracking I doubt we would have any vaccines at present.

This is not equivalent to "Who is responsible for the vaccines we have now ? Trump," and you know it. You're being intentionally obtuse again.
"Without biotechnology companies, we would not have any vaccines at present. But let's tell people that Trump is responsible."

You are deliberately confusing two different things to try and make some sort of point.
Trump did not develop the vaccines. Who ever said he did ? He DID see to it that testing and approval of those vaccines was fast tracked.

No, not at all. But you are intentionally misleading people by conflating an alleged small contribution to responsibility:

This is ignoring the facts that Pfizer filed for emergency use authorization and that the approval is done by the FDA, not Trump himself. And it was weeks (late November to mid December) for a process that takes months (not "five years or more").

Re: They Protesting n Shit
Just a heads up everyone, I've allowed way more political discussions and threads and posts than we are supposed to. It was such a traumatic couple years, and especially the last 8-9 months, and it seemed good to let people vent.
And maybe even learn from each other :rotfl:
He sorry couldn't resist.
Anyway going to have to start closing political threads etc, now.
I tend to close political threads that have a lot of reported posts first.

I agree. It's all over, anyway. So, no point anymore. I don't even think they are protesting anymore.

Re: They Protesting n Shit
Close the Trump posts but leave this one open. The Trump posts are ancient and useless, but this one is a bit better (though I haven't seen a real BLM protest in quite a while, just me though). We all want to see equivalency in everyone, and that is BLM's goal.
But all those Trump posts are old, irrelevant, and matter not now. He's out of office so who cares.
-
Re: They Protesting n Shit
Djoser, you should go back to the old policy of not allowing political posts, but this one is about social justice and that's a different thing. Just me, though.

"Social justice " is not political ? It doesn't have a political element ?

Re: They Protesting n Shit
Sometimes, but not always. Far less political than directly talking about a defeated President.

Problem is that more than half of the cops charged who raised the "taser mistake" defense have been acquitted.
Still it is no excuse to riot , burn and loot.

Re: They Protesting n Shit
Have you watched the footage? She's there saying "I'll tase you, i'll tase you" and then "OH FUCK I JUST SHOT HIM."
We'll have to see what goes down, but Eric is correct. A 25 year veteran should know better. This was a 20 year old kid, and she had backup there. It takes an idiot to pull your gun when you meant to use your Taser. At the very least she shouldn't be a cop anymore.

Re: They Protesting n Shit
As a sex worker I’ve experienced abuse from the police. I think most sex workers can have sympathy for POC being abused by the police. I remember leaving the club and getting pulled over on a regular basis. That pales in comparison to the fear of getting murdered.
My heart goes out to POC.

^We'll see. All it takes is one Juror to hang a Jury. I think Manslaughter is the most likely charge he'll be convicted of. Though i really believe it should be Third degree Murder.
Maxine Waters didn't fucking help anything, though, with her idiot comments. I mean, I like Maxine and all, but those dipshit comments didn't help the prosecution one bit! The Judge even said so! You can't go on record like that when a Jury is deliberating. Not if you want a conviction. Zip your fucking trap!
