Pain in breast implant years after surgery?
Has anyone had pain around their implant years after surgery? It's the left implant and the pain has been lasting since this morning. My boobs look and feel normal so I don't think it's capsular contracture. I took Aleve earlier and it helped, but I can feel it wearing off. Heating pad helps too. I'm hoping I just pulled a muscle somehow and didn't initially realize it. Has anyone else experienced something similar, and what did it turn out to be?
With all the stories about breast implant illness that are emerging, I kind of feel neurotic about them sometimes.

Try not to panic and let a physician examine you.
Re: Pain in breast implant years after surgery?
What kind of pain is it? Burning? Stinging? Aching? How far around your implant is the pain and if it's not all the way around it what part is it around? Also what kind of implants do you have, saline or silicone?
Re: Pain in breast implant years after surgery?
I have most def. had pain in one or the other, which turned out to be muscular pull, muscular stress, whatever. I hear you. It remember my mind going directly to the implant. But then hours later, realizing it was muscular. I believe it also happened one time after I laid on my side for a long time in bed. I remember each time the pain never lasted more than a half-day or a day at the most. So yeah, if it persists, don't panic but maybe see dr.

Hm. I've not heard anything about that. Going to do some googling now. The one thing that I have found...interesting, is how they don't warranty them after 10 years. Which almost makes you want to get them replaced after ten years.

It's occasionally like a burning pain, with dull aching if I do too much upper body movement. It's only on the upper half of my boob, and I have silicone implants.

I'm hoping that's what it is! Maybe I pulled a muscle doing housework, and I have been stressed with a ton of anxiety lately. My anxiety can manifest itself as chest pains, so maybe the muscles around my implant are tight due to stress? I'm going to call my PS in the morning and see how long I should give it before going in and having him check it out.
Yeah, I try not to freak myself out too much by going too far down the Google rabbit hole. There are so many variables when it comes to breast implants and all of the possibilities.
Re: Pain in breast implant years after surgery?
Update: Thank you everyone for answering and putting my mind at ease! The pain is gone! I was stacking/lifting ceramic pots and doing some intense housework the day before I had the pain, so I'm guessing I strained a muscle. If the pain comes back, I will make an appt with my PS to examine me and make sure I don't have capsular contracture or a silent rupture.

If you had ruptured silicone I think you would be in a lot more pain and very swollen.

Sounds reasonable!
Most of my clients have implants and I get questioned regularly regarding issues like this. I always recommends them to talk to their PS, but nearly all issues are related to physical activities and are not subject for any correctional medical procedures.
