I usually get a tax refund every year. How will that work with months of unemployment?
A tax refund means you over paid during the year. If your withholding is correct, then you won't get a tax refund. But, you have had more money all year long. As far as being on UI for a part of the year, if your UI benefits have tax withholding that exceeds your taxes due, you will get a refund. If they are properly withheld, you won't. If you are under withheld, you will owe taxes. The only way to tell is calculate your taxes. I personally aim for owing just a little every year.
