Re: Man steals burglars car
Depends, does he wake me up? If so, grab my pistol and shoot the Motherfucker. It's right by my bed! I got my Mom and often my Daughter here. I'm not going to risk their lives. How do I know this guy isn't some Rapist or Serial Killer or something. Fuck that, he gets blown away.

Not everyone has a weapon though. I feel for those who are terrified having nothing to protect themselves and don't gun laws/usage depend on state? Remember hearing a burglar winning a lawsuit over the house owner SHOCKINGLY.. The balls to do that in such a scary situation.
Plus he was in his basement. Not everyone has a gun on hand 24/7
Re: Man steals burglars car
Well, I do. If you have to just call the cops, but it'll take them a bit to get there. Buy yourself a Gun.

Re: Man steals burglars car
Probably, it'll most likely be your local state site. Just do a search. And hit the gun range, the gun's no use if you can't hit anything with it. At the gun range, you'll learn.
Plus, remember, this is strictly for self defense. Never for attack.
Remember, it takes the Cops minutes to get there (And if it took an hour in downtown LA, you might have really wished you had a Gun). A lot can happen in just a few minutes. Best to be able to protect yourself. But it is a Gun and it can kill people, so handle it responsibly.

Used to do paintball with people in the army but when you're in a panic you want something easy if you're mid-sleep.
I remember seeing those handguns or something with those sniper types with the red lights for an easy aim.
An easy aim is perfect during something scary not being LE.
Re: Man steals burglars car
Oh, the Laser pointers? They look good on TV but in real life they're not of much use. Usually in real life you don't have much time to aim. It's just point and shoot. Go to the gun range. It's even fun!

I would probably choose this one: Beretta USA – PX4 Storm Compact Handgun. Looks nice, low recoil. Definitely a nice Gun for a Woman.
Plus it's 9mm, and you can get those easily.

Hmmm maybe it's time to go to the gun range just to test things out. Do they sell guns there to test? Never shot a real one.
Re: Man steals burglars car
Hopefully you never have to use it, but, as they say, it's better to have and not need, than need and not have.

Um, dunno, I always had my own. Maybe? But I really don't know. It's just not something I have ever encountered.
Re: Man steals burglars car
Ranges near me have rental guns so you can see what feels right. Never overlook the simple revolver, pick it up in middle of night and just point and pull the trigger. No worrying about safety, racking slide, or accidentally releasing the magazine while in a stressful situation.
Re: Man steals burglars car
Also consider US Law Shield, they have free 2A seminars about 'When can I shoot' and also legal advice and insurance for that situation we all hope never happens.

Interesting! I just wanna be safe instead of that next person on some crime show dead with the family speaking. LOL

Yeah you're right, but the problem is that if you don't hit them you are fumbling around with bullets trying to get them into the Gun, and in a panic. I use an auto, that way I can just slap a new clip in it. I have never accidentally released the Magazine. But whatever, it's up to her.
Re: Man steals burglars car
With a revolver you need a couple of speed loaders.

Re: Man steals burglars car
It's an ongoing debate, most self defense encounters are over in a few well placed shots. Not all, hence the need for more provided by a gun with a clip.
OP, you may find this helpful:
https://www.nrafamily.org/articles/2...-vs-revolvers/
If you are in CA, there may be a limit to 12 shots so that's another consideration, at least as far as caliber - some will pick a larger caliber, like 10mm or 45 cal, since the handgrip will be close to that of 15 rounds.
Also don't limit yourself to just one, think of it as your first, LOL

Sure, but she's gonna have to well place those shots. This means the Range.
The problem is that most of this shit happens at night, when it's dark, so she might not hit the guy. She just needs to hit the Gun Range often, whatever Gun she gets. Maybe take a class or something. I agree with you, mostly. It's just that, to me, Revolvers are 1930's technology. I don't wanna trust my life to shit that's that far behind.
Plus, she needs to learn Gun safety, as well. It's no good if you wind up shooting yourself.
I know a dude that literally SLEEPS with his gun on his chest, I think that's pretty stupid. Put it on the coffee table, dude.
Re: Man steals burglars car
BTW, you don't want a Desert Eagle, those things are 50 caliber, it'll smack you in the face when you fire it. HIGH recoil. Gotta be Arnold Schwarzenegger to haul one of those around. Go smaller. It's still a Gun, it'll put the dude down, just aim for center mass.
Not only that, you're gonna pay an arm and a leg for ammo. Stick with 9mm.

There are ranges/gunshops where you can both rent and buy firearms, and that have certified instructors on the premises. If you search you can find a lot of information on the internet, and it would be a good idea to watch some videos before you even go to the range/instructor.

And you have to buy a pack mule to carry it.
Re: Man steals burglars car
That's pretty damn funny.

Two in the heart, one in the head. He will not get back up.
Re: Man steals burglars car
OH, one thing I forgot. If you have a kid, you need to keep it up high. You need to be able to jump up and grab it but you don't want the kid getting his/her hands on it. Remember, it's a GUN, they can kill themselves with it. Basic Gun safety.
