Re: Coronavirus variations
Yes, I saw that.
One thing I would advise is if you can, get the antibody test. I did and I do have the antibodies so that at least provides some immunity.
Re: Coronavirus variations
Now they are telling people to wear 2 masks, it is insanity.
Re: Coronavirus variations
I barely want to wear one LOL.
Re: Coronavirus variations
My employer’s paying for COVID tests for all employees of all his enterprises who don’t work from home... weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your specific work environment and how exposed to others you are. So, we did the cheek swab, now they switched over to the nasal swab. I don’t really see a return to normal anytime soon.
Re: Coronavirus variations
I think masking and regular testing might become the new normal. I don’t like anti maskers, but I can empathize with not wanting to accept the new reality. I don’t want to accept this reality either!
Anyone with a basic understanding of microbiology can understand that it’s going to be a cat and mouse game.I do think eventually they will get it to endemic levels-where it exist in the population at a manageable level. Being able to eradicate it like we did small pox will take at least a few years.
The hope of a vaccine and thinking we could go back to normal is what was sustaining me for almost the last year! Now I’m feeling a lot of grief of not being able to go back to normal anytime soon. I mean I’m a survivor. I’ll accept it and persevere. It’s just sad!

Nobody wants to accept the reality, but the anti-maskers aren’t simply people blinded by denial - they’re outright malicious.

I was kinda kidding about the masks, but not wearing a mask in public is like not wearing a condom-no one likes condoms, but they are a necessary evil.

What a bummer. I wonder if we’ll have to wear masks forever. This is just crazy. I know they will have booster shots. Looks like we now have a reason to find the cure for the “common cold” .I think we need more than vaccines. We need to develop therapeutics to boost the immune system. We need something the will stimulate the immune system to kill any cell that’s infected. The vaccines only do so much until the viruses mutates. When need immune system boosters at this point otherwise this will just be a game of cat and mouse for years to come. I really thought the vaccine would solve everything! It did with small pox, but small pox apparently doesn’t mutate as fast.
Damn it!
My heart goes out to anyone who lost anyone to coronavirus.
Re: Coronavirus variations
Yeah, I really think it'll be like the flu shot that we have to take it every year and even that doesn't cover you as theres strains that don't cover it. Awful.
Re: Coronavirus variations
Yep hearing about the variants of covid on the news I thought "here we go!"

Hopefully like most things in life it will become a manageable risk. For example, HIV is a manageable risk with condoms. Hopefully with vaccines it will become a manageable risk instead of a daily threat.
Honestly there’s a lot of microbes that are becoming problematic with antibiotics resistance and spillover. I think it’s wise just to be smart and not afraid because there’s a lot of scary shit out there when you think about it. Also, I can’t control coronavirus other than being as safe as possible. Again, I’m wondering if masks will be just like wearing shoes when you leave the house?
I know many members have personally had coronavirus or have had family members with it and I’m not trying to minimize anyone’s suffering. Every loss from coronavirus is a tragedy. I wish no one ever got sick.
