I read everything on twitter. Personally, I think he should be made an example of. He didn't leave one review, he left several one week apart on multiple platforms. He was mad because he spent $200 USD on a room and they wanted to charge him a corkage fee (which is not unheard of) and they actually relented and didn't charge him. Negative reviews (many are petty) can damage a business with swiftness.
Yea, you know reading especially what he wrote, (mentioning slavery & covid), not cool.
People need to learn to behave in foreign countries!
Awhile back UK tourist went in a Thai 'hostess club', they're known add more charges, he decided to argue /dispute, he threw a punch, they Muay Thai'd him, now he's dead.
^ Thailand is serious about defamation. I've spent some time there and this is definitely cultural too. You don't just " get irritated " and then write a bunch of online ranting. They are serious about protecting reputations . There are also other ways to go about it ( there is a specific section of police for tourists issues ).
I'm not surprised they let him have the free corkage. Thai people are overall very gracious . He was a total whiner and they were still kind to him . ;/
I'm a business owner who has had a few horrible people ( thankfully just a few in 15 years of ownership ). I feel like defamation laws should be taken more seriously here in the USA!
