I was wondering the exact same thing when all of this surfaced. I thought I'd heard somewhere that it was she that actually broke his heart?

Hey I dig the last line on your signature. Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians. Fun. I just noticed it.
Anyway, anyone can have a mental illness (Which is usually why a Woman reports fake abuse, or fake rape claims. There was one Woman that reported being raped by every gang member in the city of Los Angeles, she was batshit crazy), they don't usually do it if they got their shit together. Evan Rachel Wood seems to have it all together. So there's no reason to disbelieve her.

It’s hard to think someone is stable when you see a photo like this versus wholesome ERW.
maybe that’s a rude thing for me to say but I dunno it’s like he wore who he is on the interior on his exterior lol!
Yipes!:yikes:^
Yess this 10000000. I have been abused myself by the hands of a romantic partner in the past and I will not defend his (alleged) acts of abuse. If it is true, it is horrible. However, I was not there so I don't have the truth. I dont think we have to cancel an artist based on one side of the story. So in fact I hope there will be a trial. As a fan, I will follow it. MM is such a huge part of my life: since I was 11 years old I have been listening to him. I was the odd goth kid at school and his music comforted me, it was 'okay to be a weirdo' was his message back then, and introduced me to a world of beauty and darkness, where I still get a lot of inspiration for my work and style.
Remember when Motley Crue had that autobiographical movie, The Dirt, coming out last year? Showing there how they sexually exploited women and Vince Neil committed vehicular manslaughter. Or the old rock guys who had sex with underage groupies. A LOT of them did that. Still, their songs chart high in these "Best Rock Songs Ever" lists. They are classics and still played on the radio. David Bowie, Jimmy Page, Steven Tyler, Ted Nugent, Iggy Pop, Elvis Presley met Priscilla when she was 14...... Songs by Chris Brown and R. Kelly are still played on a regular basis in the RnB/hiphop scene.
As of Dita and MM: MM was always an odd character but used to come off as very quiet and well-spoken in interviews, but had his wild side. I am a little bit too young to know a lot about the early era MM (when it was 'The Spooky Kids") but marrying Dita was a good thing for him. She divorced him because of his drug use, which was becoming more rampant over the years, and his affair with ERW.
After he lost Dita, his style of music also changed. Also did his performing. With a MM show you never know what you're gonna get. He could be puking and crawling around the stage. He was not in a good place the last few years, everyone could see that. Most of these abuse stories happened after the divorce from Dita. My theory is that he went totally off the deep end after losing his marriage to Dita.
There won't be a trial. How do you prove he beat her up this long after the fact, with no witnesses. What she's doing is taking her power back.
I really hate to say it but the fact that ERW is buddies with Amber Heard kind of makes me wary of believing her. I don't consider her to be a successful enough actress (yes she does it for a living and has some lead role, but she isn't a household name) to NOT be possibly doing this just for attention. It's been 15 years, ffs. MeToo happened 4 years ago. Why didn't she push this hard back then when it became acceptable to name & shame abusers?
Agreed that the human trafficking plane ticket argument is a little ridiculous.
Another band I love (Brand New) had their frontman be accused of all kinds of grooming and "child porn" stuff. Really, it was a couple of 16 year olds who were starstruck and sending nudes to him. One of them regretted her teenage choices 10 years later and made a stink. Yeah, it was fucked up for him to ask, but I definitely thought a 16 year old should know better and should accept some responsibility.
I don't jump to immediately believing anyone who claims to have been abused, honestly. I'm sure that makes me a traitor to women in some people's eyes. I wouldn't believe a man immediately either though. It's also tough sometimes to filter out your own confirmation bias where you want to believe whichever party you're a fan of :/
I hate to say it as well, but the fact that she's buddies with Amber Heard makes little difference. She doesn't have puppet strings on Amber Heard. Amber Heard's choices are her own. This is no offense to you Selina. I don't think you're a traitor to Women. I just think he's fucking crazy! He can't bitch about it, he CULTIVATED this. It's easy to believe he's an abuser because of the persona HE created!
It's easy to believe he's an abuser because of the persona HE created![/QUOTE]
So you're basically saying that bc he chose to go against the grain of society & look as abnormal as he could that he's automatically an abuser??? As Madonna always said "Artists are here to disturb the peace."
I didn't say he was automatically an abuser. I'm not his Judge or Jury. I said that when he is accused of abuse, people tend to believe the accuser because of the persona he created for himself. And I said that until given reason not to, I believe Evan Rachel Wood. My default position is to believe Women. xxxGothBarbie, if you said something like this, I would believe you as well! Look, I like you, but please don't twist my words on me. I don't deserve it.
You really expect me to believe that you don't view people at least a little differently based on who they hang out with? Birds of a feather and all...
And if one of them is influencing the other, my guess is that it would be Heard on ERW. Heard is a known psycho bitch.
I think it's dangerous to automatically believe anyone (of either gender) who makes an accusation without a proper investigation. It's easy to weaponize that mentality in others and just use it to 'cancel' someone you don't like.
Not really. And who knows what's going on with Amber Heard. Heard might be a psycho (Maybe, I dunno, haven't paid attention). But none of this has anything to do with Even Rachel Wood.
The problem Therein is that there will never be an investigation, because there's nothing to investigate. If ERW wanted to get him locked up she should have done it the day after he beat her up. This long after, there's nothing to look at.
Pardon me, assuming he actually did beat her up, or chase her around with an axe, or whatever. We'll probably never know. This is just He said/She said. But I believe Women.
(Sorry for the second post)

unfortunately yes.
I remember a semi famous rapper from New Orleans I think named C-Murder.
guess what happened when he was accused of actual murder.
people had a hard time finding him innocent (before his trial) due to the public image he created
is it fair. No.
but human nature is what it is. We often have to overcome obstacles checking our biases, remaining objective, n not judging people
N sometimes people’s personas turn to reality as they blend fiction with real life.
Idk. I really don’t know much about the dude except when MTV was poppin he was frequently featured doing eccentric shit n screaming “The beautiful people....” in that one song.
I remember interviews asking him dumbass questions like if he was evil n whatnot n he would explain to them that it was just art/acting etc.
People can be really horrible people and still have amazing talent. I wish we lived in a karmic universe where only good people are gifted.
I knew he was weird, but I hoped he was the good kind. I figured his music was all fantasy and nothing he would act out. I watch a lot of prison gangbangs, but I’m not going to be a prison guard anytime soon.
I'll admit, I was always a big fan of his music since I was a kid...I've danced to a lot of his songs too. Hell when I was younger I even had the hots for him! And yeah you can tell just by looking at him that's he into weird, freaky shit...but this goes way beyond being weird and freaky. What he's being accused of is extremely abusive and criminal. In healthy BDSM relationships there are limits and boundaries that you do not cross. I know everyone is innocent until proven guilty and there is much that the public does not know for certain...but there's a good chance that there is some truth to these accusations.
Regardless of how and when these women handled it, it's good that the public is being made aware of his behavior and that he is being shamed for it. I truly do not believe that the accusations are completely made up and untrue...at the very least, there is some grain of truth to them. I really hope Marilyn/Brian gets his shit together and is held accountable for his actions. I've heard he has serious drug and alcohol problems and possibly may have a personality or mental disorder (like BPD or NPD, or bipolar, etc) but it's his responsibility to take care of it and not be a POS to women!
It’s not just ERW, that’s the thing. Ten women so far have spoken up.
The thing about judging people by the images they present… I’ve seen this happen with dancers, too… for some people, putting on an alter ego leads to them going so deep that they no longer know which way is up. And I believe that’s likely what happened here.
Oh shit, it's actually called "The Beautiful people," I thought it was Antichrist Superstar but after listening to it, it's not the song, It's just a bunch of yelling. My mistake.
15 years ago [or whenever I heard she was involved with him] I said 'what is wrong with you kid?'
She was 18 not 15 so he is just an ordinary garden variety scumbag but this all should not be a surprise to anyone.
He pretty much came up with a warning label though, not that he was right. Substance abuse, bipolar, beat the shit out of his mom. Yeah, that would be a hard pass for me.
P.S. I do like his cover of "Cry Little Sister". Damn dude. Making me feel guilty. -_-
Sweet Dreams and the video is like a car crash you cannot stop watching. He is a talented man, but that of course excuses nothing
We allow 18 year olds to do lap dances, and err, more, so we pretty much have to let them screw the scumbag of their choosing, and just hope that we raised them to avoid huge mistakes or at least to be able to get past them
If an older man can be useful to you, you go girl, but that needs to end when they cease to be useful to you.
^Yes! Or if that older man becomes overly demanding and/or abusive. The whole purpose of younger girls with older men is for the man to improve her life and make it easier for her. Not to add problems the way that guys her age often do. These women may have initially been infatuated by him and turned on by his charm, talent, etc. But when he turned abusive, they were probably too afraid to do anything about it bc the dudes a psycho.
The best way to avoid problems with people like that is to not let things get too far with them. In the 90’s he and Jenna Jameson dated briefly but she cut things off as soon as she started seeing the signs (like saying he wanted to burn her alive, biting her, etc). I think the girls he abused got too deep too soon with him and felt trapped
Has Rose McGowen come forth yet? I'm not keeping up with it really, just curious. I need to read his book I keep hearing about.
