How old were you when you first started?
Hiya
There’s a club, the only club, in my city and I am thinking of auditioning and working. I am now 28 and have not worked as a dancer ever. But I’d say I’m still fit and hot enough to do it certainly, and I know there’s dancers that are older than that and that started out a bit “later” as well.
I just feel like I’d f**** kill it (I’m ordering an at home pole and heels ahead of time to practice my sexiness), and I have years of “customer service/sales” experience and I’m just generally good at reading people and hustling $$$$ (big part of the job I am aware)
I did audition at a few clubs in PA when I was about 19/20 and got hired but never had the balls to work a shift. I was a sheltered and shy gal back then.
I’d like to hear your story, and if any dancers started late in the game as well and what their experiences and perceived pros and cons to such may be.

I started when I was 22, so not the earliest but not really the latest either. I had no problems :) I say go for it, keep your wits about you, and have fun

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I started a few days after my 18th birthday. I was an obvious noob and pretty sheltered. I can already think of a few benefits to starting later as opposed to starting when you're barely legal. For one, you've probably reached a point where you've developed a certain degree of wisdom and worldliness that the under 25 group hasn't quite gotten to yet. You're probably more confident and comfortable with yourself, and that's a huge benefit since your mindset is such a dominating factor in the strip club. Your experience with sales and people reading will be a HUGE asset. Doesn't matter if you're selling clothes, cars, or lap dances, it's the same procedure. Identify who the customer is, what they want and cater accordingly.
Age is really the last thing a dancer in her 20s needs to worry about. Women are successful well into their 30s, 40s, and 50s in the club. Most men have no idea what a healthy 28-year-old looks like anyway, due to societal conditioning.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
Shortly after turning 18. Luckily for me, my birthday's on September, so I had a head start in life during my senior year of high school: build up a huge savings, got a decent car, rented an apartment with a dancer friend and moved on.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
Oooof I had to think here. Didn't really start with clubs until I was 21. For lots of reasons it's good to start late. Having a sales job before hand helps.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
18/19ish. It was around my 19th birthday I do remember that. Slightly before or after. I know lots of 28 year old dancers I don't know what it's like to start new at that age but physical attractiveness should not be a problem at all. I'll be 27 this yeat, so basically your age and I look better than when I started if anything.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I was 18 when I started. Did it right into the 3rd week of my senior year in hs then dropped out bc at that point the $ was amazing & I already knew I wanted to move to CA & start a new life so I did :P
I'm so happy I actually had the balls to do it, looking back 20 years later. Dancing really helped me build my self confidence & was also a free course in sales. I brag at times about my dancing days & ppl are nothing but intrigued.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I started at age 21, and I am 33 now! How much longer will I be able to handle the freeloaders before I do myself a mischief? :D

Re: How old were you when you first started?
28 when I started stripping, 19 when I started sex work.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I was 23. Just figured, “hell with it” and went for it. Part of my, “shit happened which made me feel less restrained by personal inhibitions” phase, I guess you could call it.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I first tried dancing in 2011 when I was 21. It was a disaster. I was a very naive, innocent girl totally mentally unprepared. I quit very soon after. Cut to ten years later, I tried it out again at 31. I am a completely different person now in every sense! I am assertive, I set boundaries, I am confident, I am mentally prepared when I work. My story shows that, IMO, starting dancing when you are older can be very beneficial. There is no way I could have been successful at this in my twenties; I was much too emotionally immature. I’m not sure why people who have never danced always seem to think if you don’t start at 18, 19 you won’t be successful. Most teenagers I know are way more focused on the mall and their phones to be disciplined enough to stick to a schedule, read about sales skills, etc.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
i was 19 but I know many ladies that started in their late 20s and are killing it. Something about maturity really does wonders in this industry.

Re: How old were you when you first started?
21. I actually felt old because everyone at my first club starts at 18. I don't think I could have done this in grade 12 like everyone else I knew did..it is definitely better to start well into your 20's. If you take care of yourself, there can sometimes be very little difference in regards to looks between 18 and 28.. I'm 33 but when I was 28 I was still getting asked for ID all the time (legal drinking age in Canada is 18/19 depending on province)

Re: How old were you when you first started?
I'm in the same exact boat, freshly 29 and feeling super interesting in trying dancing again. I never auditioned back then, but I bought shoes recently and have been getting back into shape. I remember being on this forum 10 years ago looking into dancing, and looking back now, I do not think I would have been prepared to deal with the industry mentally.
