Same feelings. I won’t call someone a sex worker since I know it offends some, but I have experience with being outed and people don’t care it is legal or not legal. I suffer the same consequences and stigma even though I’m a dancer and recently done cam work. For me, being called a sex worker mean I make money from my sexuality. It means I’m an ally as well, and I don’t think I’m better than a person who does full service. I agree there’s nuance in the definition. The older I get the more I realize it’s okay for people to have different opinions and I don’t need to engage in pointless arguments. Agree to disagree. I just would ignore it and if it annoys you if someone calls you a sex worker say “I don’t like being called a sex worker because I just dancer.” Cool.

I am opening up to the term for sure. It used to offend me but moreso the stereotype that comes along with being a sex worker does. I think one way to end the stigma is to slowly talk about it when I feel comfortable and safe to do so. I kind of like shocking people with hey just cause I'm a sex worker doesn't mean I engage in hard drugs, drink heavily, practice unsafe sex, don't pay taxes and all society's other presumptions that go along with this industry. I am slowly but surely learning that other's opinions of me have nothing to do with me and to go about my life without giving a flying f*** about what they might think. Cue in Mark Manson's "The subtle art to not giving a f***" :)
