Tips on Growing Pubic Hair and Dealing with Back/Butt Acne?
Hi Ladies!
I am an "old timer" - not dancing anymore, but came back because this community is so damn awesome and everyone always has the best tips and recs.
Anyway, I have been Brazilian waxing for many years and want to grow some hair back in. The hair is growing in pretty sparse - possibly from waxing for so many years possibly hormonal as I am in my 40's now and things fluctuate. Anyone ever try to purposely *grow* pubic hair and have any tips or suggestions on how to help things along?
Second question - any tips for stubborn back acne? I never had this before, but in the last year or so I will get periodic breakouts on my back and butt. Again, I think it is probably hormonal, but nothing I have tried has worked. I have tried Dial soap, Head & Shoulders shampoo, rubbing alcohol, and the PanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser. I think it may help a bit but not much. The acne seems more cystic which leads me to believe it is probably hormonal related. I stopped taking birth control pills about 2 years ago when I thought I was going through early menopause. I wasn't but didn't resume taking because I wasn't sexually active at the time. I have an appointment with my gyn next week for my annual and also to look into going back on because I started seeing someone and don't want to take chances even though I was never able to get pregnant and am 45 so chances are slim anyway, but don't want to risk it.
Anyway, thank you in advance for any suggestions or tips and I am so glad that this community is still here and going strong! Back in my dancing days in the early-md 2000's this place was a godsend and a safe place to go for a great community! I learned a lot and made some great friends here and so happy it is still here for the "next generation" (god I sound old! LOL!) of dancing QUEENS!!!
Re: Tips on Growing Pubic Hair and Dealing with Back/Butt Acne?
Hi there!
1. Try using a trimmer, to grow your hair back. I personally use a trimmer instead of a razor because I don't get irritated anymore and the hair grows back pretty fast. The more you trim, the faster will grow back, so you might wanna try that, instead of just waiting for it to grow without doing anything. I use this trimmer: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Bod...s%2C265&sr=8-7 It also works with shaving gel, and it acts exactly like razor, but without getting burn/ rashes/ irritations.
2. You have been abusing your skin with the methods you used, no wonder it didn't work. Rubbing alcohool and head&shoulders??? Your skin must have screamed for help sooo bad hahaha!. Here's my favorite beauty youtuber, that's also a certified aesthetician now and she has been fighting and winning against cystic acne. I will just leave a video, but take your time and watch whatever you can find on her channel, it helped me improve my skin tons, in a gentle way, using the right formulas and combining them efficiently (peroxyde and azelaic acid help, but need to be used carefully in the correct way). Here's a video with her, reacting to her own viral video when she exposed her acne, 10 years ago and talking about the mistakes she made. But her channel is full of info of any kind and covers all the topics possible about all the issues!

PS: Also, try to avoid any fragranced body lotion/ shower gel if you can. I personally use now Bioderma/ LaRoche Posay shower gels, that are for sensitive/ irritated skin and my skin looks much better.
I am currently fighting butt acne and using Azelaic acid cream on my butt, definitely helped TONS! My acne scars started to fade and I didn't get new pimples. I am also researching into adding one more moisturizer, so I can get even better results. I used to abuse my skin too, a few years ago. Sooo, yeah. We live and learn haha!

^ Tea tree products for back AND Retin-A ( you might use them at different time together they are a lot ).
If the topical treatment doesn't work you may need to explore accutane . I'm speaking from experience on it , blah.

Thank you so much @Cutie101 !
Going to order the trimmer and stop with the waxing, or at least just get the sides and underside/butt waxed and then trim the growth myself.
Yeah I tried everything on my back/butt. I try to avoid getting lotion on my butt/back but maybe there is transfer from clothing too. And thank you for video - I am going to watch now! My heart breaks for that girl going through that with her acne - I had horrible acne as a teen and was made fun of and called "pizza face", etc. so I just feel for people who suffer from it. Her skin looks flawless now though! I am so curious what she uses!

Thank you so much @carmen_b!
I used to use Retin A but haven't in many years - I will have to see a derm to get it again I think unless my primary dr can prescribe it.
Do you use the tea tree oil or another product with tea tree?

Yeah, I can't put here all the good clips, because she has so many, you really need to take your time to go trough her channel, it's just soo goood. Also, her reaction to celebrity skincare are full of info, as she looks and says what they do right, or wrong and also says what they should do. I got dumb seeing how clueless celebrities are, when it comes about skincare, with all the money and access they have to top everything in the beauty industry :)))
